  • Great times. I went to St. Andrews school on Shirely St. in the 60s. Lived on cable beach and took my boat to school. Many days the boat would find it's way to PI and we would surf at the cove or the point. The beach where Atlantis is now was deserted. It was great for skim boarding. Had my first kiss under the bridge that crossed over the canal that went to Cub Med.

  • The beach that the lady was on is Pirates Cove. Thats where The Atlantis Cove resort is now and where the 18 storey Holiday Inn used to be before it was imploded. That hotel wasn't built until 1971. I can remember as a young boy you had to pay to access the beach.

  • @Tallboy03

I was just thinking the same thing! It looks like the road on PI that began at Club Med and lead to Paradise Paradise and Holiday Inn. The arched cedars along the road are unmistakable! It's where the Cove and Reef (Atlantis) now stand.

Things have changed tremendously, but thank you for posting this, it's priceless!

  • Around the 60s they Resorts International built Paradise Island Hotel(The Atlantis Beach Tower) Then came the additions(Coral Towers) afterwards the holiday Inn was built(torn down for the new royal towers) then came the Sheraton(The Riu)
