Almost made me cry. We lived just down from Lafreniere Park on Colony Rd from 1997-1999. Our two kids were little then and we went to the park all the time. We live in North Carolina now after a couple of moves but I think Metairie was the happiest we've ever been. It's a beautiful, fun place to live, we miss it so.
Thanks so much Y'all! My mom's family has lived on Hall Ave. since the early '60s, although I haven't been here since 1998. My grandma used to take me all the time (when I was little) to feed the ducks cereal. I remember one 4th of July in the '80s, the whole railing fell off one side of the canal foot-bridge! Beautiful spot & a lot of great memories, as were the visits to the Zoo.
i've lived in metairie and kenner all my life. i got some good childhood memories at lafreniere. especially since my grandpa is the park ranger. great vid
Is Grand Prairie so bad? Or just a bit different? What you miss about this place may no longer be true. It's hard to find anything but a stiff drink past midnight 'round these parts lately. With the exception of bars and Denny's the 'Open 24 Hours' lifestyle that we were accustomed to is still absent.
No it isn't bad it was a secure place and had been a finacially rewarding move, but I miss the friendly people. I miss when you ask someone where a street is they can direct you without you getting lost. I miss that. A few weeks ago we had some challenges with the school department( read it on my tube slot
