The riff needs work - needs 'funking' up a litle to stay within the original context within it was written - it sounds too pedestrian at this tempo. I interpreted this riff by reproducing the original hammond line directly (as far as poss!)using the A, E & D strings and it seems to work. The over-indulgent solo could be cut in half as well. Sounds good - keep at it. Is that your dad on drums?.....
