Im leaning more towards the newer HD 7xx series, but ill wait until Kepler is released and figure out where i go from there when i see benchmarks.

all you had to say is it won't work properly for 99.5% of the games released. amd fanboys will say its the games fault nvidia fanboys will say its their crappy drivers. i owned 3 gtx 580, 2 gtx 590, and now i own 2 ati 7970, and the only game i own that crossfire works on is battlefield 3 while the 590s and 580s worked on every game i owned skyrim, battlefield 2, batman, crysis 2 tried them all. i play on tri sli which gtx 590 was horrible on. i had gtx 580 3gb should of kept them.

@CradleComputers actually no a 7970 is not equal to a 6990 or GTX590 in sli optimized games , Also a GTX590 is not 2 Standard GTX580's they are extremely downclocked , If you want to look at GTX580 sli performance you look at the Mars 2 GTX580x2. No benchmarks will back up your theory that a 7970 can equal a HD6990.

LOL nvidia rules?! the 580 and the 590 were a spectacular fail. 590 cant be overclocked without the high risk of it exploding, and same with the reference 580 with its lack of power phases. I like both cards, for drivers I prefer nvidia however on image quality anal nut side, no doubt about it on this one, ATI.

Did you just say that AMD cards get hotter than Nvidia? You obviously don't know what you are talking about, Nvidia cards are designed to operate closer to their TJ Max. CUDA chips get a lot hotter than OpenCL chips, that is why Nvidia are slowly (very slowly) switching to OpenCL.

Like, no OC, and non-reference coolers still running around 70-80 C while gaming. They've all been well cooled cases. @xlr8r2010 I've run every version of the ATI drivers since mid 2007 and only had a few minor issues with old games while I had crossfire on...that's it. I do concede that overall nVidia drivers are better but ATI drivers aren't nearly as bad as people make them out to be

@UNITEDshotz not really amd still has problems with alot of games and apps but all the kids are wanting fast and fast for me i want a card that works with everything i use plus has support by apps i use like for transcoding ect. hence i use Nvidia, and for the person that thinks AMD comes up with tech no you are wrong its mainly Intel most people dont even know Intel has a 10 core just all of you cant afford it.
what matters is 60FPS in games and works with out heating up the place

@jasontvnd actually it is pretty far behind the 7970. the 7970 is as powerful as a 6990 adn 590. and a 590 is 2 580's. and in some overclocks the 7970 reached 1.5ghz and completely wiped the floor with the 6990 and 590. also i agree that the 600 series is going to outperform the 7000 series. history has taught us that AMD comes out with a new technology and others show how they can do it better. im looking forward to the 680. its gonna be a BEAST.

@CradleComputers actually no a 7970 is not equal to a 6990 or GTX590 in sli optimized games , Also a GTX590 is not 2 Standard GTX580's they are extremely downclocked , If you want to look at GTX580 sli performance you look at the Mars 2 GTX580x2. No benchmarks will back up your theory that a 7970 can equal a HD6990.

LOL nvidia rules?! the 580 and the 590 were a spectacular fail. 590 cant be overclocked without the high risk of it exploding, and same with the reference 580 with its lack of power phases. The 6990 still holds the crown as the fastest single slot GPU on the planet and the funny thing it gets better frame rates in most nvidia based games than nvidia does. I hope the Kepler series is better.

I like both cards, for drivers I prefer nvidia however on image quality anal nut side, no doubt about it on this one, ATI.
16Xaa supersampling on nvidia, ati looks more cleaner and more stronger on aa usage under 4X super sampling aa.
I know exactly what to look for, both cards have excellent image quality however under same aa setings, ati wins, if you know exactly what to look for that is.
Both great cards, I more then likely choose nvidia cause of their drivers,.

Im prob going to get a lot of hate mail for this but from the rumor (yes i know its bad to base info on such things) the replacement for the 560 so the 660 (or 760 depending name changes) will is faster than the 7970, so the 680 is looking to be a bit upsetting to AMD. But then again NVIDIA never overclocks as well as AMD cards so really its just a matter of seeing who can push their units further. But i guess we will know in a month or so.

Did you just say that AMD cards get hotter than Nvidia? You obviously don't know what you are talking about, Nvidia cards are designed to operate closer to their TJ Max. CUDA chips get a lot hotter than OpenCL chips, that is why Nvidia are slowly (very slowly) switching to OpenCL.

*sigh* It's funny because I've dealt with/owned an 8800GT, 9800GT+, GTX 260, and GTX 460 all of which have or had heat issues. Like, no OC, and non-reference coolers still running around 70-80 C while gaming. They've all been well cooled cases. Don't get me wrong, they're still good cards but the thing is if you feel strongly enough to put a video up like this, you are the definition of fanboy

@xlr8r2010 I've run every version of the ATI drivers since mid 2007 and only had a few minor issues with old games while I had crossfire on...that's it. I do concede that overall nVidia drivers are better but ATI drivers aren't nearly as bad as people make them out to be
