  • This guy is no bullshit. Awesome. Thanks for the video.

  • I noticed your fretboard is scalloped, does that enhance speed or get different tones? I've seen it on Malmsteens guitars but never understood why he did it.

  • @riddleguitar26 It doesn't increase speed. It actually forces you to slow down until you develop proper control. This is it's main function, to give more control of the strings. It makes you learn to play with a lighter touch, so you can do more, with less effort. This is why it is thought to make you play faster. You also get better sustain.

  • gd job mate

  • nice job and nice fat sound on that strat , the hiss does not bother me , im listening to the playing ,;)

  • You should've done the ghost harmonic technique where you slide your hand down a string while trilling on it. That one's really trippy sounding.

  • don't even reply to the haters lad. they don't understand. you play very well. Speed and emotion and it's not that common. good stuff keep it up

  • Handy stuff!! Part and parcel of why I love youtube...almost anything you wanna know or see...just a thought, a typed phrase and a click away...lol

  • you're a good guitarist! Me jealous.

  • you need a decimator noise reduction pedal it cleans up your tone when have lots of gain you don't hear white noise.

  • wow you slowly faded into a silhouette

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD THANKYOU SO FUCKING

    MUCH!

Ever since i was a little kid i had always played pedal tones on any instrument i picked up.

But i never knew what it was called until now!

    Thanks so much!

When i'm rich and famous i'll look you up!

    P.S.

This is a pedal tone pattern right?

    1 2 1 3 1 4 1 5 1 4 1 3 1 2 1

    (in a tab like notation)

  • Appreciate those little tidbits :D

  • those would just be tapped natural harmonics.. it doesnt have to be just one octave above... just imaging w/e note your playing or have fretted as the open position you can then tap harmonics on wehre the 12 fret or (1 octave higher) would be if hte fretted note was an open string..and also one the corresponding 7th and 5th... were the natural harmonics on teh open strings are

  • Hey bud, you said you didnt know the correct term, i've always heard them called by professional guitarists " Harp Harmonics".

maybe help :] If thats not true, i apologize, but thats what i heard of them as :P

  • Thank you so very much for the ghost harmonic info . . . been looking for this for years! (After I first leaned about it back in the early 90s and since forgotten the technique) Keep rocking man, you are awesome!

  • Brill vid mate. Really helpful. Thanks a lot.

  • 3:45 THAAT IS FROM PRELUDIO OBSESIVO BY RATA BLANCA!!! :D :D or don't :S lol

  • Is that an Yngwie signature strat?

  • no. yngwie has the funky fretboard where each fret dips downward. this guy just has regular strat it seems.

  • @redgibson1 still looks scalloped to me. If you look really close the board seems a lil deep.

  • yes it does look that way. its hard to tell. but i know my friend has an yngwie, and the fretboard is yellow. not brown. not sure if it comes in different woodtypes, but yeah hard to tell.

  • how can i apply that to a chords progression

  • find out what key the chords are in and play in that key

  • LIke it a lot, sr malmsteen son or somthing, hey dude have you learn any of the songs of the new ynwie cd?

  • fucking cool man???

  • You are fucking fantastic.

  • sick playing!

  • Ywngwie would be proud! thats sick man, how long have you been playing, and did you go to music college?

  • sweeeeeet!!!!! bE my teacher!!!!!!!!!

  • can you send me the tabs for the thing at 00:47?

please dude?would healp me alot=)love that sound, and nice vid by the way

  • lol im not jawsus, his account is pruane2forever

  • Its just gain hiss, and doesnt exist anymore as this vid is a year old and I have new eqiupment. Potato fingers? Hey, if you bite down on your bottom lip and blow hard will those gapped teeth whistle? Grow up, get some testosterone and braces.

  • LOL!

  • dude you're really helpful. i'm not a big theory guy, i'm much more of a feel player. but just watching a few of the things you do and how you explain them has helped me a lot. thanks.

if you have any suggestions for sweep picking, please share. i'm beginning to get it down some, but need help.

    thanks man.

  • which scales do you use there?! sry but i'm not very into theory...

  • hey i did't quite get how to play ghost harmonics. can you make another video to explain it more? let me know when you upload it

  • It's quite simple. Just as a natural harmonic is hit on a certain node, a "ghost" harmonic is the same, albeit the scale length of you guitar is shortened as your fretting hand is holding down a note.

  • liked the video dude, but sounds like u need a noise surpressor haha..

  • youre only jelous cause he can whoop your ass around the block

  • No, you only need a Boss NS-2. ;-)

  • its the distortion channel on his amp

  • It's noise gate time haha

  • IS THAT MALMSTEEN??

  • no not really ;) but his skillz :P

  • good video the only thing i would suggest is cleaning up the feed back from you amp and you didnt really teach anything but you have lot of skill good work

  • Only one comment...PLEASE clean up your connections or whatever you need to do to get rid of that 'waterfall' noise in the foreground. It does detract from the overall video and drowns your voice out a bit.

Otherwise, good on you for sharing with all us fret-heads out here.

(The 'ghost' harmonics are, indeed, called TAPPED harmonics.)

  • What!!! i wuz lookin fyr banjo lessons! But now i will learn guitar. Awesome !!!!

  • i like you dude,

you play really awsome and make good vids.

thanks because i think that this vid will help learn the pedaltones heaps better

    Cheers

    thanks

  • so yngwie isnt so inventive after all...

  • good video I suggest you show things from a better angle maybe close up on your fret hand

  • where can i get the tabs for this reply plz

  • this not patterns its the bach motive, read more please

  • Thanks, but they are not exclusive to Bach and Ive never "read" that term. I am using terms that should be familiar to other electric guitar players who may not be into classical music exclusively.

  • im sorta a beginer but this boosted up my confidence when i tried learning this...THANX

  • hey u.k here

fantastic...how very generous u sharing your gift, its very much appreciated!sending good karma back your way fella!

    sam

    manchester england

  • Good karma is always appreciated here, thanks!:)

  • Hey, first of all I would like to say that you're a phenomenal guitarist. And secondly i was wondering whether you would be able to send me the tabs for these pedal tones as i'm just getting into this style of music and wish to better my playing.

  • sweet baroque licks - and nice guitar+sound - I learned some new cool stuff and liked your playing! 5*

  • excellent. i love this shit!

  • What sort of overdrive do you have behind that?

  • YJM 308

  • scalloped frets!!!!

  • nice malmsteen siggy, you should get a better amp tho.

  • you're pretty bad, and by bad i mean badass! very good

  • What u call 'ghost harmonics' are just tap harmonics,

  • Yeah, someone also told me they were called "overtones". I like Ghost harmonics better8)

  • can i get some tab plz

  • Thank you very much. Please more!

  • Hey dude..i only just started getting into the whole neoclassical style recently..I'm keen to incorporate some of those techniques into my playing so was wondering if you could email me tabs for some of those sweet licks you played...scottnaude@gmail.com...thanks so much dude

  • kool thax alot does having a scalloped neck make a diffrence in sound?

  • thanks,i think i will get that

  • real nice setup man, im thinking of buying that Yngwie fender, would you say its better than your average guitar? what are its benifits?

  • Yeah its better, made real well, has the scalloped neck. The DiMarzios are NOT hot pickups which is one key to warm tone. The distortion is meant to be added/boosted at the amp. has a great neck and stays in tune. Its not cheap, but its worth it.

  • what amp settings you use dude?

  • Its a Marshall Valvestate 100 set on channel 1 gain: Full, Bass: 5, Mid: 4, Treble: 6. I also use a dod YJM 308 preamp overdrive set at Gain: 12 o'clock Level: Full

  • ok tnx a lot aj and keep the good work up

  • Well, The bends yes and also the vibrato and the sustain. I cant say anything bad because I love it to death and HATE regular necks now, but some people have a hard time adjusting to them at first. They require you to play with a lighter touch, which is hard at first but pays off in the fact that once you master it you play better and faster.

  • aj can u tell me please, what really changes playin' on a scalopped neck? i mean, what's are the good things and bad things (one good things is the very high bends, right?) By and ty in advance

  • nice
