She broke many a heart, but also created a LOT of gymnastics fans, Olga warmed the crowd up and Nadia brought them home. Then '84 brought Mary Lou, the sport was a different animal, bars further apart and more spring in floor...etc. You can't compare those from now to then, only to their peers of their own time. Yet another heart broken just knowing I would never see her back then when I was crushing on her... I had this album and my 13 yr old heart would send tears to my eyes. LOL, this was as close to understanding why girls would scream their lungs out and sob when they saw their crushes perform! You can listen to other tributes but this song IS Nadia. I was about 10 yrs old when Nadia performed her miracles; I remember being in complete awe. She's still a joy to watch. She --and the defection of Bela Karolyi-- really ushered in the American Olympic gymnastics movement. People can decide for themselves if that was a positive for young American girls.
