i asked my mate (my god he is a moving library about races) about Boustas and you guessed right, funding was the reason he didn't race in 1997

he also told me that another Greek rider made some wildcald races. his name is Pallis Emmanouil. despite not finding Stavroulakis at perugia timing, i found Pallis, he run in 1997 at Monza and was killed a couple of years later (i think in a traffic accident)

Thanks for comfirmation about Boustas, there's not a lot about him on the internet. Even less about the other Greek riders. I'd forgotten about Pallis, he did a few rounds in 1996 on a Kawasaki and 1997 on a Ducati, only qualified for Monza 1997 though.

I didn't know he'd been killed, if possible could you find out a little more about him? I'm doing my best to find out about all the wildcard riders, any info helps.

Also I think the reason you couldn't find anything about Stavroulakis is that at every race he entered, they spelt his name differently, and it was wrong every time!

Remembered one other Greek rider. Nikolaos Voukakis, entered a few races in 1997 but only qualified for Misano that year. He completed one racing lap, and I don't even have a picture of him.

yes i show him at the perugia timing (riding a zxr)...my mate send me a lot of articles about Pallis and Stavroulakis, most of them written at motorsport magazines of that era, if i have time, i will read them and make a summary for you

There was in fact another Greek WSB rider, named Stavros Stavroulakis, he raced in 1999.

I have some more footage of Boustas, but not a lot. Mostly just when he retired from races with mechanical failures. There is one clip from Donington 1996 where he does a Troy Corser style wheelie past Corser himself, that's probably up here somewhere.

yes indeed.... despite not finding him at the perugia timing statistics i remembered my friend telling me that Stravroulakis raced at wsbk.

i think he had some participations and didn't run full season as Boustas did

He did 4 races I think, wildcard rides at Monza and Misano.

One thing I never found out about Boustas was what happened to his 1997 season. He was due to do the whole year on the Ducati 916 he used in 1996, but for some reason never competed in any races. I can only think he ran out of funding, do you know any more about that?
