Wtfxxl13: I totally agree with you. We should have allowed the player to work for akbaa. I can't believe we didn't think of that. It makes me want to patch the game to allow that. It wouldn't be hard: set one quest per group of people, change the ending to: akbaa protects you from the recall spell from the noden, you join akbaa and his cause. Thanks for enjoying arx so much, it makes me emotional everytime I read posts about the game.

The game is very good,i like games like these.Graphic is old but is GOG.The graphic is like in TES 3 Morrowind.That old man at start of video reminds me of guard at beginning of Morrowind.

Since Arx Fatalis supposed to be Ultima Underworld III, then check the previous Ultima Underworld games, the first one came out a few mnonths before Wolfenstein 3D, but was a vast technical achievement at it's time, largly suprassing what Wolfenstein had to offer, flying, jumping, 3D environment [3D, not 2,5D], was quite open-ended and it's still quite easy to play, gameplay is smooth and pleasant, apart from UW i would also recommend the Ultima series and System Shocks [cyberpunk horror/rpg].;)

Beside those, i'd say Elder Scolls series up to Oblivion, which i'd ommit, and the Might And Magic series, if You can deal with the wonky graphics in M&M's, You'll have a blast!;)

This is a highly under appreciated game that I'm suprised more people didn't play. It had more than just simple dungeon crawl elements. I think the only flaw this game had was giving you the option to kill everything but not having the storyline adapt to it, i.e. if you are evil and kill the people, you cold work for Akbaa instead of the Noden...oh well maybe next time

Morrowind and oblivion were great games, but you can't compare an incredible RPG like arx fatalis with games like that.

Arx fatalis is the best game, the only thing I regret about it is that people don't appreciate it.

Wonderful setting; and the world is, despite its size, so rich and detailed. That you can you can put the ingredients together to bake bread, or add an apple and have apple pie - the world just feels alive.

For me, it seemed much more "real" than Morrowind and Oblivion combined.

Hell if you ask me it's better than anything Bethesda could fork out. Arkane Studios are one of the best game developers in my view. They never go for second rate they bring something new to the table. I hope the FPS RPG they are working on is Arx Fatalis II.

The Crossing was not an RPG from what I heard. And plus, its been announced a while ago that its been canceled now, so Arkane is now working on two projects - an iPhone application and an FPS RPG which I mentioned.

The Crossing was a good concept. Compeletely new and original. Much like everything else Arkane makes.

This is an awsome game, than CAN be compared to TES 4 to me. It's got the extreme magic that I love. It's smaller and less detailed and stuff. But I still enjoyed the puzzles, and everything else. It has less variety, but still good enough for me. The reason it compares equally to me, is becuause you have to draw the runes, to do magic, and remember it. It's harder.But you may dissagree with me if you want quick-spell like TES.I don't mind,cos it's one thing about magic there's loads of thoeries

Oblivion is TES 4, not 5. And this game is better compared to games like Dark Messiah or the heretic/hexen games. Arx is an old game, but a great FPS/RPG. If you never played it before, I can recommend it. And it only costs $4,99 on steam now.

Thanks GOD, there is no sequel. That game has the best combat motor in it, but thats it. It has no story, pc requirements too big, and you can finish it in no more then 2 days. With all the endings. All you get in the end is another poem and 20 seconds of video. That game is lame.( give me back my 4000 HUF!!! )

For example, you cant combine Oblivions spellsystem with the of Arx, Arx has a "spell language" every rune does one effect, combined they create teh spell, in Oblivion you could make out of one spellkind, thousands of varietys with different durance, strenght or different radiuses.

Thus giving the possability to combine these 3 options into unlimited poassabilities, where in arx you are bounded to on be spell

ye but now i dont mean the strength or effect just the way that they look like - if you have "Flare" in oblivion and you just think it is a small fire but when you get "vulcano" or something like that, that sounds much bigger it is just the same look but not strength :/

Yes, but some guys could mod oblivion, so the size of the fireball is proportional to the strenght. It would be an idea... But tell me how to see the difference between a fireball with the damage 15 and 30? Should it be bigger? brighter? hm? Have an idea?

bigger or just another form like it would look like Lava when you cast it :) floating on the ground and hurt enemies around ... that is one thing :D and if the spells name is like (Fire of fury) for example it could be like a hand sticking out of the ground and slap them or take them under or something like that :D just so they look diffrent ...

Hm this would need thousands of different models and animations and grafix. Also the Name of a Spell hasnt (technically) to do anything with its effects, you can call a fireball dildosuckersofmars and its still a fireball. And if every spell would have a different form like you described it would kinda destroy the possability to create your own spells, wich is a nice part of Oblivion

Yes it's using fraps to record stuff. Alternatively, you can try gamecam or Camtasia studio, although the latter is more useful for 2D applications and is quite slow.
