  • Age 10 = Disney Land :)

    Age 20-25 = war :D

    Age 80 = Die Proud :>

  • does anyone else think the guy at 1:01 looks like wiz khalifa?

  • @Ladyboy69er and I hate pretentious douche bags that insult movies, and they were going crazy in the movie like the soldiers in vietnam

  • @ladyboy69er you're profoundly stupid.

  • saigon

    shit

    still only in saigon

  • am i the only one who thought this movie was totally bizarre?

  • @FloridaBoyNick yea I found it really psychotic lol but it's a masterpiece

  • @FloridaBoyNick ever read "heart of darkness?". read it and itll all make sense

  • The movie was filmed in The Philipppines. And now, the latest installment of the Jason Bourne action-film franchise, is currently being shot in Metro Manila, Philippines. It's more fun in The Philippines. :)

  • man i saw this movie when i was 10 or 11 and it just blew me away.i had seen plenty of war films before but not like this one.looking back now that was a legendary cast, sheen , brando, duvall and a very young larry fishburne.i loved duvall's character thought he did a great job.that's so cool a few years later you had martin's son charlie in platoon which was great to.

  • @MultiJman69 Don't forget the young Harrison Ford and Dennis Hopper

  • the placement of "the end" by the doors at the first 10 seconds of the trailer gives me the chills every time.

  • Possibly the worst cast movie in history. Apart from Robert Duvall, the choices for the Willard and Kurtz roles were poorly made. I think the movie says more about the self indulgence of the director than anything meaningful about the Vietnam War.

  • Ah the Vietnam war, one of the most disgusting crimes of America in the past 50 years.

  • @Shahin2102 Kinda up their with the trade buildings and continual torment of countries socially poor and rich in finite resources.

  • So glad you fuckers lost that war!

  • Brilliant brilliant movie; unreal. Blew me away when I first saw it.

  • what the hell, they make harrison ford play as some nerd?? he could have played a major role instead of this...

  • @shivanebangkok2008 He had only beeon around for one previous movie. He wasn't yet what he would become.

  • @shivanebangkok2008 And who exactly would you have had him replace? Certainly not Brando, Duvall or Sheen? Ford got saddled with a fairly uninteresting character, sure, but the movie didn't need him.

  • @TheVanillaMidget I would rather have him replace sheen

  • @shivanebangkok2008 I think it was the role of a lifetime for Sheen. I think he was a perfect choice, and it's what he'll be most remembed for (well, other than being Charlie's dad). Ford doesn't quite possess the dark intensity the role requires, in my opinion.

  • what´s the name of the song in the star of the trailer?

  • @Bertan907 The Doors - The End

  • Weird trailer. Amazingly amazing movie, but weird trailer.

  • 1. Pause video at 0:00

    2. Open new tab/window and search on youtube for: Vietnam by Crystal Castles

    3. Mute Apocalypse Now Video and Play song over it.

    4. enjoy.

  • This ffilm is so BADASS... Animals WERE harmed in the making of it!! XD

  • WTF? judging from the trailor, doesn't look too appetizing.

  • @theRecONcile

To be fair it probably wouldn't be since it shows the savageness of the soldiers that were supposed to be supressing the savage and notably compares them. It was inspired by the novelette Heart of Darkness which had the same idea.

  • the best movie i ever saw.

  • @raulsoaresg1452 maybe if u didnt write in caps id take u slightly seriously, but from where i see you youre just a spammer

  • It does make sense if you look at it from the natives' point of view. You know, the Americans killing and napalming them. You could consider that the end of the world, their world.

  • The title doesn't really make sence when u think about it... It says "end of world now"... That doesn't make sence

  • @pepper12343 Nirvana now.

  • Instead of having a final in my AP literature class, we saw this film, fuck yeah !

  • @777Atheist

    SO JEALOUS!

  • @777Atheist that says a lot about your school...lol

  • @777Atheist Lucky!!

  • 3:20 reminds me SO much of Billy Bob Thorton in Slingblade. When I see Brandon in that moment I can just see him saying. "Some folks call it a slingblade, I call it a Kaiser Blade"

P.S. I'm 35, so yes, I know this movie came out a long time before Slingblade.

P.P.S. This Comment is -not- a dis, so you movie purists should take a deep breath...

  • Just a little fact - the country was called Vietnim (and i think to this day, it's people call it that) but the americans didn't think Vietnim sounded threatening enough so they changed it's name to Vietnam as it sounds more dangerous as a propaganda attempt

  • @thambidge I think it's just ambiguous pronunciation. Kind of like Gadhafi vs Kadhafi.

  • @Christhefireshark You'd think but no =/

  • Heart of Darkness-_-

  • @XxOnTheStars94xX definately one of the best books i have ever read. also this movie is good. the one line i remember from the movie is also the last lines that kurtz says in the novel as well, "the horror, the horror".

  • is there a MG 42 German mashine gun 2.30?

  • @mindasas0karabasas its an m60

  • @mindasas0karabasas its a M60 which was loosely designed on the german gun

  • @mindasas0karabasas No, that was an M60 7.62mm MG. The M60 was partially designed after the MG42 which was known to be one of the best crew served machine guns of WWII.

  • "Terminate...with extreme prejudice"

  • @icepicksnowmanzzzz its anti war film each random mess is all trying to show what was wrong with war whether it be french dinner or Kurtz

  • @Olivere118 clearly u don't know definition of apocalypse- complete destruction of the world. In this sense the complete distraction of the soldier world around them because their serving in vietnam. U just insulted anyone who served in vietnam because that what it was really like I'm going to leave this with FUCK U

  • I dont even get the movie. What kinda "Apocalypse" is this? Its a movie about some american soldiers doing the same thing over and over again as all other Vietnam movies.. Go out shoot some NVA, Fuck some whores and play cards. Oh and they also smoke cigarettes and drink coffee. I guess thats what this weird kinda "apocalypse"'s supposed to be. Stupid movie!

  • @Olivere118 Just curious, what movie did you watch? Could not have been "Apocalypse Now" Because pretty much nothing you described is in the flick. The title of the movie came from a button that Hippies used to sport that read "Nirvana Now" The Story told by Brando of the VK cutting off the arms of the children who were vaccinated was a real life event. Stop being a douchebag and watch the film b4 you comment on it.

  • martin sheen is so sexy

  • the original voices in these old trailer of the film is like on high pitch. the bluray redux is just a breather. its awesome my friends.

  • Personally, I like Platoon better. That's just me, though.

  • @IcePickSnowmanzzzz

I first saw it when I was 14 or 15, and couldn't appreciate it, due to my immaturity. I watched it again many years later and it's since become one of my all time favorites. It's a masterpiece.

  • @FaceInTheRain it IS a masterpiece!

  • i heard so much talk about this movie and myself being a big war movie fan finally decided to watch it. Major disappointment. it wasn't a horrible movie it was ok. its just defenitly not as good as everyone says it is. Also id be reluctant to call it a good WAR movie. i mean the whole indian tribe at the end?! the movie i thought was nothing special. Defenitley inferior to saving private ryan, platoon, black hawk down and other great war classics. Overrated. not on my top 10 war movie list.

  • What's the song at 3:29?

  • Where are you from?

  • 5 star

  • I'm gonna spend the weekend in the basement with dad's old vcr, watching a whole bunch of these movies. Apocalypse now, platoon, full metal jacket, red dawn. Then maybe I'll put on some bdus and feel really fucking manly for a while.

  • @AYBABTUpwnt

Make sure to drink some beer and spit while you're at it. Lol. :)

  • this movie is like a picaso panting some of it dosent make sense and in some cases none of it makes any sense at all but its popular anyway

  • Best. Best ever.

  • One of my favorite movies and my favorite war-movie. I always say Kubrick's my favorite director, but Apocalypse Now is a masterpiece and it's way better than Full Metal Jacket.

  • he,s gonna smell like hot dogs!

  • shit i had this movie in my basement for so long i'm gonna watch now

  • ''seemed to lead into the heart of an immense darkness''

  • many movies shot in southeast asia were mainly shot in The Philippines

  • @jowgashoalin77 Yes. The Hippy Photojournalist at Kurtz's compound.

  • Victory smells like Napalm.

  • This movie took so long to make that they called it "Apocalypse Forever"

But it`s still probably the best movie ever made.

  • Why do people compare this to Full metal jacket? Ive seen them both and to be honest, they are completely different

  • Yup. Good.

  • 1:52 Colonel Quaritch from Avatar.

    Thumbs up if you agree.

  • @CarlosMarti123

    Colonel Quartich from APOCALYPSE NOW.

  • havent seen this. i like vietnam movies. should i watch this?

  • @BEARARMZ hell fuckin yes you should!

  • @noobslayerify its it worth buying on dvd or blue ray?

  • what a fucking cast.

  • May the force be with you martin :P

  • Charlie Sheen looks SO MUCH like his dad...

  • its harder to watch some movies again, after they have been parodied

  • VIATFUCKINGNAM BABY!!!!

  • So that's what Martin Sheen and Robert Duvall look like when they were young.

  • Apocalypse Now did have some Hendrix like vibes in it, it's the scene with the black soldier who blasted the Vietcong on the loudspeaker, the guitar was wailing!

  • @Kevra777

That was one of the coolest scenes. The Roach was the man.

  • so are the terrorizing vietnamese farmers or what?

  • Apocalypse Now is definitely the best of Vietnam war films, Full Metal Jacket would come in 2nd.

  • @TroyTheEditor the first half of FULL METAL JACKET practically ripped off the 50s jack webb movie, THE D.I. as well as the '70s tv movie TRIBES.

  • In my top 40 films of all time

  • amazing!

  • 31 people have never smelled victory.

  • BUY YOU A CASE OF BEER FOR THAT ONE!

  • didn't like the movie

  • deeper into the heart of darkness...

  • lol at young Laurence Fishburne @ 1:06

  • MArtin sheen is winning.....

  • "The Deer Hunter" was right up there, too.

  • @primusvix and the bridge on the river kwai

  • the charlie sheen version is winning-er

  • I will never forget the day in 1979 or 80, when I walked into the Bellevue theater in Montclair, NJ as a naiive 14 year old boy raised on the righteous, Hollywoodized John Wayne/Audie Murphy idea of war, and a couple hours or so later, walked out disillusioned, disgusted, and a lot more grown - up. Thank you, Mr. Coppola, for that - and for the gangster movies too.

  • @deedeethekingofqns I go to the bellevue all the time. I saw Appollo 18 there last week.

  • fuck a duck is that Indiana Jones Jr ?

  • CAVALRY

  • I'm studying Heart of Darkness for A-Level. Someone said "You know, there's a war movie based on that?"

    Thank You God!!!!!

  • @thepastry Thanks for your subjective opinion.

  • @docroe101 Is that not what this "comment" section is for? Or is it just because my opinion may differ from that of others?

  • @thepastry I think even Kubrick would've disagreed with you there. He wasn't extremely proud of FMJ - nor were any of his die-hard fans, including me. It's a good film, but it's dry & ultimately unsatisfying, especially in terms of Kubrickian integrity. At the very least, Apocalypse Now gives you more to chew on. The first half of FMJ is notable, if only in comparison to the second half (which is arid, tired &, in turn, tiresome).

  • @thepastry you can die and no one will ever miss you. Enough said.

  • @SuperASSBLASTER69 Completely uncalled for. What a cunt.

  • Comment removed

  • @thepastry Sorry but you must be on crack. This film is far better. Imo :)

  • @thepastry I'm going to put this out there... No one cares

  • @thepastry Full Metal Jakcet = overrrated. I'm glad that movie wasn't nominated for anything.

  • @thepastry Apocalypse Now OWNS Full Metal Jacket (or any other war movie ever made for that matter). Don't get me wrong, I think Full Metal Jacket is a good movie, very good. But I would not on put it on Apocalypse Now-level.

  • @thepastry No no no no... This is the best vietnam movie.

  • @thepastry full metal jacket is good, but sorry, it is nothing on this, this is the greatest Vietnam film ever, EVER. Not debatable.

  • @thepastry Far from better.

  • @thepastry That's a big argument. In the mean time, I'd say Apocalypse is opera, Bizet, maybe, and Full Metal Jacket is Tom Waits.

  • @thepastry both movies were co-written by michael herr, though FULL METAL JACKET also ripped off some previous drill instructor movies, and kubrick even took d.i./actor lee ermey from a prior vietnam war movie, THE BOYS IN COMPANY C.

  • @thepastry Both of the are good

  • I like the smell of napalm in the morning... smells like victory

  • just watched this movie. the acting is phenomenal and its now my favorite movie

  • ...this mission all so they can kill one of their own guys who not to mention is successfully kicking the enemy's ass but they dont like his style.

Brilliant! Theres also so many scenes that are just so clever like the one when L. Fishborne dies & they make it really trippy & finally as the fighting stops its totally silent except for a tape of his mom talking to her son who just died.

  • I can't even begin to describe how fucking brilliant this movie is. 1st of all the whole Dantes Inferno feel to it how its like they're traveling into hell & the more fucked up things get the deeper they go, how 1 by 1 the crew starts dropping, prob. most of all how the overall plot of the movie makes a perfect statement towards the general fucked-upness of that war b/c its like heres Sheen going into Cambodia, which is off limits, to do what kill one of our guys. Most of their crew dies on...

  • It is was shot on the Philippines . . . instead of Vietnam . . . I love the Philippines which is my country

  • Shit, the cast to this movie was stacked, it even had Harrison Ford.

  • My my, Don was a 'nam veteran....

  • My music teacher was in this movie. I'm glad to be his student :)

  • @ebismanos as an extra? :L

  • @Scwirul Yeah. He played as a soldier. He showed us pictures of himself and the some of the cast members.

  • 30 people are errand boys, sent by the grocery clerk, to collect the bill.

  • one of my fave movies ever

  • Many people don't understand what this movie is. This movie has a face. This movie is your friend. And if it is not, then it is an enemy to be feared. And I remember when I watched this film.... I... I-I cried... like... some... grandmother.

  • my favorite movie. for so many reasons

  • 1:06 morpheus (laurence fishburne) dodgin bullets

  • 'Apocalypse Now' is an adaption of the novel 'Heart of Darkness'

  • OMFG where is the good music??

  • Comment removed

  • i love the smell of napalm in the morning

  • @SDloco100 lol

  • my favorite movie's 1:Apocalypse now 2:the godfather pt. 1 3:rain man 4:silence of the lambs 5:pulp fiction 6:rear window 7:matchstick men 8:dawn of the dead (original) 9:shutter island 10:untouchables 11:the shining 12:good will hunting 13:clock work orange 14:the omega man 15:the hurt locker
  • You will not see a better war movie than this

  • @MGSmucker64 It's certainly a...fun...war movie; war as fun...

But there's also ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, 7 BEAUTIES, PATHS OF GLORY, BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI

  • I though this was some Maya indian doomsday... :I

  • This is, at least in my opinion, the greatest shot film in its history. Lawrence of Arabia comes in 2nd followed by Barry Lyndon. Thats what I think at least and you would be hard pressed to argue that this isnt at least a top5 for best shot movies including one of the all time greatest movies ever made. It never ceases to amaze me friends.

  • @Joltzz1985 You should check out the last 20 minutes of the 1950s movie AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, trippy and beautifully photographed. And Mario Bava was known for his color thrillers, like BLACK SABBATH ; Fellini even hired him to photograph his episode of SPIRITS OF THE DEAD. The river in DELIVERANCE also looks as good as anything in APOCALYPSE NOW. And Coppola was using Bertolucci's cameraman----THE CONFORMIST is maybe Bertolucci's best.

  • i swear in one of the scenes in this movie when the river patrol boat is ambushed the vietkong are shooting roman candles

  • Joey Diaz cocksuckas!

  • bob saget was in this! :)

  • is that han solo

    wheres chewwie!!!

  • omg thank you basedgod rare!

  • whats the song at the beggining of trailer

  • the end the doors

  • @THEwolfmaster100 the end

  • Man, if Joseph Conrad were alive to see this movie, I bet he would approve. This is probably the best (and only I think) and definitive retelling of heart of darkness I have ever seen. It captures the dark essence perfectly.

  • No Glory for heroes is an award winning short film that looks the psychological affects ww1 had on soldiers and how it would affect many for the rest of their lives!!

  • I thought this movie was awesome when I first saw it, but now I realize how diabolical and totally insane Oliver Stone is. I also reject almost everything from Hollywood since I came to that realization. Screw you Stone, Sean Penn, DiCaprio etal.

    America first, always and forever.

  • @HREIII I loved this movie when it first came out----nutty/young me even wished I had been a few years older, in order to serve in Vietnam, that's how much fun this movie made the Vietnam war seem....in THE STUNT MAN "director" peter otoole (?) even says how somebody made an "anti-war" movie and military recuitment went up afterwards....on a subconscious level, maybe a lot of the teens who love this movie might actually think the war was fun---like rap videos glorifying crime.

  • What's the deal with the hate for this movie? This and 7 samurai are my two favorite movies of all time, and do you know why? These movies take the time to get you feeling connected with the characters... They make sure that you begin to care for the characters' wellbeing to the point of worrying about what's going to happen next. This is a real movie, and anyone who dislikes it enough to post about their hate should be ashamed of themselves.

  • @SPOREthomas (1) This trailer makes the movie seem as though it's a war version of EASY RIDER---with lots of rock music, with Dennis Hopper even from EZ....(2) Another anti-USA movie; it's still illegal in liberal Hollywood to make an anti-communist movie....(3) The racism and movie brutality of chopping the head off a water buffalo---when most Vietnamese are Buddhists...(4) I saw this in the old Times Square----a mostly African American crowd booed at the end.

  • @monk22yrs

your either a troll or just very very stupid

  • @Taobaak0 Hey...kid....I'm over twice your age, I remember the real war on tv, I know Vietnam vets, I saw this movie 6 times when it was first released, in NYC and Philadelphia....and "your either a troll or just very stupid" is a cliched, generic, response that too many people use on the internet in lieu of healthy debate......(my cat, "monk," is almost as old as you.)
