I don't mean to get off track, but look at Arab Spring...the arabs now want democracy too after 1000s of years of warlords and kings. They're a little late, but it's coming. @frylocck yes you are right about exploitation in other countries without labor laws. but everything takes time to figure out and perfect. I don't mean to get off track, but look at Arab Spring...the arabs now want democracy too after 1000s of years of warlords and kings. They're a little late, but it's coming. As long as society begins to regulate in ways that promote the good and demotes the bad, capitalism can work well.

@dalecampbl8 i understand your view, but commonly, capitalism will prevent democracy. lets say that theoretically a third world countries government has 0 corruption and is purely looking out for the best interest of its people. if the government were to implement labor laws or necessary regulation, the country would lose all of the jobs that its people sadly had to rely on. this enables large corporations to basically hold third world countries hostage and destroying any chance for change.

Capitalism works too well at times for it's own good, hence the 2008 Wall Street crash. When a corporation has become too big to fail, it is just that, too big. Deregulation has allowed a consolidation in some industries that destroys the competition model. Without competition, there is no equilibrium between the producer (corporation) and the consumer (you and I). We must pay whatever we are charged for goods and services or go without.

Marx wrote over and over about the petty bourgeoisie being squeezed out and "becoming proletarians themselves" as written in the Manifesto. That very fact alone makes them less relevant. As for fascism, it is big business and industry that finances the rise of fascism - any middle class support for this is an effect not a cause of fascism.
