  • It was an awesome performance! I'm part of the Hanahan Marching Pride, and I watched both Nation Ford, and Fort Mill, and I was just mindblown! Both are such good marching bands.

I wish that our show was taped, though, because it'd be nice to see how we did. But oh well.

    Great job everybody!

    -HMP Color guard girl <3

  • This was an awesome performance!! -Saluda 2A- 3rd

  • I'm a senior for Nation Ford, and this show was amazing. It really could've gone either way. I loved the low brass @2:08. As a NF member, I stil get parts of your show stuck in my head. Haha. There should be no tension between these two schools other than sheer determination to do the best you can possibly do. Both schools are extremely successful and talented. There should be no hatred.

    - Sincerely, An Admirer and Competitor

  • My school marching band did this show :) and we just got grand champion at a competition of 32 bands and have been undefeated all year! I love this show! :)

  • Dude they are so big for AAA. AAA is usually 85-100 people, AAAA is 115-150 people usually.

  • @IcYLiSn4zzle we were 160 something i think

  • @IcYLiSn4zzle classification is based on school size, and more than 1/10 of fort mill is in the band

  • @fomillDL281 I know that. I was just saying you guys are huge, look at most the other AAA bands!

  • @IcYLiSn4zzle SC do not go by band size! Which personally I think they should, but idk y they wont.....

  • @ZHollywood1 SC does for competitions but not for semi or state finals. Then we go by school size.

  • @IcYLiSn4zzle lol.... I was tryin to say that, just didn't come out right! Ay, is it true that Nation ford & Fort mill is moving up?

  • I think someone missed the like button.

    I forgive them.

  • OK i cant wait to see you all the providence cup i look forward every yr to see hot phillip's guard work he is a beast and i am ready for the impact moment the band gives play fortissimo see you all late have a great season 2011 and i will see you all at Providence Cup

  • @fomillDL281 so were are you all going this yr

  • @sousaphoneboy1 irmo, byrnes, akron, upperstate, and state

  • 6:20-end :)

    FMDL PIAH.

  • I Miss Band only one more month and we start it all over again!!!!

  • wando did the first part in 2009 very nice

  • Nothing compared to seeing it in person. It was like the whole world exploding. For me, a freshman, sitting up in the stands with my third rate band of thirty total people, this was insane. *bows out of respect*

  • @AnbuNinjaXIII lol what band are u in?

  • I do agree

  • and almost half a year later, i still get chills watching this show.

  • WOW ONE OF THE BEST BAND SHOWS IVE EVER SEEN :)

  • DAMN! I never realized how much ass our color guard was kicking.

  • This show is completely original. It probably does have familiar parts bc I'm sure were not the only HS that's done a show like this.. Also entire drum feature = yummy, not just the bass split :)

  • both bands used music from "the abyss" if that's what you're talking about. it's not like we copied anyone's show, infact I'm pretty sure wando high school used parts from the same peice

  • Incredible show, Fort Mill.

  • Do they use any staff from carolina crown?

  • @duecejsmooth2 No. But I'm pretty sure there are 4 or 5 staff members from Crown that are on staff at Nation Ford, across town.

  • @arch9265 doesnt matter who our staff is at fort mill or at nafo, both bands did good, besides carolina crown has got their own thing going on

  • @arch9265 Our staff isn't from Crown, but one is from the Cadets :]

Also, I'm pretty sure there is only one Crown staff member on NaFo's band staff.

  • color guard = insanely awesome!

  • I feel like the video doesnt do the drum feature justice. that thing was tight:D

    also 7:10 ish = yummy bass split. 1st and 2nd win:D

  • Chills...

  • Frankly, I do not ahve a dog in this fight, but I htink it is safe to say that Fort Mill & Nations Ford are the two best bands in the state. I liked both their shows better than Wando's & Boiling Springs this year. FM & NF bands march cleaner & sound better than any of the bands I saw this year. Congrats to both schools.

  • I get chills every time I watch it. They were amazing!

  • every time i watch this my heart starts beating to the tempo and i suddenly forget that we had so many freshmen and that this was a great year even though we came in 2nd place.

  • @ghilleman666 Your heart starts beating at 176? That may be a sign of an early onset of severe arrhythmia :P

  • For those of you who have been looking for some alien dances: 3:28 B side 35 yard line right in front of devil's tower. I know that there are others but I have yet to find them.

  • OMG the beginning of this show sounds better than wando opened with that song!!!

  • If there is one thing I must say, the opening part of the show was 10x better than when Wando did it in 2006. MAJOR KUDOS TO FM! Congrats.

  • Great show guys. When you began your show, I felt like crying because our band's performance did not compare to yours. Bravo to you and your sister school, Nation Ford. You guys are the best of the best.

  • @byakugan03 did u see RV? omg we got cheated.

  • @Ghettodued No, I went to 3A state finals with my marching band, Midland Valley

  • @byakugan03 I like to think of us, Nation Ford, as more of the big brother school... Haha.

Just kiddin to any of you Fort Millians out there.

  • @1Ireallydonotcare haha. dont get too big of a head. fort mill wasnt too close to far. i really want to see what happens next year now that fort mills had their first competitions this year with your band.

  • @byakugan03 He was just joking around. Haha

  • @arch9265 i will say this, every band performed then nation ford hit everyone and everyones heart sunk at a chance for first. then chapin went on and it was like, haha, they're tiny. then fort mill went on and everyone shut up for a while. these are definitely the best bands of south carolina, in my opinion (excluding wando from that list)

  • @byakugan03 Hahaha. Oh don't worry I'm not. I love most of the people at Fort Mill. I'm just messin with them.

  • @byakugan03 Oh no no no. I'm not bragging or anything. Just messing around. I have the HIGHEST respect for Fort Mill. Their reputation proves their excellence. On top of that, they basically established us as far as I'm concerned. They set the standard for our band members when we branched off.

  • great job Fort Mill! you and NaFo sure ran away from the rest of the competition - in the end, it all comes down to what the judges are looking for that day. could've just as easily gone the other way. congratulations to a top-notch program and all the hard work you put in this year. we're very, VERY proud of you!

  • Too bad the judges didnt agree that Fort Mill is cleaner visually than Nation Ford. Because if they did, then Fort Mill would have righfully won. As far as music, Nation Ford plays less music than Fort Mill because of all the dancing and such Nation Ford does while just the battery and/or pit plays. And how much time does Nation Ford spend in a basic block or just standing still in an arc playing while Fort Mill is on the move and playing?

  • @tozer2011 it happened it cant be changed. marching band is a SHOW!!!! it is to entertain the judges for some parts. dance moves are cool and entertaining if pulled off correctly. nation ford won get over it. your trying to compare two different styles of shows. think before you speak.

  • @tozer2011 it happened. move on.

  • guys, both bands did REALLY well. I dont see why theres so much dissension between you guys. I'm from Nation ford, and Yes, i know fort mill is cleaner than we are visually. We definitely had a higher demand with our music, though. Plus, no panel of judges would have scored the same as another. A different set of Judges may have put Fort Mill first and us in 4th, maybe.

  • @irishactingboy there were hard parts in our music to u know, and ive seen the musci, my best friend goes there and i love her to death, we switched music and she said its about the same challenging wise, and i said the same, no band is better than the other, nothing was more chalenging between us

  • @sdrumr Yes, Fort Mill was better visually but was not rewarded accordingly by the judges with one judge placing Nation Ford ahead of Fort Mill in visual execution which enabled Nation Ford to win by .05 Nation Ford tied Fort Mill in average visual execution when actually Fort Mill was better from a visual execution standpoint.

  • great job Fort Mill, a show to be proud of...

  • Looking at the recap, Fort Mill either didn't get enough credit or Nation Ford got too much. It's pretty clear that Fort Mill was the best 3A band in 2010.

  • @jtekeo Disagree. How about try something new and different: congratulate the band that won. Both bands were very good; according to the judges, Fort Mill was better visually, and Nation Ford was better musically (enough so that they won).

  • @sdrumr My comment is completely unbiased and a fair assessment. I actually graduated from a school and used to compete against Fort Mill in 4A. There's nothing wrong about watching both shows and stating an opinion.

  • @sdrumr by what .05? thts not muuch
