  • Why doesn't mark show it himself...??? can't he do it?

  • @smats42 also there is a high risk of injury on these lifts. it's always safer to get instructed by a professional no matter what level of skill you are going for.

  • Can someone explain to me why i live several thousand miles away from this mans gym? >_<

  • how much instruction does the shoulder press take? these are not pro athletes, why so much coaching?

  • @smats42 Because they couldn't watch YouTube videos of him instructing the press. Why? Because there were no videos.

  • @Chrisman50 good point. i wish youtube was available when i was learning to lift. why reinvent the wheel when youtube has it dialed up for easy learning? i think im becoming a dinosaur, (sigh).

    peace

  • "Behoove, I like that word. "

  • Rofl...the guy in blue always has technique issues with these

  • great from on the pulls ;)

  • @ 2:04 is that a Salmon doing chinups?

  • lol crossfit, why rip? why did you ever associate with these people?? lol

  • they are kipping pull ups. those are underhand kipping pull ups, so its probably greg amundson. looks like him any ways. great video

  • is it important to get "under the bar"`? or can I just press it up?

  • at 2:14 the dudes are making a chin-up competition in the background

  • fat + old + drunk = mark rippetoe

  • @THEinspectigator Anonymous+bored+idiot = youtube troll

  • am i kicking my hips forward or back as i press up? sorry for dumb question

  • @paleheroes back

  • the first guy at the start of video doing press ups - watch how he takes a breath lol (like he's about to go under water diving or swimming )

  • crossfit=gay

  • If you can't lift the weight with just the target muscles, should you really drive the hips to get higher weights up? Is that beneficial?

  • @eurohim Rippetoe teaches functional strength, hip strength included. All the movements he teaches use as many muscles as possible with the largest ROM possible

  • @eurohim rip admits elsewhere that the "no knees, but hips allowed" line is arbitrary, but the line must be drawn somewhere. hips are allowed because the goal is not to do a push press, but still to maximize the weight that can be moved over the head.

  • 20 minutes of warms up before he can press 135lbs!!!

  • @Mattatministry I believe he has some shoulder injury from a motorcycle accident, or something like that.

  • I believe that this is a Crossfit gym so of course you are going to see kipping pull-ups.

  • He's very encouraging, seems like a great teacher. =)

  • That guy in the back there was doing a hell lot of chin ups!

  • kipping, none of them counted

  • @The1CamBo

Of course they "count", just not as chins.

  • they count as flailing around like a faggot.

  • @The1CamBo In what way?

  • they are not chin ups. all momentum no strength

  • @marxistsoldier

Indeed they are not chinups at all, they are kips, they are doing the swinging motion on purpose.

  • @marxistsoldier try to do as much as they do, even of these and shut the fuck up before you do

  • @marxistsoldier

can you double your reps by adding momentum? If you cant, you have bad coordination and power...

  • @marxistsoldier Thats cross fit

  • @Supplementreviewdude what is?

  • @runtinsweet The pull ups in the background, crossfit is an event of endurance its not a sport of becoming stronger to build muscle. In actual events athletes complete a circuit, doing pull ups like that uses momentum in order to conserve energy to help you last longer. Type it in on youtube, cross fit pull ups

  • @PinktheFloyd he do it hell of a strict also

  • Ok so i have been doing the standing military press with best being 155 on 3rd set 6 reps. What does this press do different from that one?

  • most people would probably call this a military press or a strict press.

However, strictly speaking, the military press gets its name from the fact that it is to be carried out with heels together. This adds an extra dimension of balance work, and resembles the stance of a soldier at attention.

most of the time though, people handwavingly talk about the military press as a strict press with no regard to any particular heel positioning.

  • military press is keeping strict form, not using hips to drive the bar up.

  • no leg drive at all in the press. some hip drive as shown is needed for heavier weights. Go into any gym, only a small no of peopleif any will be able to press 135lbs as shown.

  • you use leg drive in push press. This isn't explaining the push press.

  • So u dont use any leg drive at all?

  • lol at the people in the background @ 0:50

  • What's funny about that? It's a kettlebell swing.

  • kettlebell snatches......hummm, funny?

  • @zm5431 uh, they're using kettlebells, its a standard kettlebell exercise.
