I have challenged many to name just ONE war fought in the name of Atheism. Not an nut job that just happens not to believe starting a war over more power, land, resources, etc. but in the name of Atheism.

As in: wwII, the crusades, the "Thirty Years' War, the French Wars of Religion, The Taiping Rebellion, Israelite conquest of Canaan, German Peasants' War, Milḥemet Mitzvah's < yes plural, Uganda, and the list just keeps on going. I have yet to get a reply and it usually ends the convo.

I prefer to live in reality. Sometimes I wish I could just put all of my stress and woes on a deity's shoulders, but alas, I am struck in the head again by logic. I agree. Even in England walk past almost any church and you will find a message condemning anyone outside that particular congregation. Also, on buses and railway stations you can find bible quotes about the hell being stoked for non-believers etc. Religion divides society and fragments it.

Atheism is absolutely not a religion, it's the religious position: There are no gods. I'm pretty sure that if every atheist MET a god or two they wouldn't be atheists anymore.

I have no idea why people try to say that atheism is a religion. That's like saying you don't believe in leprechauns, so therefor leprechauns exist. It's just absurd.

When an atheist puts up a sign he is immediately attacked and accused to attacking christianity. This is not the case. We just have the right to speak openly about our lack of belief. They don't have any clue how much damage that did, how many years they set back stem cell research.

I didn't even think of you when i posted that, i don't want that to seem mean i just didn't think of you personally. I thought of every disease taht can possibly be fixed by it, from MND to people like yourself.

The thing that really struck me was the way it has set science back as a whole. Who knows where stem cell therapy will lead. I would say George W Bush has also held back genetic therapies outside of stem cell therapy. Therapies that could even prolong general life expectancy.
