He is right that lecturers should not be obsessed with money; however they do have a job to accomplish and that is how lecturers earn their livelihood so it is obvious that they will ask for money and some money does need to support the financial aid of calling the lecturer, paying the air fare etc. So yes money isn't and shouldn't be the main objective but it is necessary to survive.
