Your argument makes no sense. Is it unsafe to drive in the bike lane while not paying attention? Um, yeah. However, how would it be safer to drive in the roadway while not paying attention? Bottom line, yes, he is not perfectly safe in the bike lane. However, it is significantly safer than driving in the road. That's kind of why the lanes are there.

I don't know if this is a law made, but one thing that really drives me crazy are bike riders driving on the right side of the road. Especially when they're in part of the lane.

My cousin told me a lot of people do it because they heard if you get hit while riding with the flow of traffic, you don't get much damage. My philosophy is you get hit either way your fucked.

I don't ride a bike in Manhattan, for one reason, it's extremely dangerous. It also happens to be the quickest, cheapest, healthiest, most environmentally friendly way to travel in the city but at the cost you may get fatally injured. tbc.

The point is not whether the "law" is stupid, because if you were listening to the radio commentary in the video you would have noticed the orator saying it is in fact not against any "law" therefore by asking 'if you can change one law what would it be' is taken out of context as it's not the message the video is trying to send. (The NYC Regulation on bike lanes states that cyclists shall ride in usable lanes, at their discretion.)

The point was, many bike lanes in Manhattan are unsafe.

If you take a job and work in a low payed job, you earn 1300 €. But then you would have to send your children to a nanny of some sort when you are working and so you loose a lot of money. So in the end a lot of persons don't want to work all month for just 100-200 € extra insteed of just doing nothing and be lazy and taking advantage of the system.
