  • Beautiful song. Beautiful dance. Beautiful dancer. ♥

  • This dance was both beautiful and tragic at the same time, the choreography was brilliant and for everyone saying that she shouldn't be smiling, that is what they teach you in every dance class, you must smile, if you don't you look miserable. I love the flowing effect of the outfit too, it added an almost angelic appearance to the dancer, very fitting for the song. I loved it.

  • What is she wearing? It looks like a sack... but very nice dancing, its very wonderful.

  • WOW!!! we were at the same competition

  • as someone who has also done a dance to this song, i find it difficult to understand the way you interpret it . but you did you good!

  • You did awesome!!!!!!!!!! Really good on the emotions. Thats what I had problems with when I tried lyrical.

  • It's such a beautiful dance and don't let other people tell you otherwise! :D

  • Beautiful! Gave me shivers!

  • she did use emotion & her moves did match alot of the lyrics. this song is also about escape "she flies to a place where she's loved"

maybe it was just me but she FLEW! amazing job!

  • this made me cry. this is amazingly beautiful.

  • You are an amazing dancer. your leaps turns and technique are great!!

  • The dance is very good, but she didnt use the right emotion, she looked happy... Maybe this was just because I couldnt see it properly, but I couldn't sense emotion through her face, but the movement was stunning ! Well done

  • This is beautiful <3

  • For a minute i thought this was live. But then i saw the computer. It is good though

  • I think this is beautiful, dont listen to the people who try and degrade you or put you down! Keep it up girl! x

  • wow this is one of the most beautiful routines i've seen in a while :) keep up the good work; wish i could be this good! xx

  • For crying out loud, the song can be interpreted however the dancer feels while listening to the song - that's what lyrical is. Whenever I hear this song I think about rape. So no....it's not about physical abuse. It can be any abuse, even abuse to yourself.

  • I think the lyrics have been interpreted beautifully in this dance... and im a dancer myself so i do know what im talking about

    Well done :)

  • I think all these people criticizing you for not expressing the song 'properly' are just jealous. This is one of the most beautiful dances ive ever seen, as a dancer i understand that you don't always want to express the exact meaning the singer wanted to express and thats your descion. Don't listen to these jealous people who have no idea what they're talking about and keep dancing cause your dancing is beautiful.

  • Your interpretation of this song is quite beautiful. Don't let anyone talk you down

  • I really like the interpretation (:

  • this was soo beautiful! i couldnt look away. our dance studio is working on a lyrical now,,i hope it can be this pretty :)

  • I absolutely love your interpretation!!!!!!! It gives this song so much more meaning! It gives those who are in bad situations hope to get out, to dream big and do whatever it is makes them happy! I applaud you, as well as your technique! :) Brava

  • this is a very sad song. every time i listen to it i tear up. my dance co danced to this song

  • @brittdancer15 wow, that was a lot. I never said I didn't respect you or your dancing. I really liked the dance actually, I just didn't see how you interpreted it. Good job :)

  • I like it but the choreography is just akward!

  • great form and beautiful dance. Nothing is wrong with your performance. I took your interpretation as you were the angel taking someone else to a better place in heaven. Or maybe that's just me lol BUT where was your sheer jacket from? Im choreagraphing a dance I would really love to find that exact type... please dish lol

  • You guys are crazy, music is beautiful because of interpretation. This song was written about Judith Barsi I believe - an abuse victim. That being said it can also be about rising above every day challenges and abuse to become a better person - not LITERALLY dying. There are plenty abuses that aren't physical you know. Nothing in music is set in stone. It's all open to interpretation. Anyone who doesn't realize that isn't a true fan of music, or is just trying to start a stupid argument.

  • Wow i just loved it! it was so beautiful and touching .. you made me feel and not every dancer has the ability to make the audience feel .

I just couldn't stop looking at your feet! beautiful turn out !

  • Beautiful dancing. I love how you made this song have a different meaning. I was abused as a kid, sometimes when I listen to this song I feel sad and can relate. However, you should always try to get over the bad things in life that happen to you. To me this song is about being strong enough to accept what happen, to forgive, and to more on.

  • I've kept up with this video for a while, and people need to shut their mouths! I did the same thing with this song, which is why I love watching it. We go through Hell but we go after our dreams. When you smile to, "but her dreams give her wings, and she flies to a place where she's loved" people give you crap but listen to the lyrics, dancers hear things different from people who don't dance. We improvise :) You're an absolutely flawless dancer! I love this choreography, keep it up :)

  • love your costume :)

  • artists always give room in their work for people to explore. which makes it beautiful. and makes them an artist. she interpreted the movement of the song and melody in her own way.

  • I thought she was dancing @ the beach when I saw the thumbnail..:)

  • nice nice, but have in mind a song with lyrics can't be i interpreted in your own way, cause it is clearly about abuse, and your prancing round the stage and it doesn't make sense :S its quite fake, the dance is very good though perhaps use it for an instrumental that fits your mood, cause this song is a contrast to your mood and doesn't fit

  • @MegaEstorm Actually, you couldnt be more wrong. There is not one part of this song that says "abuse" or that this fictional character was beaten. The MUSIC VIDEO suggests that the song was about abuse. Lyrics are nothing but words... There are plenty of words out there that could be interpreted in many ways. As for fake, you know nothing about me. You dont know that I was LITERALLY, "bearing a burden of a secret storm" but through it all I stood "hard as a stone"

  • @brittdancer15 "she hides the bruises with the linen and lace" most definitely abuse. I don't care how you interpreted it, I'm just not sure how you don't hear things like that.

  • @musicislifebae Never felt like your heart was broken.. BRUISED? Words are not always literal. I read the lyrics perfectly.. Ever thought of someone abusing themselves? Maybe, anorexia? Hiding it under layers and layers of clothing? Everyone noticing but not asking, or turning their heads the other way? Dealing on your own.. or "bearing the burden of a secret storm" --- Dreaming of being better and getting better? Putting that part of you to rest... moving on to something bigger and better?

  • Even if we were discussing someone being abused physically.. Do you really think and believe that those people never smile? They don't smile when they think of escaping that reality? When I made an active decision to better myself, and started dreaming of the day that the good health I was working towards would be reality, I smiled. So before you judge me and my work, stop and think about what I may have gone through. I never asked you to watch my video, or like my video, but I am asking

  • that you show respect for me and the "abuse" I may have felt. I hide my "bruises" every single day, just like many other people. If you don't appreciate the way I interpreted a cluster of words, just move on to the next video. Art isnt supposed to make sense to everyone in the same way.. that is what makes it so wonderful.

  • @brittdancer15 Beautifully stated.

  • You clearly hear different things when you hear this song. However, that gives you no right to tear down any artist. Thats what art is about.. expressing YOURSELF. I was expressing ME, not Martina McBride. Do other artists a favor, next time you don't agree with something they did, just keep it to yourself because you truly have NO idea what may have been happening in their lives when their art was created.

  • @brittdancer15 Amen to what you send to MegaEstorm Great job That was AMAZING. <3

  • @brittdancer15 I absolutely agree! The beauty of lyrical dance is that the artist can interpret and song to suit their personal needs and passions, and then take the audience on a journey where they experience what you feel. It is not about taking the song literally, or even with what the original artist had in mind. Beautiful plot, beautiful dance. Thank you for showing us this!

  • @MegaEstorm Unless the lyrics are something dumb like 'I am sad.' yes you can interpret it in your own way, especially for dance purposes. The message through this dance fitted with this song, in my opinion, is that despite all these problems a girl has found an escape into a world where the problems are gone and dreams take their place

  • Beautiful. And, beautiful.

  • love.

    absolutely LOVE. great job<3

  • Feeling the love!!!! Thanks guys! It's about time people get it!! Xoxo

  • i don't see why this girl is getting this much hate for this, its a lovely dance, let her be free to interpret HER dance in HER way, it just means she's even more creative!<3

  • Just thought I'd add, no one interpretations will ever be wrong, dance is freedom to your own expression, no movement meaning or passion will ever be wrong, simply personal.

  • Ya know I read these negative comments and I am hurt, dance isnt about being rude it is about expressing your personal feelings and creating movement based art. If this song makes her feel this way then that is her perogative just because you dont agree with it does not give you a right to bring her down. Would you want someon to tear you down? So think before you say somthing rude. I as a dance teacher was appalled at how people responded.

  • R.I.P. Judith Barsi

    Our Concrete Angel

    Yep! Yep! Yep!

  • you guys dont realize that this song is happy in a sense. this girl is being abused but she only wants one thing: to be loved. and her dreams are answered when she is freed from this horrible life and given wings to fly to heaven where she will be happy. she is being set free from pain. that's happy.

btw, youre fantastic, and i loved your interpretation. i mean it is YOURS. not anyone elses.

  • i don't understand why people have to nag at the way you interpreted the song. it was your choice(or the choreographers). i realize this song is sad but everyone hears songs differently when they are making a dance. you are a beautiful dancer.

  • @brittdancer15 I think it's actually pretty cool how you interpreted it differently than the intended message. This dance is very well choreographed, and the costuming was simple but not boring. Over all, I think it was very well thought out. I'm currently looking for a song to do for my solo, and this dance is giving me some great ideas.

    Keep up the great work!

  • wooow that was beautiful!<3

  • i love it

  • i actually love this and theres deffinately part in this song that you would smile at 'flys to a place where shes loved' .. its not as if you was grinning all the way through, great technique and emotion! :)

  • i think some ppl may find it disrespectful to interpret it the way u did

u are smiling while the song is talking about being abused

and btw i didn't get the way u decided to interpret it

ya i didn't get ""your story""

  • @iJaanaa - You're listening to the words in a very literal sense. I wasn't. Its very personal for me, and NOT disrespectful at all. In no way was I mocking anyone being abused, nor am I saying I don't care about that.

  • @brittdancer15 i don't think the choreography was appropriate i understand what you were saying about your way of interpreting the song but honestly its kind of wrong to dance to a song about child abuse and be smiling. also, yeah i understand with the dreams thing but just next time maybe do a different song.

  • well done xxx

  • This is a lovely lyrical piece! Yes the piece is interpreted differently, but different not everyone has the same feeling when a song plays, do they? Therefore I think what you have done is very creative and it's good to not see something cliché, it's more on your dreams etc...

  • This is beautiful, some of the movements and poses are so original and inspiring.

Everyone interprets things differently - not everyone has to create a dance that has to do with abuse just because that's what the song was originally written about. It's a dance for goodness sakes, let her do it her own way without saying she's wrong for not dancing out the story of an abused child.

  • I need ideas! Im searching on youtube because I have to portray the abused little girl. it makes me cry everytime I dance it. but its such a beautiful piece I want to make sure I give the emotion perfectly. This is defiantly not going to be my angle (what you did I mean) but its what you make it out to be- thats what makes it very pretty. Nice job. And I agree with people; do you take pointe?

  • Pretty dance!

Im doing a duet to this song this year .

    I almost cry everytime..

I couldnt ssmile like you! lol

    Good job ;)

  • i love this song! i was going to cheorgraph to this song...it was actually going to be a pointe dance :) nice job :)

  • i personally loved that you smiled in this dance. i love seeing happy dancers :D

  • gorgeous!

  • your lines were amazing, although the choreography was kind of simple. you look like you could definitely use more of a challenge! good though, very good.

  • very nice feet!

  • where do you dance

  • @Soucie11522 I trained at Shannon O'Briens School of Dance in Seekonk Ma - Currently studying at Rhode Island College and a member of the Evolution Movement Company/ NE Performing Arts Theatre Society

  • where do you dance.. i think ive comeptited against you once in NYC

  • @Soucie11522 Shannon O'Brien's School of Dance

  • beautiful outfit and video (: great dancer!

  • This song has made me cry ever since i was probably 7! But i love this dance and glad you expressed the emotion of the song into the dance!

  • Beautiful, I cried :'(

  • This is absolutely beautiful it makes me wanna cry and it gave me goosebumps...you are so beautiful. I hope one day to become as good as you. Keep dancing

  • beautiful dancing.. like it was really fantastic.. great lines and your feet are good. but .. and this is only my opinion.. i didnt like the choriography.. i didnt find it very lyrical.

  • shes so graceful. beautiful dancer

  • wow your a VERY beautiful dancer. (: you have amazing turn out and pretttyyy lines. i wish i could dance like you. im soooo jealous haha.

  • I used to be a pointe dancer as well. Doing lyrical and jazz solos is so much better on the feet. Gosh, I already have spider veins on my legs from the years of pointe and I'm only 19. Too bad. :( 13 years of dance kills the body.

Where is this competition? Ever heard of Applause of Nexstar. I go to those.

  • Oh. my. god. this is the best dance I have ever seen!! your amazing at dancing and you should keep uploading videos. hope you can check out my dance videos too!

  • i fell in L.O.V.E with this dance and song!

    very well done! ♥

  • WOW beautiful! and i like how you expressed i completly get what you are saying! NICE JOB! :)

  • I did a dance to this song last year

  • this is beautimous!

  • i think this dance need to move all around the stage you were up front the whole time

  • Very pretty dance but I agree...It doesnt tell the story.

  • @TayThePurpleNinja - It may not tell Martina McBride's story, but it tells my story.

  • Whoever choreographed this didn't make u tell the story of the song otherwise ur just there dancing and that's not what contemporary is about srry but u have nice feet I'm pretty sure ur in pointe cuz I am already I'm 14

  • for some reason i didnt like it, i think it was the chorey, sorry.

  • Wonderful, a very impactful dance... I would have liked a little more power behind you leaps but thats the only thing :)

  • I love your feet , you move so beautiful

    - a fellow dancer

  • wow! u r amazing! i must say! but one thing i would to say AND PLEASE DNT GET ME WRONG it was buetiful but ur face and sum of ur moves sorta expressed luv or gratitude not as much pain or feeling torwards the meaning of the song but u r great! one of the best solos ive seen!

  • ya i agree ur amazing but u dnt really express the song very well but ur still amazing! i wish i could dance like u!

  • @snowgirl1207 -- I wasn't dancing about being abused - As an artist i chose to interpret the song a different way, but thank you !!!!

  • Very talented.:) Loved the attitude jump!!

  • Lovedddd itt :)

  • very pretty i thought that the costume flowed very well with the music i loved it amazing beautiful job well done!

  • this is probably one of the best lyrical solo's i've seen! i think the robe thingy is a big distraction though

  • you are verrryyy goooood!! keep dancing [:

  • Nice feet ;)

    Serisously. Pointe dancer?

  • beautiful! gorgeous representation of the song!

  • this is absolutely amazing!! completely beautiful and followed the lyrics

keep up the GREAT work :D

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • beautiful!!!!!

  • Really beautiful! You definitely have an awesome technique background, but what makes this awesome is your emotion! Wonderful job :)

  • your dance is really pretty. from loni

  • LOVE IT

  • wow. this is so inspirational to me!

  • ahhhhh this is amazing <3333333

  • i don't really like the costume choice.

    great point though. (:

  • i miss you terribly.

  • :50 your left foot.

    i want that pointe.

  • why are you smiling?

  • im not smiling, its a video of a video, the quality isnt good. if you could actually see my face you would see the expression isnt happy. i know what the songs about and i know what it means to me, its not happy.

  • i know its kinda random

but u have a really good point

    do u take pointe?

cuz u have good feet for it

  • well if she looked sad she wouldnt look like she was enjoying herself, dancingggg. i know she was trying to look pleasant acuse idf she tried to look sad she would look retarded. i know my dance teachers always say to look pleasant if its not a "smiling" dance.

  • concrete angel, by martina mcbride.

  • Excellent job! I would give that performance a 85. You have good technique but you need to use the stage more and I was waiting for a jump to add potential to your performance. But really good I enjoyed that! :)

    Keep it up!

  • i forgot to mention..

i want to cut your feet off and put them on my body, and while im at it, im stealing your turn out :)

  • wow your amazing.

  • GREAT INTERPRETATION WELL DONE

  • umm.. ur amazing :)

  • i love my sister. :] you rock britt!!

    shut up she is perfect!

  • Well whatever other people say i would love to be able to dance like you! so well done!

  • dont listen to those haters below me. i would like to see them dance better than you... you are beautiful and amazing and wow u can dance rock on!!

  • wow I loved it put me in tears almost just beautiful

  • i dont understand how ur smiling... im doing this dance for my solo this year and when i do it tears come to my eyes to know that this actually happeneds to people.

idk this looked kinda fake for me

  • ahh, i wasnt going to say anything, but im NOT smiling.. #1 this is a video of a video so the quality is terrible, #2 my lips are parted.. so you can see my teeth so i understand why you would think im smiling.. if you were there you would see that im truly not happy... but thank you for the feedback..

  • what is the song?

  • @dancer4lifeeee - Yep, I cry every time I listen to the song too - but just because that song is playing doesn't mean I have to act as though I'm one of those people being abused - I interpreted it my way. I have TONS of personal reasons for choosing this song, none of them having ANYTHING to do with being abused, so no, none of it was fake

  • @dancer4lifeeee I believe she did a fine job and i'm sure she knows all about what the songs about and i'm sure it makes her sad too but you can't be crying onstage while dancing you would mess up your face has to show emotion and no one wants someone to look depressed during their dance solo, it would ruin it.

  • @dancer4lifeeee shes smiling because she is doing what she loves most, not because she does not know this song is truly sad. she shows that in her movements.

  • your technique is absolutely amazing! The beginning of the dance seemed to go a little too fast, like diving into it too quickly, but by the middle it was perfect!

  • try to stay in character more and use the stage more. you are really good though.

  • this dance is really good. the song is a sad song, so try not to smile so much, have a better expression on your face.

  • how long have u danced for?

  • about 17 years

  • try to not cock your head so much

it seems really fake for me

  • this song is soo sad!really good dance! try to look a little more sad!
