You can ride any of the Afan trails on a HT, just depends on your skills and with 4" forks you'll just have to be careful on the tables and drop offs. You'll just be a little slower through the technical rocky sections and the bike will get quite a hammering. Its worth running some fatter tyres; I was running a set of conti mountain kings 2.3s and I personally wouldn't want anything less on a HT. Have fun

I did it on a HT, I found it fine, my friend was using full, and I went a lot faster down Energy than he did.
