So what is the general meaning of this song? A love song? A friend song? A childhood song?
Also, I had thought they hinted at Motoko's ghost being a male (some chit chat between her and Batou and the fact that she lives with a harem of women ;) I'm no GITS expert, but maybe someone can expand on that.
motoko is a female cyborg with a female ghost, and batou suggests it only because she acts in some ways which are reminiscent of male standards in their futuristic society. the major is bisexual, btw, as is evident in the manga, and keeps slaves/servants at her safehouse. il pm you the translated lyrics of the original version of the song, this version is edited :) glad to see ghost in the shell still sparks interest through the net.
Ilaria Graziano, the person that sings this song, is going to be at Mechacon in louisiana and do her first consert an amarica soil there. AND I GET TO SEE HER! YAY!!!!
this is from the episdoe where we learn about the Majors and Kusei's past and what happened to them and their past and the significants of the paper cranes.
Great song, sad but u feel the music going through you with some significance calming you
er might be a bit late for a reply but i think he' talking about the possible "live action" film of GITS in production ie real actors ... so speilberg is more than suitable
she is thinking back to when she was little. they were in a plane crash(all in ICU). as the victim died 1 by 1, the boy started folding paper crane to wish the girl a recovery. but her body failed and the only way the doctors could save her was to replace her body. when she recovered she came to visit him to convince him to take cyborg replacement like her; the boy (not knowing it was her) ask if she can fold paper crane with her hands because he didn't want to stop folding to wish the girl well
she became quite sad after that and later promised herself to master it (you can see her folding one out of the sugar wrapper. the boy would later take her advise and replace his body. the 2 models siting in the shop were their first (kid body) cyborg bodies...
i have seen this ep the boy is that terorits guy forgot his name and the girl is the major the major gets lost or brain hacked or something happnes to her and she finds this old lady that has her first prostetec body and she tells tells her the story about the body but the old lady dose not know that the major is the little girl but the song is not about the story so someone that speeks italian plese translate the song
Its when the major goes to this place in the city that enables her to see her memories and the memories of others. The story is about a Boy and Girl in the hospital and both of them didnt really recover as well as the other patients. He started making origami for her ,hoping she would get better. he Thought she died so he lost hope. and the person who came to visit him was the girl.
This episode is one of my favourite episodes in this series. It is sad, and it also foreshadows the end of the series as well. Sad :..( I love this song. It really fits the story. Thx for sharing.
i thought that episode was kinda sad!!lol well i didn watch much of ghost in the shell adn i saw dat episode on adult swim and well im wonderin....does she ever meet dat kid again or did he die?
Well, I can't really tell you without ruining it for anyone who wanted to watch it, but...yes, she does. And he played an important part in the story.
Also, the Major is apathetic because she HATES sentimentality, sort of like the phantom itch amputees get from their missing limb... But she still has it(her wristwatch is proof), and she suspects it is the heart of her ghost. She has come over time to appreciate her ghost, for it is the root of her individuality.
Ok, here's the best explanation I got: The shop Motoko walked into is filled with mementos of her past that she forgot, the girl in the car is her first synthetic body, and also Rho's.. They were the children in the hospital after the plane crash, and fate has brought them together again due to the individual 11 case. This is off of 2nd gig, exact episode I can't recall, but it is early in the second season.
I have to say...after seeing this episode and just watching Motoko seemingly (apathetically), I had a really sad feeling inside. Those of you who have watched this episode and understand the context of the boy and the girl (Motoko) would know what I mean.
same here man!i had goosbumps all over my body when i saw this episode and realized who the boy and girl was. man i felt really sad afte watching this, missed my girlfend!he3!
and there isnt a 3rd gigi but there is solid industrysfoe keep your assinine and rude comments to yourself dont b a dick, and i feel the same way about the icon in the cornor tis annoying
lol, n33wb3s. The major might i stress is 100 non-organic, meaning everything including her brain and neural, and support systems are electromechanical possibly photonic seeing that moores law is preventing advanced nano electro mechanical cpu's required for singularity. Didnt the major when younger suffer a systemic neural disease?
Look it's like so:she was in an airplane accident and in a coma after.thx to cybernetic prosthetics technology in the anime doctors are able to substitute the whole body with a prosthetic one.they did so and they kept only a part of her brain for some reason which was merged with the standard cyber-brain unit.much later after Motoko joined armed forces THEY substituted some normal internal parts with military augmented ones which provide with better performance.all in all she's a full-cyborg.
Hehe well there is Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society which is the Stand Alone Complex movie which is supposed to be after 2 GIG. And they also said at an anime conference thingy a few years ago that Solid State Society wasn't going to be the last part of the Stand Alone Complex series. Fingers Crossed!!
heyyy is it okay if you could send me a message to that website with the exact link to the song so it could be ready to download that would be great. thanks
They just switch you to a new body as your brain develops. There was an episode where they explained it. Basically, it's a very painful/inconvenient process that needs to be continued well into adulthood. Motoko actually gets her body changed regularly since they are still mostly metallic and lack the more efficient organic method of homeostasis. She also cannot swim because she will sink and drown.
Actually, the Major can swim, as all prosthetic bodies are outfitted with buoyancy devices. And the Major swims often as a hobby. However, Batou comments on her nonchalance of swimming as a hobby as being fatalistic, since of course, if her buoyancy device were to fail, she would immediately drown.
that's what meant. she can't swim without it. the buoyancy device is mechanical, it was nothing to do with gravity or weight. An organic body never stops being buoyant simply because we're made of fat and water and are lighter than water. Motoko has no fat of which to speak of. With out that device she will plummet
Not really. Human bodies are over 75% water, which equalizes when in other water. Drowning occurs not because someone can't stay afloat but because they're no longer able to breathe and their lungs fill with liquid (by whatever means).

yes they are kids you idiot! there bodys are inside the shell but now the skin and everything just the blood cells and the muscles and everything els invite our bodys...they put all of those inside teh shell and they put teh brain too so all teh stuff you said is not true
Obviously you aren't familiar with the series. Those are Cybernetic bodies. That's what the series centers around. The Bodies here are empty. Motoko has a full prosthetic body meaning her body is not organic ( brain in a box). When she gets shot she doesn't bleed. Maybe You should know what you are talking about before you go around calling people names.
Their bodies are the shells, and their egos are the ghosts. It's an analogy based on Gilbert Ryle's derogatory thesis against Descartes' mind/body theory. The bodies are artificial housings referred to as chassis that someone's mind is transfered to. It's not like RoboCop where they simply encase someone in machinery. You'd know that if you've ever seen the anime. Also, I barely understood anything you said.
