If I may be so bold to chime in here, i learned my techniques with foam at a special effects company in Hollywood...you can kill two birds with one stone by eliminating both spackle and base coat by using dry-wall compound.keep a bowl of water handy and moisten your hand every time you dip it in the compound and as you spread it around with your hand.once the drywall compound dries, it gives an absolutely perfect "canvas" for your acrylic wash.
You do really great work! thank you for all of the great advice! I am a beginner and have begun working on my layout. I have looked pretty hard and I haven't seen a video that helps from the very very beginning. Do you have one or know of a great one?
I see you're relly focussing on the "little hills", is it really different if you want to do rockies or something? (Like the ones in British Columbia?)
Even though many of us watch your videos (you can tell by the Favorited numbers), a lot of guys don't leave comments because they want to remember what you taught them as they head to their layout to work on them. Keep up the great videos.
really enjoying your videos! What is the name of the yellow tool you use to rough up the edges of foam?
