The Chinese miitary may not be provided with the best equipment but they do have a vastly larger army. The chinese soldiers aren't given the same luxuries the US ones are either. These two examples alone cuts the cost of maintaining an army vastly. On the subject of economy the US is relying heavily on China for cheap labour, attack China and the US looses billions of dollars, which the US can't afford during an ecenomic crisis.

Those who mostly profit from all the resources are Hans living in Tibet. Ethnic Tibetans are not so awfully well off. Now - I don't think that "freeing" Tibet is a good idea, since it would probably do more harm than good. But Chinese policies in Tibet stink. I love China. But its approach to its ethnic minorities is somewhat - err - colonial. After all - who are Hans to tell Tibetans what's good for them? Do Hans like it when Americans are criticizing *their* ways? I assume they don't...;-)

The issue with Tibet dated back to Qing dynasty and the intervention of Russia and British into that area for their own interest during the late Qing period. Compounding that with the imperialistic colonization of the West in China during that period produced a very complicated sentiment among the Chinese population. I agree though there are better ways for Communists China to handle the situation, just like Jews in Palaestine, White Australia in Aborigenes land, US in various areas.

again, not all Zang race live in tibet, Han is a large race, it was a combination of many race who use to be part of the Han dynasty. many of the Han race are use to be Zang or other race, the race Han never exist before Han Dynasty.

No matter if your house was messy by his standards. It's YOUR house and as long as you don't pollute whole neighborhood with stink, rats and cockroaches, you're perfectly entitled to your mess. Mao didn't free Tibet. The original imperfect system was replaced by a new system - just as imperfect - and at least from cultural point of view - FOREIGN.

You missed the fact that Tibet was under the Republic of China's government before People's Republic of China took power. Tibet is a part of China and no matter who becomes the new ruler of China, they have the right and obligation to take and keep China's territory. freeing the people from slavery is just bonus

I was in Tehran in 1979 until two weeks before the US Embassy fell. Theocracies everywhere suck, plain and simple.

Actually, they held ranks as "Cultural/Administrative Officers" (文职), which is different from official army ranks.
Only the top ranking administrative officers in the Army level (正军级) are treated as generals (将军级文职). Anything lower in brigade levels are just officers.

The Chinese miitary may not be provided with the best equipment but they do have a vastly larger army. The chinese soldiers aren't given the same luxuries the US ones are either. These two examples alone cuts the cost of maintaining an army vastly. On the subject of economy the US is relying heavily on China for cheap labour, attack China and the US looses billions of dollars, which the US can't afford during an ecenomic crisis.

I call myself a marxist, sometimes a marxist-leninist. I follow a couple of leaders I've think done good. Mostly I follow the struggle of the masses in the Revolutions. Many would call me a trotskyist, but since I don't now much about Trotsky and often don't like the attitude of many trotskyists I've chosen to be an independent communist.
But at least I can tell you modern People's Republic of China don't practice much communism, believe my words.
