  • This is a good dance, i am doing the nightmare peace myself and have chosen the same music, i was stuck on getting the movements- then one of my dancers also dropped out so i was left with just the three of us, with only having a short amount of time left on this piece after watching yours i have now been able to come up with a few dance movements myself, please could you email me any advice :) xx

  • Well i think its brilliant and was well worth a *. I too got an a* in gcse dance.

  • well yes, it's meant to be MOTIF DEVELOPMENT, every bloody person in my class has developed a motif so it is different, that's the point of you developing it, to show your creativity and originality so not all your motif's are the same. I can see what people are on about how that GCSE's were particularly easy and are getting harder. if this is an A* your examiner must have been both deaf and blind.

  • I'm assuming you have either taken or are taking Dance GCSE? I'm not trying to have an argument on here, and I know everyone has the right to express their opinion, but constructive criticism is always a good start, instead of attacking someone. Comments describing my examiners as 'both deaf and blind' isn't constructive, it's petty. If you think Dance GCSE is too easy, please contact AQA yourself. Dance is a sensitive thing; it's expressive. So please have respect and consider that in future

  • You got 30/30 :O sorry but your choreography wasn't original or different and the dancing wasn't fantastic, even the story of the dream was repetitive. clearly to get an A* in dance you don't need any creativity or skill IMHO... -.-

  • Teddymere- Cheers? If you're thinking some are the moves are similar, then that's because it's what we call developing a motif. Also to note, this is GCSE standard, therefore it's not exactly gonna be first class dancing/choreography. Besides, this piece was moderated internally and externally- so two qualified dance examiners thought it was worth 30/30, so I'd much rather go by their opinion because they know what they're talking about.

  • what school do you go to ?

  • I'm at Uni now, but I went to a school in Devon.

  • I'm at Uni now, but I went to a school in Devon.

  • its really good

  • Hey,

Im doing my GCSE piece on a nightmare.

Can you suggest any good songs which can show a nightmare please.

and maybe some tips for using this stimulus ??

  • I can't think of any off the top of my head at the moment, though there I definitely plenty out there. Try looking at the soundtracks to horror movies on the net, so like Scream or Halloween etc, this might give you some ideas?

I always think stories are very clever in dances, and change of emotion through dynamics etc. I though it was a good stimulus as you could use softer, more subtle movements to represent being scared, and sharp and big movements for power- the nightmare? hope this helps

  • Thankyou Thankyou xD

  • @Weebetch have a look at [Modern Jazz Dance] Nightmare (Scream) - by Se-yang x

  • nightmare-brainbug

  • @Weebetch , i am doing a nightmare, and i am dancing to 'Bring me to life' evanescence :)

  • Hey this piece looks good. How well did you do? What marks did you get?

  • Thankyou :) A*, 30/30 :)

  • this is shit, 1/5

  • thank u sooo much

  • That's okay :)

  • what is the music to your dance?

  • Music: Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield :)

  • i hope so, the rest of the girls in my class said i need to make the moderator cry haha. well done on your though, its really good :) x

  • she has said several times what she got,

its a really good dance well done :)

and btw its not about the performance more about the choreography

well done, i hope to do as well as you, but im dong my theme on miscarriage. not sure if its going to work though

  • Thankyou :)

That sounds like a very interesting topic, with a lot of potential, I'm sure you'll do fine with such a good starting point :)

  • wa grade did you get?

Its good but u need to perform n feel it more

  • A*

Got full marks in all my practical :) ..thanks

  • Comment removed

  • Wow thatss well good!

  • is that your little sister or summin, she's really small

  • Nah she's not, I'm just tall lol

  • what mark did this get? it doesn't seem to be at a high standard

  • 30/30

  • i agree with northernballet06.. i dont think this should have been given 30/30, it doesnt have enough content, range of dynamics and is very spacially limited.. not sure wether thats because of the space you had it to perform in but it doesnt look like you used much travelling anyway? suppose its only gcse though so its not bad :)

  • Everything that you can see is the whole stage, so we used all the space :) and I'm proud of what I produced a few years ago so it's quite harsh to say it doesn't deserve 30/30? There's soft and sharp dynamics, with a good ABCA structure and storyline. It could've been danced better but hey ho this was a few years ago! :) aha

  • it doesn't matter if it was a few years ago.. its not harsh if I THINK it doesnt deserve 30/30, ive done GCSE dance & im now doing A-Level so i know what im talking about im not just randomly commenting being 'harsh' ..and yeah ABCA is a structure but dont you think it would've been stronger to use either AB (binary), ABA (ternary), or ABACADA (rondo) so there is more depth of structure rather than 3 motifs and reapeating the 1st one again at the end?

  • Aah I don't want this to turn into a bitch fight on the net. But doing A Level Dance doesn't mean to say you know what you're talking about... if you were an A Level teacher then I'd think differently. ABCA was a more appropriate structure, I felt, as it showed a kind of role reversal- how the child sleeping at the beginning kills off the nightmare by putting it to sleep at the end. This wasn't the final outcome, my exam was 2 months after, so it had been tweeked after this was performed :)

  • It wasn't turning into a bitch fight? lmao. Im entitled to my own opinion just like everyone else and I was saying my opinion. Obviously your going to disagree with me because it was your dance haa. I do know what im on about :)

  • I know, but it's nice to be tactful about it. Also, this was given 30/30 by an external examiner- someone who knows alot more than an A Level student? So it frustrates me when people get too big for their boots. Yes of course you can have an opinion, it's just a matter of whether its right or not.

  • Fleffers your chog was fantabulous :)

  • This is really clever! Lol it's much better than mine I'm doing tigers...

  • Excorsist music ha ha x

  • what music is this to?

  • Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield :)

  • what school do you go to

  • I've left there now, but it was Tivy High, its in Devon. Why ask?

  • i just wondered i go to acklam grange in middelsbrough and a girl in the year above me used this music to depict a nightmare to

  • Ahh right okay aha

  • Heya, Im starting my choreography during the summer holz and its about a dream developing in to a night mare and i need two pieces of music, one which reflects a dream and one that reflects a nightmare.. Any on got any ideas?!! I need some urgent help!!

  • requim of a dream is a really good piece

  • requim for* a dream

  • im doing a nightmare for my dance gcse choreography and my music is nightmare by brain bu its rlly good but quite long so you might have to shorten it

  • Does anyone know some music i could use to portray fear in my GCSE dance ?

  • this dance is FABBB!

its a well good stimulus :)

    xxx

  • i nooo i agree a reali gud stimulus =) great dance 2 ! wah did yu geh ?

  • This was really really good. I am doing gcse dance too but i am really stuck with my choreography, i havent even thought of a stimulus or music yet ... any ideas?

  • Thannks. Erm, well you could do nature, the life of a flower, or world issues- terroism, or something like 9/11 with 2 dancers resembling the 2 towers... Movie soundtracks are a good way of finding music, and they're good as they have no lyrics either. Hope this helps! good luck!

  • Thankyou so much ... movie soundtracks are a really good idea! Cheers xxx

  • What was the theme of your dance?

    It's really good btw (:

  • Thankyou ;)

    My stimulus was 'Nightmare'

  • Well done :)

When you know your exam mark you have to let us know! x
