These aren't rescue. there Ambulances or Medics. Ambulance (A) is for a BLS emergency and Medic (M) is for an ALS emergency. Medic responds with an Engine (E) or Rescue Engine (R) or Haz Mat (HM) or Truck (T) or a Tower Ladder (TL). So, they shouldn't be called R45 and R6.
In Dane County an Ambulance is a Rescue. It doesn't matter if it is ALS or BLS. An Engine or Rescue Engine is still classified as an Engine. Trucks or Tower Ladders are called Ladders, and Heavy Rescues are called Squads. The only Hazmat in Dane County really is Madison FD. They are refered to as the HIT Team, so all of there apparatus are HIT 1, HIT 2 ect... That is the way it has been in Dane County for ages.
Right...but if you look at the Dane county Fire and EMS CAD, all ambos are rescues. The one in the video is a Fitch-Rona Ambo, and it is called Rescue 45. Regardless of whether it is a private or not. I am on DeForest Fire-EMS. EMS is part of fire here and we do not call ourselves fire-rescue.
This was taken in Dane County, WI. All ambo's in the county are referred to a rescues, and heavy rescues (or what cstoner15 is referring to) are known as squads.
ok im new to the whole fire dept thing. but arent those ambulances? we have a rescue at our station (which is also R-45) and its a 2001 pierce. Im guessing that the ambulance is part of the fire dept so its called a rescue? can anyone help me out?

Here in SD, the EMTs and Paramedics are referred to simply as "ambulance drivers" by many of the citizens around here.

True. The red one is also an ambo just so some people don't get confused. They just call themselves fire rescue.

They don't just call themselves fire-rescue.. they are actually a part of the fire department, city-run. The white one is from a private company.

Technically, the white one is an ambulance (private company), the red one is Fire-Rescue.
