I envy you then.....I love this group and this is my fav song by them, this one and age of consent, I wish i couldve saw this when it came out but i was very young at the time.
id love to have saw them back then but in the early 80s i was 8-10 years old lol. sure wish i could see them now but unfortunatly their not together anymore. id love to have saw joy division too!
I would kill for a full version of this song/video on DVD.. sigh the early version of Temptation is so much more powerful then the over produced rerecording in 87.
@rivetbutt The 1981 Live version at NYC was one of the better versions, but I remember seeing a longer version years ago. this track is absolutely awesome. Good luck my friend you have a good appreciation for creative music.
My favourite New Order song. I first heard this song in a 80's movie called ' Wild Thing ' when a white convertable corvette drives past with this song coming from the stereo. Took me years to find out that New Order wrote and sang it.
Absolute best version of this song I've ever heard. So was this just a once song recording made specifically for the BBC Riverside Session(s)? or does a complete copy of this show exist. I wouldn't mind shelling out some cash for a dvd of this stellar performance. Thanks a ton for uploading.
This track and 'Chosen Time' were broadcast (Jan 4, '82) but also performed and not broadcast were 'Procession,' 'Cramp/Hurt' (as an instrumental), 'Senses,' 'Little Dead/Denial and 'In A Lonely Place'.
1982 - April. The numbers at the begining sort of give it away. Seem to recall from somewhere that this was recorded at the Riverside Studios London the same place as TFI Friday was recorded.
I know what you mean. My wife asks me all the time, how is that you've been listening to them since the early eighties and you still listen to them almost everyday while you work on your computer...? umm.....not sure
@lamfrocks yeah, that's the way I feel about the Velvet Underground.... and in my opinion, this very guitar riff makes an (earlier) appearance in "what goes on" by that band. Ah, but I do love this song. I'm here most nights listening to all the different versions on U-tube.
@number7gracestreet i know what you mean about listening to all the versions on here.Though nothing beats the opening lyrics on the 12".Barney looks about 10 years old here !
I think the 04 / 82 gives it away a little dont you? Great stufff anyway from Riverside Studios. Anyone got the BBC session from 84 in teh studio they can post? I remember Steve Morris getting a sweat up playing 'In a Lonely Place' at double double speed! top.
The show was 'Riverside' on BBC 2

I watched this on TV when it was broadcast, BBC1 had "Gone With The Wind" on the other channel.
I had to plead with Mum to watch it, I called my best mate and told him to tune in.
Bought the E.P. the next day.

Watch for the part when Barney gets shocked by the mic and then he is afraid to touch it again. He gets a little pissed. This is classic footage!
