I think it would have worked better with a penny instead. The Quarter is a little heavy and caused it to drag somewhat. I'm 55, I know these things. I have 300 45's and about 3000 albums.
WMG ban the playing of this (i'm so sorry their coffers are empty...and emptying by the second if they keep treating their customers like sheep).... give me an old record player any day... much more realistic!
@Loobs666 Whew, you had me scared until I checked it. I guess the audio must be cut for international viewers. That's why I don't really do many videos like this on YT anymore.
Amazing that a 17 yeard old could be so wonderfully talented, not like American Idol idiots who think the world revolves around them. They're not fit to occupy the same planet as Ritchie. R.I.P. Ritchie.
The day, music died.....but real stars will never fall from heaven, Ritchies Ghost stayed above the stars and watch o'er us. And with him Buddy Holly and Big Bopper....
Although the stars are "dead", the real Rock'n'Roll will always live!
Good golly guys and gals. Can you remember buying your records and racing home to play them .One of my first was a certain Miss Brenda Lee .And now nearly 60 i have an ipod .How times have changed . So a BIG thank you toall who put up on here the records that made my youth .
I remember back then, just after Ritchie died, my older sisters were watching American Bandstand. A girl appeared dressed all in black and a veil over her head. It happened to be the original Donna. She sang a song to Ritchie, something about that now she was here....etc. I just can't remember the words. I was then 11 years old. I can just barely remember this.
This is a 45 rpm. I'm 65, and my brother and I had a record player just lie this one. It played 45's, 33 1/3's and 78's also. We still have many of those records. The player is long ago kaputt, but we still have turntables, and break out those vinyls on occasion. What memories!
this is better than todays music, and this song's got a story. too bad he died at the age of 17, he could have made lots and lots of those good songs!!
Superb! First time ever I heard this by Ritchie rather than Los Lobos who also were great. Ever wonder who gets the modern day profit residuals for Ritchie;'s work? I'm sure his family is gone but the brother had a little girl [at least in the movie] maybe they go to her.
Hi, I am sure this is nice memories for some people. A great song too. The point is, this record player is damaging the record, this tonearm is too heavy, and the quarter on it is digging into the record due to the weight, also this record player is turning slower then it should be for 45 speed, I can hear it. You can say good bye to your records there wearing out fast. I thought you should know.
But remember, these records are already in fair shape if that, and I only play them (1)one time. I bought this player at a thrift store for $5, and look at all the enjoyment it has created!
I understand it is important to enjoy. I was just worried about short life the collectable records would have afterwards. I guess one play may not to do much. Thanks for your reply, and your taste is super in tunes.
I noticed you used the old coin taped to the tone arm trick--I used to do that! I thought I was the only one...nice video, brings back lovely memories.
Bigger than Elvis..nah. Elvis had amazing looks and was very popular with the woman. Everyone wanted and still wants a piece of him. Ritchie was great but Elvis I think personally is more versitile as a singer.
