  • Even though it's sort of a advance middle school song to play, I'm in high school and I'm in the top band (playing clarinet) and we're playing this. It's really fun, we decided to play this at the actual tempo our first time, and we creamed it. I asked Mr. Monroe if we could practice in this tempo, but as usually he wants to line the song together before doing that. I don't care if it's easy, It's just fun to play really fast.

  • Haha, I'm the only Baritone in my band and I have that difficult solo part! And this is my first year playing Baritone!

  • @MrTlayton1 Good luck and have fun!

  • i'm playing this and i'm 13.

  • @timothymothy2 I was 13 when we performed this piece too. It was difficult for me!

  • I went to Interlochen this summer. And we played exactly this speed. IWS is ages 12-15.

  • softer mallets on the vibes... just an opinion

  • @TomAndJerry87 how come (I like to learn about there taste in sound, and tone)? I'm curious about your thoughts, cause I like the percussion using harder mallets, because it makes this song bright, fun, and lively.

  • @TheSebastianfan Because in that part of the song I feel that the vibes are suposed to blend in with the sound and not stick out as much. Just my personal opinion.

  • @TomAndJerry87 I see, that's cool, I was curious.

  • um... did you hear the euphonium ...??? (solo sucked)

  • yeah horns!

  • Baritone fail

  • my high school is playing this:)

  • Young Harris College is playing this this year, and I CAN'T WAIT!!!! we're having mr. sheldon come to guest conduct, and it's gonna be EPIC!!!!! XD

  • @taiblademaster Mr. Sheldon's great! You'll enjoy it!

  • @clarinetmeister that's what i've heard, and i am certainly looking forward to it!!!

  • I played this at my high school at the same speed and i'm a freshman and we got straight 1s at UIL

  • Euphonium epic fail!! xD

  • the euphonium failed at the solo... :P unlike me and my cousin who play the euphonium solo

  • the way our clarinet soloist plays the solo is very different. i've never heard it like that

  • lol. robert sheldon did the same thing with us at the begginning of the concert. as soon as he gets on the podium it is go time lol

  • I could tell he loves doing that... catches the audience by surprise :)

  • did he do the thing before the last song where u move up in your chair a bunch?

  • I don't think so... but the person who played the clarinet solo was very nice and let me have the solo in Appalachian Morning :)

  • Uber fail at the end.

  • Tejeda Middle School played this as well... We got 1 in all areas!

  • Euphonium fail at 4:13. Still, the song in general is AWESOME.

  • Central Junior High played this;), we got striaght ones.

  • North Oaks Middle School in BISD

    played this also (:

we came in 6th place in state :D

  • Cool :)

  • Us at Haltom Middle school are playing this at UIL! =)

  • ooo that euphonium solo was rough...

  • Conroe HS played this for UIL in 08-09.. They got all 1's and a sweepstakes..

  • Langham Creek did this song last year for UIL, all ones, and it was awesome. The trumpet solo was fun :D but may I ask what happened to the euphonium solo? it was...not great. How long was this prepared?

  • One week. :)

  • When I was in JH we played this piece for UIL too, and I was the euphonium soloist. Unfortunately, the DAY BEFORE contest, I got in a fight and was unable to go. The others made it a soli, and sucked it up.

  • lol. did y'all play it this fast? we played just about here or maybe a little bit faster. Our director loves bending time, but he does it well so it sounds good, not like some bands that just fall apart.

  • this piece is amazing, but i hear some mistakes.

  • It is by no means perfect. Nevertheless, hope you enjoyed it.

  • I was a member of the Antioch Upper Grade School Band for whom this piece was written. It was an incredible piece to play, and the fact that it was written just for us made it that much cooler. We premiered it in 2003, when I was in 7th grade. I played tenor saxophone and remember it being a beastly part.

  • That's really cool!

  • My band is playing this at a festival near the end of May, i'm the top second trumpet, 9th grade in a all high school band, that's good, but i got braces, stinks, but wish us luck!

  • i played this for UIL and got all 1s, and we're in 8th grade. we didnt go nearly as fast as that but still did pretty good. the euphoniums screwed up at then end.... but that was kind of obvious

  • I love playing this song this year. Trumpet Power!!!

  • This song is beast.....I love playing loud...

  • lol, we are playing this song in our High School Band currently! :D This song is amazing when played very well!! btw: Power to the Clarinets!! :D

  • Bravo! My band is playing this song and it sounds great....the only criticism i can make is that the clarinet soloist was very off tune and choppy and the euphonium solo was 2-3 beats off. Otherwise it was a great performance!

  • Euphoniums. Read the part? Read our normal parts? As far as I know, euphoniums rarely play at that speed. So... A SOLI is a rare thing to come by.

  • Other than pointing out the euphoniums.... You're right about the performance. It was wonderful =D

  • we are playing this for UIL and I love the speed and use of effects in percussion, Sheldon is an Awsome composer!! I love the 4/4 to 6/8 time changes in it, it makes the song Cooler than just plain old 4/4 time.

  • Shit this piece is fun but hard, i play snare and i'm only a 7th grader.

  • We're probably gonna play this song for UIL contest this year~

    I am pumped. :3

    Nya.

  • I just played this piece for my honor band concert. It is a cool piece but a pain in the butt to learn. Robert Sheldon is a fun guy to listen to and to have conduct you. I can't get the song out of my head.

  • It's very cool to listen to and a whole lot of fun to play.

  • I played this last year for Symphonic band. Fun. Sheldon is a good composer.

  • the only thing that i dont like about this song (i am playing it in band now) is when it goes from common time to 6/8 and back every measure. but when i learn how to play it, i have a feeling it is going to sound great, and be fun to play!

  • Ooh, those are the coolest parts in the entire piece! (In addition to the Grazioso section with the clarinet/flute duet)

  • ya robert sheldon is pretty awsome and i love this song

  • Love this song.

  • I played this song under Robert Sheldon when I was in 8th grade. He truly is amazing!

  • He is, he is!
