depends on what the problem is. any sub pushed beyond their limits are at a potential to fail mechanically. I have always had great luck with their products. As a matter of fact, the only DC subs i have ever seen fail were on double or triple their rated power :)

these level 4s are rated at 1000rms.

i dont recommend running this much power on them, as i was trying to blow the speaker.

@J00bles you can push them a 3000 all day and they wont blow and level 5 you can push at 4000 i seen 2 18's do 3 sec burps on 24000 watts at the db drags and did not harm them a bit they did it real easily

do you own anything DC? I've owned 6 sets of their subs in the last 2 years.

you can run 3k on level 4s all day? you can hardly run 3k on XLs, let alone "all day" DCs CAN handle way more power than rated when burping. the cone assembly stays linear and the subs wont be harmed.

i've blown level 4s on less than 600 watts, and powered them at over 2000 each. I've seen level 5s blow on 2000 watts and slam daily on 4-5000. depends on other variables

@aross414 you can run a shit tone of power to them they are the toughest subs out right now i seen 2 18's hold on 24000 rms watts at the db drags this year for a burp you can run them at 3000 all day in a box and wont mess them up

i redid this test using an 18" woofer too. it was crazy!

Lvl 4 12s are bulletproof. i beat the hell out of mine for 10 months, and they still were able to do this test without issues.
