Awesome! The only problem is they seem to have confused something: Dengue is caught from mosquito bites (aedes aegypti) and the mosquito only reproduces in relatively clean, still water. Drink water with larvae would probably not make you sick.

I think this was a very stupid thing for Unicef to do. Because although it's common sense not to drink the Dirty Water, they'd have a huge lawsuit on their hands if someone did drink it and contracted a disease from it. They're still selling it as a product, one that is not safe for human consumption.

But one thing. Its disingenuous. The filter it when they get home. They don't drink it in "raw" form.

That's not entirely accurate. Filters, like wells, are not as widely available as you may think. That's a different problem that has other charities involved.

Baytoes is correct. There are almost no people in third world countries that filter their water. Some boil it. That's the only sterilization method they have access to. But that's still water that has human waste and sometimes laundry detergent in it.

@wermanasa As if there isn't laundry detergent, over-the-counter and prescribed medicines, including hormone drugs and birth control, etc., factory waste, sewage etc. Everything that we pass into the water system gets back into the municipal water systems and into our kitchens, of all our major cities.
