Well, it's nice to see they at least upgraded the warning on this crossing to cantilevers AND a traffic light. I remember when it was just masts and signals. Must have done this when they rerouted 127 around St.Johns all those years ago. Sadly, I haven't been up that way since then.
@Crunkberger yeah i make the trip 3 times a week and I still don't....I sometimes swing through Middleton to see whats there and on a hunch sometimes i catch it coming back
The locals heed the crossing warning, the flatlanders are in a hurry to get home. Surprised to see it used for a longer train. For quite some time, nothing much happened there. A couple of rotted old wooden cars ( gondolas?) sat just to the east of the crossing for a few years as best I can remember.
First off, a bunch of idiots ran not only the crossing signal, but the red light as well. They did the same thing when the train passed. The cars should have waited until the traffic light turned green, and the crossing lights quit flashing. The people that crossed while the light was red and the lights flashing should have gotten a ticket!
Theres a similar crossing like this by Tipton, Ind where NS crosses busy US 31. Except the trains go much faster!

With that many cars being pulled out, you'd think that spur would be used much more frequently.
