Surprised to hear the sound of the propulsion drive even far away from the machinery room. Does the elevator feature a top drive? Anyway American hydraulics tend to keep to its own designs and aren't willing to adopt quieter designs from Europe or Asia.

Gluse how long has it been since that motor was installed? Sometimes when elevator motors are just installed, they are very loud. If many people use the elevator come back in a month and see if the sound improved, if not, come back in two months or (if you can) ride it as much as you can to "break it in". Then see if the sound improved.

(Continued from last post) I remember there was a new elevator at the mall I went to and in the beginning it was loud but then the sound improved. BTW congratulations! This is probably the only elevator vid on YouTube that is louder than Alpajlil's (sorry if I mispelled that) video of the elevator at Notre Dame!

They should have modernized the door bumper to optical sensors and make the alarm button work and left the motor alone. I hope this doesn't mean ThyssenKrupp took a bad turn just like Schindler!

They could have also replaced the door protection with an infrared protection strip, relamp the signal fixtures to LED's, and change out the lantern colors to green up/red down.
