  • is he wilhem kempff's son?

  • @sirshitsalot007 i dunno, but on his website it says they're related :D

  • @sirshitsalot007 - They are distant relatives, per his fb.

  • wiked but just a bit to fast lol

  • Comment removed

  • ^^ handsome guy good!

  • 59 people are without ears...

This is phenomenal playing; butt-kicking. lol

  • Freddy is my king

  • @Lynnchie22 - Freddy is my prince. Tzvi Erez is my King.

    ( :

  • Perfect legato at the end

  • keep clicking on 1:02 its chopin metal

  • @Dectheboner - That was funny! He is so amazing, isn't he? Love how he plays this piece.

  • @SinaSobhaneiPiano I love Freedy Kempf ! so it is not a critic to FK but a post mertem complain to Chopin despite this piece of music is a monument :)

  • a little bit too fast but very strong

  • a little bit too fast

  • @TheAngie321 That's not the piano's pole... The lens just cracked because it couldn't stand its own worthlessness next to him~

  • 1:20 sounds a bit to hard 4 my taste but the whole piece played by him is absolutely amazing. chopin was a genious and he's good damn good

  • just by hearing this i can tell that some of rachmaninoff's pieces were influenced by chopin ^^

  • @TheDoucheChanel i think rach's prelude no 7 in C-minor sounds quite similar

  • I simply adore listening to this man. I intentionally search for his playing of classic pieces because of how beautifully he plays. I hope one day that I can play as beautifully and with as much passion as he does.

  • His playing is amazing, but whoever filmed it was an idiot. What's with the shots of his head behind the pole holding up the piano lid???

  • deffenentely my favorite interpretation !!! >.<

  • Donnie Darko!

  • I'm addicted

  • Chopin's so badass, he ends on a V chord. Love it!

  • @speedskis777 No, he ends with a plagal cadence and a picardie third.

  • @xtfcr7 Last time I checked C7 was the V of Fmin. He changed keys.

  • @speedskis777 He starts in C minor and ends in C major. No change of tonal centre.

  • @xtfcr7 True, you can look at it that way, but it's potato-potahto. I think a lot here depends on how you hear it... i don't necessarily hear the Fmin as a resolution to Cmaj, but the exact opposite.

  • @speedskis777 If you say it`s in F minor, then would an F minor (or major) chord at the end make you happy? Besides, experiment with plagal cadences in minor keys yourself, and you'll see that the progression V/IV - iv - i sounds too dark ending on a minor chord.

  • @xtfcr7 I know where your coming from, at the same time though, the abruptness of the last 2 chords gives little time for the ear to reestablish the tonal center as C. It would be much different if the rhythm was longer rather than short (of course though, this would not have the same emotional effect). Thats just my opinion.

  • EPIC. INTENSE. PASSIONATE. What I love best about this particular piece..

  • wajib di tiru.. walaupun sulit.! AMAZING. :)

  • I'm in love with him.......

  • now THAT is hot!!

  • he looks like keanu reevs, or whatever

  • The one played by Bunin is better

  • Comment removed

  • his hair is moving again!

  • He has good skills btu I can't feeel the piece! It's not only about speed! There should be much mroe beneath that

  • @Roora555 - It's all about SPEED; INTENSE speed at that. This is not a piece to "feel", but about raw speed and power. This is not one of Chopin's "romantic" pieces, this is an Etude, a Study, an Exercise mainly for the left hand.

So with all due respect, if you're not "feeling" it, then Freddy Kempt is doing eveything Correctly.

  • @lllllllllllllll88 Take it easy buddy! even in the fastest pieces there must be something that makes u enoy it! if it was all about speed then speed that video up and enoy listening to it!

  • @Roora555 - I am enjoying it, and I hope you are too...lol

    ( :

I adore Freddy Kempf and have some of his CDs, but I enjoy Tzvi Erez' version of these etudes much better.

    ( : ( : ( :

    Ciao!

  • @Roora555 - In fact, I have ALL of Mr. Erez' CDs. They are fabulous!

  • 57 people are conservative xD

  • Damn. Look at that confidence.

  • His hair is wonderful. But I still want to see more of his hand movements. I hope the camera can shoot more of his hands rather than that flying smoothy hair.....

  • as excelent as his father!

    ;D

  • as good as his father...

    excelent! ;D

  • @dri9595 Umm, who's his father?

  • @bevster1 Wilhelm Kempff

  • @bevster1 Err, grandfather, actually. Oops

  • Wonderful, mate! Clear and in the right tempo... Great pianist.

  • its perfect played very clean amazing!!

  • he raped the piano lol

  • 54 people wanted to die after they've been playing 3 notes

  • @CsFace98 huahuahuahuahuaua. Pure truth!

  • @CsFace98

only 60 people have understand that this is not how play chopin!!!!!!

this is not a interpretation this is the second death of chopin . !

  • @pianistinblues - Your're a fucking moron telling an accomplished genius how to play Chopin.

  • @PianoCriticsKiller i'm sorry for you but i like KEMPF when he play " patetique" but i dislake this interpretation of chopin, there some pianists can play this so much better, and is not important if he is a genius or not, this is not a good interpretation.

i love how he play "patetique" for me his interpretation of patetique is one of better in youtube, but not this chopin, and is normal dislake something, can be genius is not egual like make all like a genius ! put this in you mind!

  • @pianistinblues "...and is normal dislake something, can be genius is not egual like make all like a genius" WHAT????

This is the (2nd) best version of this piece. But that's just my opinion. It's clear, crisp, he has the emotions, it's flawless and he's playing it precisely the way it's written. What more do you want?

  • @PianoCriticsKiller isn' t precisely, isn'e clearily , he don't have a right time for this piece,

he don't make a difference from the " terzine" e " quartine" ( triplets and quatrains) in the same melody but in the third page chopin have wrote in different time, he can play better than this and for me is no a great interpretetion .

  • @pianistinblues I'm sorry but you clearly can't hear right there is a fairly noticeable difference between his triplets and his sixteenth notes and I have used many different printings of this piece and there is no tempo difference in the third page

  • @pianistinblues Oh let me add that if you don't like any of his Chopin pieces, it's probably because you don't understand Chopin. It's too deep.

  • @PianoCriticsKiller only you have understand that i don't like his Chopin pieces,

but i have wrote that i don't like THIS interpretetion of Chopin,

i know Chopin very good, before write something , read and don't write a stupid post. best regards.

  • @pianistinblues "can be genius is not egual play like a genius " he is a good pianist but is far away to play all his pieces like a genius.

  • xD

  • Wilhem Kempff must be proud of his grandson!

  • I like it that he plays this etude so agressive. But the piano sounds too "cold" in this room for me.

  • This dude gets loads of ass. I bet you

  • he plays really well, it's just... he's a bit scary and aggressive o.0

  • what would pianists do without hair? i imagine it becomes much less dramatic, haha

  • such a repetitive piece - I'm not judging it, its just a fact

  • That's revolutionary !

  • i dont like the way he plays this piece, this should be played less agressive. but perhaps its just because the cameraman keeps filming his severe head. i like richter's and valentina lisitsa's version better.

  • A lot of times people play it to legato and it sounds kinda like a jumbled mess. He is very clean. Bravo

  • youre great! NIce

  • i love the way he plays the piano but can you say when you come to beluim i want to come to his concert

  • I love every of his interpretations

  • Simplemente I N C R E I B L E !!!! La intensidad que adquiere ....... cada vez que veo este video me quedo boquiabierta xD

  • too fast... impressive yes, but too fast

  • Forgive my ignorance, I'm new to Chopin, but HOW MANY ETUDES DID HE COMPOSE?!?

  • @Moon0Royalty Op.10 - 12 etudes, Op.25 - 12 etudes, and 3 more i think so ....27

  • @Moon0Royalty 38 I believe.

  • @Moon0Royalty Oops26

  • chopin sounds like a bitter man but still had some romanticism in him as it seems comosing was his only hope

  • Sumper rejhsd I just cnt find the words...

  • @ILoveThePiano and PianoTHIS.

Good God there is no reason for such disgusting displays of racism. What a terrible way to deface a beautiful video of such rare and astounding talent with such an explicit display of hatred. You should be ashamed

  • lol what a spaz

  • i always loved this etude. its my favorite piece ever!

  • two things make me jealous, his skill and his hair

  • @GigaClon yeah, i totally agree

  • Comment removed

  • Holy sh1t. That's fast before the first theme. Hell, that's fast for the whole thing.

  • @ILoveThePiano1 tell him like it is. they have no place on a video of prestige musical performance. he needs to go to his little wayne vids where he belongs.

  • Comment removed

  • man if his hands can move that fast, i would sleep with him...

  • @Kaelthas08 do u want unisom or condom? =)

  • @PianoTHIS probably a condom :P

  • Luv that hair :P

  • Wilhelm Kempff... Frédéric Chopin.. Freddy Kempf.. his name is the combination of 2 of the greatest piano players of all time.. and his talent really lives up to his name.

  • @onceigoblack That's what makes it all the more sexy.

Chopin is awesome, always was, always will be. :)

  • @lllllllllllllll88 i used to play this piece by memory. one day in highschool, i challenged one of my classmates at it even when i knew i didnt remember the notes anymore. it made her feel good telling me "i beat you" to me. i hate people now :) and dont make them feel good at all lolz.

  • @onceigoblack - All people? ( :

  • Freddy,I was trying to write you on facebook, but you probably have closed your profile...Just wasn't sure if you know that E.A.passed away....

    Natalia Kartashova

  • Freddy,I was trying to write you on facebook, but you probably closed your profile...

Just wasn't sure if you know that E.A.passed away....

    Natalia Kartashova

  • His hair is made especially for this piece.

  • @MrPneunomia - lol so many people say that. lol he's awesome though. he can play his hair off. lolololz

  • Hi! I'm currently learning Revolutionary Etude. I would like you to look at my Forum on my website: Free Piano Sheet Music PDF Files (which is on my page) and give me all the advice you have to play faster and anything you think of to help me with this piece! Thanks.

  • @MusicClassical1 - Good luck! I'd love to hear the finished product. I might post mine as well. I love this etude. It's a real challenge, but it's also frustrating at times. lol

This is how I will tackle it. You may not like this way. But patience is key here because we all want to zoom through it and play it fast and it will fall apart. It's already happened to me so I'm changing my approach.

  • @MusicClassical1 - That's a nice website , but doesn't have the pieces I'm looking for. We both have the same featured piece on our channels; namely, this piece. Check out mine too. She stress the first note of each beat in the first few measures. It's also written that way, but no one does it except Idil. I love her vesion and I try to play it like her.

Your websites are very nicely designed. I should send you a message rather than spamming up Freddy's video. lol (I will delte)

  • I like that he has his own untraditional interpretation of this piece.

Although I do not like the particular interpretation as much as some other.

Classical music is too much about following rules rather than playing something with emotion.

  • Great playing, amazing music

  • Great, bit too fast but nice

  • fail fail FAIL !!! pure shame!!!

  • @KapitanWarszawa497

post your interpretation, then we can compare, ok? :-)

  • @KapitanWarszawa497 - NOT!!

  • This guy doesn;'t play in the slavic style of Chopin. He has no poetry either. Better to listen to Ashkenazy, the real Chopin player..

  • can't really give it thumbs up one account of the faggy curtains....

  • ERROR....

  • A German man and a Japenese woman walk into a bar..

  • @jonnyrolfe13 .. and soon produced this GENIUS. You didn't finish.

    ( :

  • chopin wrote this for people with that hair! awesomness!

  • This is wonderful!!!

  • Why have 44 people voted no? I just can't understand it:

One of the best pianists in the whole world

    Chopin's Revolutionary etude

    High image and sound quality

    Great interpretation

    ...

    Is it jealousy?

    Michael

  • @michaeltheace - YES!

  • how is he an English when he is fathered by a German?

  • @randominitializer Are you under the impression that people's nationalities are determined by their father's nationality? That's a new one on me. Where is this law in effect?

  • @oyapeg are you under impression that I was talking about nationality? Then read my post again and use the precious but presumably unused grey matter in your head to understand what I actually meant. I was talking about ETHNICITY, not nationality. A black African can never be called an anglo-saxon, regardless of being a British citizen by birth or law.

  • Just finished watching him a few hours ago. Amazing pianist! And yes, of course the hair made it ten times better. XD

  • Freddy Kempf is my favorite piano player, I don't care about anyone else's criticism, just enjoy the music!

  • lol he just floping that hair

  • He's kinda creepy!!!

  • tan solo bien

  • hate new youtube!!!!!!!!

  • wish i could do this.

  • freddy struggle?

  • u can tell he had a german father

  • @Xjordanary - LOL

  • is he related to wilhelm kempff?

  • @weiRdFishYorke yes he was.

  • wow! what a performance! so fast! so tough! so clear! love it. has to be the best.

  • o gosh talk about a SPAZZ!

  • LOve this man.

  • cant get much better than freddy kempf in terms of fingers :D

  • Why the ending not end very well?? Is it because when chopin wrote this piece, he falls asleep or chopin want to make the ending different from any other song?? Cuz many of piano song, end with long notes(semibreves or minim) but this song end with a short notes... By the way great interpretation.. GREAT....

  • @935imagination539 The ending was perfect. Some composers like Chopin likes to leave something to the imagination; "where could it have gone from there" is what I think when I hear the ending to this piece.. it's all about emotion.

  • braaaaavooooo!!!

    it's perfect!!!!

    i loooooove this video!!!!!!!!!!

    GREAAAAAAT

  • zbyt nerwowo gra.....zrywnie. Nie jestem przekonany do takiej improwizacji

  • @suprehe not trying to be offensive, but i've seen too many of these comments. as a student of the piano for 15 years, i feel i have something to say. so suprehe, i bet you could probably play it better. just kidding. put up or shut up.

  • Comment removed

  • @suprehe

    shut up

  • @sockdrama shut up

  • he doesn t feel that etude, he s just playing it, not interpreting

  • excessive pedal no?

  • Just enjoy the damn music.... People and their damn criticism. People bickering about who's interpretation is best... I don't get it. The multiple interpretations is what makes classical music above all in my opinion. If you don't like one's interpretation of a particular piece of music... Move on and great playing by Kempf.

  • @T33VlOn3Dt Agreed ! Thanks for saying so.

  • Comment removed

  • @T33VlOn3Dt That's right! But I must say I really like how he plays this piece.

  • @T33VlOn3Dt That's right! But I must say I really like how he plays this piece.

  • @ JayIvory87: the version played by sviatoslav richter is in my opinion better =) hes not for nothing the best pianist ever^^

  • yes i love Richter's version but i feel like on clarity and speed Kempf surpasses everyone including Richter. Also if u listen very carefully no one brings the same quality of the crescendo/speed to the main melody line. That's just something that stood out most in Kempf's version imho.

  • his hair makes it like 6 times better

  • I love this virtuos piece!

And Kempf played it very well! :D

  • This has to be the best performance of the Revolutionary Etude on YouTube. I can't find anyone who has the same power and who brings so much emotion to the main melody line its almost as if he were speaking to you directly. Fantastic and revolutionary!!!

  • so perfect, so sad...

he's not afraid of emotions, by brilliant technic

  • FANTASTIC!!!! I love Chopin and you play it very well!!
