America leeched and built up a military so that it now has the ability to take with force. It does not look pretty.  Maybe all debts should be forgiven, and people should not be allowed to borrow money any more. It will come down to forgiving all debt, or war. Do you honestly think that America will be shat upon when they have the weapons to change the world? It even gets down to the individual American citizen... Will I pay the debt which was thrust upon my shoulders?

I can't disagree with that statement, it's just that the people who are lumped with paying the debt are no longer just the banks, but now it's the ordinary tax-payers (via the government which makes decisions for them) who are going to be paying the debt while the crooks get paid handsome salaries despite their fuck-ups! I want the government to bail-out my debt too please!

Actually, no. The rest of the world needs to put america in its place, bring it to its ultimate bottom (ie. knees), and force it to reevaluate every policy it has put in place since the 1800's.

Basically, the present financial crisis is due to a breach of public confidence that had been placed blindly in financial institutions, worldwide. To re-instill this confidence every country and every economic block should assemble a new and trustworthy authority at their own discretion for regulatory oversight within this purview.
