  • super sexy woman, super sweet dog.

  • ??? Maybe this is just an L.A. thing---but in Canada to recycle a phone book.

YOU PUT IT IN YOUR RECYCLING BIN. ---- FINISHED!

Then the friendly waste collectors come to your house and take your bin for garbage---and your recycling bins----and your organics bin.

    Ta-duh!

Recycling never felt so good or easy!

  • i got a phone book today!!and it totally reminded me of you and this video haa! :]

  • I still want to see the K80 reading from the phonebook vid. It will never happen. It's just my dream, that's all.

  • yay - sesame street!

  • im like you. but my mom is always telling me, look in the phone book its faster blah blah blah...

  • I send you phone books

  • You must live in the Triangle in NC.

  • HOW DID YOU GET THAT SONG!!!

  • LOL...I was just talking about this the other day. I NEVER use these things...expect if i'm completely board and its sitting right in front of me. Its fun to look at the pictures sometimes

  • Phone books are good for looking at the pretty girls in the escort ads, even though I don't know what an escort is.

  • Wow, you have more phone books than I do in my house. :O

  • I don't understand the comments about phonebooks being 100% recycled paper, like that makes it ok somehow. Don't people think that it takes power to take a book, recycle the paper, then put it all together in a new book?!

  • Thank you! You have sense. Thank you. : )

  • F**k the phone company. Cancel your service and get Skype for like $3 a month- WhTF needs landlines these days anyway??? Every year I drive down the street and see like a thousand phone books rotting on the side of the road cuz nobody want to take their heavy asses inside...BTW they do make good backstops for BB guns and .22s, FYI... Anyway, you're such a hottie, keep up the awesome vlogs!

  • OMG WHERE IS THAT SONG A THE END OF THE VID FROM?!?!?! it's sooo familiar? seseme street???

  • yes - it's the pinball cartoon. you can find it...it's somewhere around this place...

  • You know most of you are correcting Katie on how she didn't know that phone books were recycled, but either way these books are going to be thrown away by people who don't know how to recycle or who could give a dang about it. So what I'm trying to say is that most of all the lovely phone books in the world are predestined to end up rotting in a landfill and taking up every last inch of whatever land we have left to utilize. Good idea about having phone book companies ask us first! :)

  • YP's use recycled paper. I "actually" run a green company and I need the yellow pages. The internet is still very new and not all headings found on the internet have legitimate local results. The internet is also very expensive and I could never afford to get the exposure that I need. I think your just trying to play the green stance to draw attention to yourself. Typical American, rants to hear themselves talk actually knowing little to nothing about the subject they are talking about.

  • That's a wonderful rant of your own. It also has absolutely nothing to do with the fact she does not need 5 phone books sent to her in 2 months. Recycled paper or not, phone books are an incredible waste of financial and natural resources.

  • Yeah it's totally a waste of trees!

  • Unfortunately most of these comments have very little factual data actually in them for instance the one phone book she was complaining about making her think of all the trees being cut down, is made of 100% recycled paper. A tree is never cut down to produce that directory. it is made out the pulp and scraps that are left over, from the lumber mill. By the way when her computer breaks down, she will have to borrow her neighbors book to call for help.

  • I'll send you mine then. PM your address.

  • K80 you're at least one step ahead of the rest of the world...

  • We get those darn things here in Sweden too, but only 2 =) I say lets get a big truck, collect books from all the ppl who doesn't want them (oh maby we need more then one truck...) and dump it on the ppl who makes them :) Not sure why i came up with this (brilliant) idea, but it sounds fun =)

  • your voice sounds like dorey from nemo :P

  • I haven't kept a paper phonebook for over 5 years. In my apt. building there are a stack of over 20 phonebooks that have been sitting there for a year. That means that only 2 or 3 people actually took them. Now time for you to do a rant about junk mail. I'd estimate that 98% of all mail sent to me is JUNK!!!

  • you should

  • Just a thought. If you're planning on continuing your hate on hippie's and the environmentalists...I urge you to learn how to spell those words...you know... to make your case stronger.

  • I work @ Yellowbook and apparently you should do some more research before you go on a bichfest! Yellowbook uses 100 % recycled paper for all of the directories...so its not trees that you see...Next, 30 % of the population still in 2008 DOES NOT own a computer. We are not mind readers, we deliver the book to every door no matter what, that is our JOB! If you dont want the book, recycle it then...we give you a # to call to recycle it just for whiny babies like you!

  • You didn't watch the whole video did you? LOL!!

  • TIMBER!

  • hahahahah 5 phone books

i agree with you, stop sending them plus at&t are retarded i hate them they should die

although sprint is worse.... fuck sprint

  • yes. yes indeed. you sir, are a very perceptive lady. In fact, in light of you being a lady a take back the whole 'sir' thing. That was dumb. Phone books make me want to cry.

  • a good and valid point there, i never even thought about it, take me in every year off the doorstep, shove em on a shelf then every time i need a phone number i use the internet. they should let us opt out of receiving them!

  • They will let you opt out. Give them a call. They'll stop sending them.

  • the thing is...............it's huger than huge and yet if you DO use it to find a number, it's never there. never. worthless.

  • Thank you. Worthless.

  • GO KATIE! i'm sorry, this is a BLOG! in laymans terms, its someone talking about things that THEY want to talk about, not YOU! i'm sorry if this doesnt reach YOUR standers, so i want to give a universal apology to everyone that watches this vid and is expecting some discussion on a serious topic that is affecting our world which YOU want to hear about. unless you want to help the environment, or have an equal understanding of the irritation caused by the phone book companies.

    have a nice day :)

  • LOL!!! : )

  • i agree, i think you are just looking for some internet time and decided the yellowbook would be something to rant about. That is so SAD. War, poverty, crime, death, shitty politics, economy tanking, inflation, high fuel prices, world events, and all you can rant about is getting free recycled yellowpages??? recycling is just another thing you have to do now?.... from the look of things and the amount of videos you post, it looks like you have PLENTY of spare time and have nothing better to do

  • Wow!! You have to admit the irony in the fact that the video you posted is about free speech, yet you bash me for talking about what I want to talk about on my own channel. No shit there are bigger problems in the world. Some people post videos talking about Britney Spears' daily habits. I'm talking about something I don't want or need and that's a total waste of paper. Get some perspective.

  • free speech is why you are able to do what you do, rant about useless shit. yes people rant about britney, and things that have no importance at all, good for them... I am just pointing out that you are one of them. In doing research on advertising i came accross your whining, and YES its free speech, but it doesnt take critical thinking or a national movement to place a call and say "get me off your mailing list please". Youtube was great before it got watered down by selfloving whining hacks

  • Madness... i mean totally cluck cluck gibber gibber my old mans a mushroom. madness.

I get like seven phone books a year at work, rubbish... sorry.

I aggree with you completely there foru have met the genius criteria on this one. Well done.

    Bilge.

  • i agree. but then again, what if the power is out or something and u need to get a hold of like someone to fix ure power or something. eh, idk i'm just sayin. just we've had ice storms ilke crazy lately and no power. anyways, just recycle it or something. but i AGREE that they should only send it if u ask for it. thats totally genius. haha.

  • Phonebooks are so gross. I especially hate the ugly yellow page ads.

  • Get the story straight It is Yellow Book not the Other Book (AT&T)... I would hate to be you when your computer breaks. Phone books are made from recycled paper. Get your facts straight.

  • Waste is waste.

The paper itself, along with the resources and energy needed for the recycling process, went into a product that she doesn't need.

Repeat the process on these five phone books and you end up consuming more than you would by just cutting down more trees.

  • If my computer broke I'd go to the Apple Store. I still don't need a phone book no matter what brand. But if you like them and need them that's really wonderful, keep it.

  • LOLOL one time at the store i was working at a lady came in and delivered us a phonebook

and then 5 mins later she came back as like "o i forgot to give you these ones too" and put SIX MORE on the counter!

WHY WOULD WE NEED SEVEN PHONE BOOKS!??!

  • k80, i think you're absolutely right about telling the phonebook people off to STOP SENDING PHONE BOOKS! these people down below are just in denial.

    :]

  • Thank you. They're insane. And they have a strange kinda love with the phonebook.

  • wat i see is a rain forest! damn look at that! it must be 10-15cm thick! and i agree with u k80 i also get plenty of phone books. and who the hell need one... we get ca. 5 phone books per year. and i have a computer with Internet, so i dont need one. And ill take a call to them and tell them to stop sending me one... u get five starts from me

  • I thank you and so do the trees...I'm sure. : )

  • Phonebokks are useless!!! I like the color of ur hair !!!!is that the natural color or not??

  • Not my real color. Shhh!!!! : )

  • What are you gonna do when your oh so reliable all knowing computer breaks? Look up someone to fix it on the internet? Or what will you do when you have a plumbing problem and your house if flooding? Wait for your computer to boot up and search for 20 minutes through irrelevant information? You are an idiot!!

  • I'll go to the Mac store and have it fixed.

It takes 20 mins for your computer to boot up? I think you should get a new computer.

  • they have to if they dont its fraud and they can be sued... in addition its recycled paper and what if we have a power out then your "PHONE BOOK" is useless

  • I'll send you mine then.

  • poor trees!

  • recycled paper my friend...if u dont need a phonebook tell them...they recycle the old ones into new ones

  • Wha?

This chicks been getting the Yellow Pages her entire life. You'd think that if she was so concerned about their impact on the environment, she would have called to stop receiving them a long time ago.

And I love this: At the beginning she says, "If I need a number I look on the computer." But when she decides to finally make that call, she gets the number from the phone book.

    So sad

  • Prove it. I never look in the phonebook for the number dip shit.

  • Oh yeah, thats the computer you're looking at when trying to dial the number.

Oh wait, no its definately not.

This isn't about your concern for trees, its about your concern for internet face time, dip shit.

    so sad

  • I wrote the number down on a piece of paper cause I had imovie on while recording. You don't know everything my friend.

  • Sure.

The point remains: this "rant" isn't about your concern for the environment. You've been receiving the yellow pages for years, probably for your entire life. If you truly cared about their impact on the environment, you would have taken action to stop receiving them a long time ago. But you waited until there was a camera in front of you to make that call.

    Poser much?

  • Actually I did it in front of the camera to get others to do the same. That's kinda the point of vlogs. I do care. But clearly there's no convincing you. You are all knowing. Good luck with that.

  • Let me help you because you're clueless...

Never once in this "rant" do you encourage anyone to call the phone company. You don't even call during business hours, not smart. So there goes that argument.

Now to determine if this "rant" is about your internet face-time or the environment: The word environment is used twice (in the same sentence) in this entire video. The words "I" and "me" are used more than forty times.

    You're a fraud.

  • I like how you said computeeeeeeeeeeer

  • aww simon just wanted to show his hatred of phone books too! ^_^

  • OK, I won't send you any more.... I promise!

Now that's really an interesting topic. I never really thought about it but you are right. Those darn phonebooks ARE a waste of paper for most people nowadays.

On the other hand: Which government gives a flying fuck about environment? Tell me one.

I know the phonebooks don't directly come from the government but indirectly somehow they do for sure... through the postal service maybe? Probably.

Where do they really come from? I'd like that to know...

  • the phone book has NOTHING to with the governemnt. The Yellowbook isnt even a phone company directory, it is a private company...and we deliver the phone book OURSELVES! Again, we are 100% concerned with the environment which is why we use 100% recycles paper

  • Still it would be worlds better if you wouldn't send them to ANYONE nowadays but maybe only to people needing or wanting one.

I mean cyberspace isn't good for the environment either, but... to look up the few phone numbers one needs takes less energy then producing a whole new phonebook.

For example one google search uses up the power of a bulb that would emit light for 1 whole hour, all those servers use a horrendous amout of energy. Still phonebooks do more harm to the environment as you see..

  • I still dont think you understand...what harm does a phone book do to the environment??? You care so much about the environment, you must not drive a car then right...you must walk everywhere...Get over it, its just a phone book!

  • Yeah...actually I don't have a car, I walk and take the metro. Oops! : )

  • @in10sitee calm down kid, chill the bean.

  • AMEN. phonebooks are a waste of paper

  • ohhh you are so so so beautifull

  • Thanks. : )

  • o my god when i get a camera that the people i bought one off decides to deliver WE ARE GONNA GET ON SOOOO WELL... ur rants are as beautiful as mine and random

  • Well I'm looking forward to you getting a camera. : )

  • I was worried you might hit the dog throwing those volumes back over your head.

  • LOL!! No...I knew Simon wasn't behind me. : )

  • Phew. Hm, otherwise he'd make the call to get rid of phonebooks faster than you :)

  • You don't need trees? Lucky!!

  • Phonebooks are great. Computers break..

  • Why to love your phonebook? Because of the paper smell (snif, snif: "aaaahhh great!!!").

Old paper smell like the smooth flavour of coffee oh yeah!

Old paper, some Middle-aged mysterious thing.

But, indeed, useless if you have computer with internet. And that internet connection/service is very expensive if you live in certain countries.

  • Geez, I can't express how right you are! I really feel the same way about newspapers! Just imagine how many trees are cut down every day and turned into newspapers! Well, yeah, okay, newspapers are probably a little more useful than phonebooks but still... Tell me if I'm wrong!

  • Yeah...newspapers are more useful than phonebooks. But paper and plastic bags suck too. : )

  • KateeeBug - Not only are you just so right about this, youre soooooooooo damn cute when you do it!!! I LOVE it, and I have the same hate in me and understanding that you do!!! Too funny!!

  • Thanks!! I'm glad you liked it and super happy you subscribed. Thank you. : )

  • You are so RIGHT ON about this issue. Seriously. DAMN those unwantd phonebooks. Hey,hey and those unwanted PENNY SAVERS TOO. Those are awful.

  • I hate the Penny Savers too!!! Grrr!! : )

  • You are a very intelligent woman

  • Thanks. : )

  • why so many phone book in 2 months???we receive 1 directory book and 1 yellow pages in one year.

  • I have no idea why they have sent so many.

  • YOU ARE SOO CUTE

  • Oh I agree

get a phonebook kill a tree

thats not good for you or me

read a phonebook increase the c02 in the air

please look it up online because you care!!!!!

    lol

  • LOL I agree, how archaic! My mom somehow manages to find a use for these things, and she's 65, love her, but move on! The computer works!

  • what is going on in the world?!?!?

I have never ever had a phonebook sent to me.

Once a year, the german telecom sends me a little card, where it tells me to pick up a new phonebook at the local postoffice.

And I find these little card allready very pushy!!

  • when u say german telecom do u mean u live in germany? caz well if u do u speak very normal english. i mean like not as formal as possibel english like u do when u learn a foreign launguage and u do know that the majorite of youtubers that watch this is american rite?

  • i lived a couple of years in england, but i dont understand everything, sometimes i got problem with the pronunciations or slang and i am not quite sure what do you mean with american rite...

  • So true so true , Save a tree

  • I see Trees

  • save them in case you run out of toilet paper.

  • hahahaha totaly random but soo true! I got tons of shopping catalogs too and it's very iritating.

I use them to cover and throw my used menstruation pads. I know, that's gross. But that's a way to recycle them :P

  • I totaly dig what your saying here. I understand, and I relate...I feel the same way. But on another note. Not everyone has a computer. In the end, I agree, it should be by request only. It is very wastefull. Good point either way. Smiles.

    The Misfit

  • Nice vid :)

  • ("That'S Should explain?" --!!!-- I seriously need to quit showing off my bilingual skills before it gets too late...)

  • Absolutely fantastic! Humor is subtle, but is great.

  • Hey katie..? Just outta curiosity, I never met you before or know anything about your background...i watched your videos a good numbre of times. Yes I enjoy them, but Im thinking is THIS Chick GEMINI??? I'll betcha LOL..you are Gemini or close, right? Cause you display the classical charcterristics of one! Anyway..well keep them up going!

  • Haha...close. I'm a Taurus. I bet that makes even more sense. Haha. Thanks for watching. : )

  • So you're a Taurus. That's should explain why I get all your jokes.

Which is bad, because I was already thinking I'm smart; now I've realized it's just that we have SO MUCH in common...

    **sigh**

  • I agree ,phonebooks suck.thier only good to use to start a fire in your fireplace

  • YES! recycle time!! haha i get like 1 phone book a year.... and im too lazy to call and ask for any1 to not bother.. besides half the time, it saves me a trip up the stairs to get to the computer... anywho yes! SAVE THE PLANET you rule k80!

  • Do you have a computer? Good lord worried about the trees? your computer uses power which is a natural resorce. Instead of complaining online with your computer you should have just called and asked not to get them. People make a living outta those phone books.

  • Aaah youtube... providing a public urinal for women to rant in (and guys who think they are women) since 2005.

  • do you want to have sex?

  • Delphi --want to fuck with me instead?

  • You need a phone book just with computer repair companies.

  • gimme your address, and Im going to send you a german phonebook, you'll never see on your PC, and you can call many germans! and Ill add some candy if you like...you really make me worry *sigh*

  • haha

  • do you not normally recycle paper at your house? just throw them in the recycling bin, that's what we do. :)

  • Well, since you will always get them, have you thought about checking into phone book recycling centers. We have them in Kansas. I bet you could supply your own green toilet paper for a few years with those phone books!! LOL

  • Hi K80Blog, Those books represent the livelihoods of countless, nameless advertising account reps whose life's work it is to convince local businesses to spend significant bucks to have their names emblazoned within those hallowed pages. Thus saith the Lord of ATT, Amen. This comment was brought to you by the number 8.

  • They'll never get rid of the phone books until local businesses stop paying for all the advertising in them. Until then, AT&T will never turn down the almighty buck they so easily continue to make off the other corporate minded idiots still willing to purchase what amounts to be an increasingly obsolete way to advertise. AT&T could care less about us not wanting the damn things or even how relevant they are in today's world, as long as it lines their pockets with corporate ad money.

  • With all the (literally) billions of pages they print yearly for every (soon-to-be obsolete) phone book in this country and elsewhere, hopefully they are all made out of recycled paper to begin with?

Nah, that would be too much like right. :\

  • SAVE THE TREES SAVE THE TREES.

  • haha only k80blog could get me to sit and watch a video about phonebooks .. great job

  • poor book! :( You are a killer for the traditions!

  • I have no need for phone books, telephones,tv,or women for that matter...I have a computer.

  • Are trees really on this list of "Things there is a shortage of"?

  • omg i looovvveeee this video. u made me laugh

  • stop bitching about 'killing the enviroment' when you just said you throw them in the trash, you're no better than they are

  • you're a cry ass, ever hear of 'recycling', if you don't fucking like it, or need it.. then recycle it, you stupid bitch

  • Thats getting your point across LOL I bet she is something to live with HAHA.

  • Yes, maybe you should consider a computer hazard. But in this special case, I mean cmon sweetie, I would rather advise you to ring your neighboors door, cuz you already need a big hug and a kind man to talk to.

  • the first ones were funny but now no more

  • we don't need any paper at all, we haven't for about 10 years, but old people like to "feel the book in their hands" and "cuddle up next to the fire with a bottle of wiskey and a book" or some other weird fetish, and that's why we're still cutting down trees. all we can do is wait for all of them to drop dead, it'll happen soon enough.

  • Oh and what do you do when your internet goes down? I was out of interent connection 3 days this week.... out of my control. If it irritates you so much, I would keep calling :0)

  • Not everyone has computer, not everyone is computer savvy, not everyone has the interent. Have spoken with an older person lately? There are many who don't use the internet for such purposes. Call your local phone company and have them stop delivering. Plus, you can recycle phone books here too. Don't assume everyone has the technology that you do.

  • hehe please try to hit the picture behind you whenever you throw the phone books!!

  • it is a fucking yellow book

ppl make new trees so they can cut the other ones down

    get over yourself

  • Lol, she must be joking.

  • Try to rip a phonebook on your next vid.

  • one time i got four of five within a week. all the same phone book. geez.

  • You need to stop hoarding fonebooks.

  • How do you have a phonebook on the computer?

  • sooooooooooo true.

  • My rage concerning phonebooks has now peaked with your video!!!! Damn thee phonebook senders, DAMN THEE!!! Leave them to the homeless for toilet paper.

  • Let me get this straight. You don't want phone books?

  • I think I might fancy you?!

...I definitely liked the the vid though.:)

  • Hey, get in line, buddy!! LOL

  • *British Accent*:-

"Well Sir, then a DUAL TO THE DEATH!...

..... Pistols or swords?" :) LOL

  • There good for throwing at door to door salesmen who wont get off your front doorstep - nice and heavy - good impact value

  • I see trees! *lmao*

I guess you could give them to people who do need them. Or to people who don't have a phone at all. No that would probably be mean but then they could use them to start a fire or something.

  • Jeezuz crist! Wat a rant! Somebody hit her on the head with those books :-))

  • Ripping phone books in half is so played out these days. :P

  • Give 'em hell, Katie! It was so good to see Simon's cameo appearance. He's up there with DeNiro now!

  • I want a kiss from Simon!

  • phone books will stop coming when there is less of a need for them and less money to be made through them. consider it junk mail if you don't want them.

  • The problem is, some stupid companies came up with the stupid idea that they could compete with the phone company (!) by making their own stupid phone books with their own stupid ads, so now you get several of the damn things. Idiots.

  • is that so...?

  • this is why i love you...you make too much sense!

  • You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. Phone books should only be given to convienence stores and perhaps the grocery store-- some central place where people who NEED them can get them. IT's ALL TRULY BANANAS!

  • you don't actually HAVE to recycle them, good rant

  • If the phone books keep my phone bill down. More phone books.

  • My goodness you could insulate a hobo with all that paper...

  • Or burn some over privileged white girl who cares about the environment.... lol, but would unwittingly make an over privileged white girl comment about the poor in her country.

  • LMAO Right on! Actually I was just going to send you a phonebook but I guess you don'tneed it :)

  • haha.. so true

  • why dont you go online and contact those companies and tell them you dont need them any more.

  • lol very nice "their closed"! lol k80 they will probly always be closed so you cant conplain but i know what u mean

  • Do you have a fireplace? These things make kick ass kindling. They also work great as booster seat. Not kidding you! You could also check out user "Gnatso"'s "Phonebook Prank" for his idea with old phone books. Or you could go on an origami binge.

  • Katie, PLEASE Answer me THIS: Which is WORSE? Getting YellowPages delivered? OR... YellowPages Phone Book, AND Verizon, AND OptimumPhone, AND... GAWD! A fricken Phone book for every freaking Phone service that exists? Are they for REAL? So, if I am w/o a computer (which I certainly am not), I must first find out the other party's telephone service provider before I can look up their number! Thank GOD for anywho
