@TheSauropsidian true , but really its only if they are raised on live, if they arent , well over here weve never had much problem, though i can see it would be hard to get a python raised on live to eat anything else
@XxflightfeathersxX I have had hatchlings that would only eat live from the start and would never eat dead prey after that... others change to dead prey, and others start with Frznthwd. So every snake has it's own character and preferences =)
I have never owned a snake, but I am trying to learn more about them. They are not my favorite animal, but they are growing on me. I am learning to appreciate them. :)
That's a pretty big corn snake! I have a calafornia desert phase king snake, he's 3 years old. He's not as big as that corn yet. I started him out in a 20 gallon tank, then had to move him to a 40 gallon. Will that be big enough for him for the rest of his years? I read that corn & king snakes can live as long as 20 years. He does good with frozen food, he's been eating that way since he was born, I was told. :)
@watchensee Corn snakes and King snakes are 2 very different snakes. A king snake wont get as big as a corn. A corn can max out at close to 6 feet but a king maxes out at around 5
@Privateduckballs fuck you, i'm not killing my corn snake if you thing anyone would you're a sick freak and should commit suicide :) thumbs up if u think this is true
@Privateduckballs The proper things to do if you can't provide for a snake, 1 you should never get one in the first place. 2 try finding a rescue, or sanctuary that would take the snake. If you're lucky enough to know someone privitely who cares for reptiles, and would be happy to give the snake a good life. 3 If all else fails have it humanely put to sleep, so it will never be hurt. BUT NEVER let it go! It's bad for the snake, and the envoirement.
@brandon2k96 yes u can mate.. depending if they eat thawed(frozen) food.. so my advise to you is if you get one.. buy a old one that is already taking thawed food
Hello I really want a pet snake but I do not want to feed it mice, is there any snake types/species that can maybe just eat small chunks of fish or maybe large crickets? And maybe a type that stays very small and that are not aggressive?
@Depro900 dont u dare get a snake if you will not feed it!!!!!!!! u are soo not suited for a snake if u cannot feed it mice, u just want to be cool . bye/.
@boarder1219 lmao i have a corn snake ball python and im getting a red tail boa so shut up once I got a corn snake i was fine with feeding them mice and rats. So dont talk buddy I didn't want to be cool i was asking a fucking question you fool.
@Depro900 From what I've read on snakes is, no they do not eat feeder crickets. There are snake species like garter snakes who will eat feeder fish. I got my king snake from Pet-Smart, and they feed all of their snakes frozen mice/rats. I've also read some where about sausages for snakes, research it! Your best bet would be to get a snake that is raised on eating thawed frozen prey. My snake has been eating frozen mice since he was born, so he's used to it. Good luck! :)
I think the most important question is if you can handle dead mice to feed your snake or even feed him with living mice if he refuses the dead ones...
It's possable, kitten's should definatly be kept away from large snakes, but corn snakes are quite docile normally and I don't really know of a cat that would take an attack from a snake lying down XD, so I don't think its that big of a worry.
The snake might try, but its unlikely it'll actually do much harm.
..I'd be more worried about the cat trying to eat the snake, I have to keep my hatchling away from my cats just in case XD.
i've kept king snakes for years, one of my first snakes was a green snake and this past weekend i went on a trout fishing trip and caught a beautiful corn snake...had to climb down a cliff to get him off the side of the tree, it's about 2ft long or a little more with a gray to white and dark red pattern. little guy wont quit bitin though haha
Ya they are really nice snakes. They do live a long time! They are a nice size, only get to about 6 feet long. They are nice to have if you dont have little kids around your house on a regular basis.
