This brings back memories for me. I was one of the layout artists on this film working for Rick Reinert Pictures from the fall of 1988 to the spring of 1989. Rick was a super nice man to work for. He and his right hand man Dave Bennett were excellent artists and they inspired me to work harder to improve my own drawings. I really miss the old studios like Rick's.

I've been waiting patiently for this, and now it's finally here! Thanks so much! I haven't seen this cartoon in more than ten years, it's so great that it should be re-broadcast just because of it's simple method of teaching the ten commandments.

BTW, to correct your description, this didn't come out in the '80s, it actually came out in 1990. I know this because I still have the audio cassette from this special and it had that as the copyright year.
