No quad is the "Best", every quad has it's strengths and weaknesses. The Can Am Outlander 800R is the fastest utility quad, but most say that the Yamaha Grizzly is the best handling. Arctic Cat generally makes the best "work" quad. Etc etc. In the sport quad world, all the 450s are pretty much equal. The wider ones handle better, but for the most part they are all the same, really.

Check the Kawasaki Bayou 250. I have a 2006 and I wouldn't trade it for a brand new 250 of another brand. They aren't the best for going out in the mud (unless you get a 4X4 Bayou) but they are certainly a very reliable and dependable quad, with a surprising amount of power, quite torquey compared to a few others I've been on.
