oakey is one of the forefathers of all that is good in trance and progressive, but some of the worst trainwrecks I've heard came from him in recent years. not sure why. He's still top shelf though. Tiesto of course is great.  check out Liquid Todd, Sasha, older style Felix da Housecat, Louie Devito, and Ferry Corsten

As a synth / light and sound production guy here in San Diego, I have seen both. Paul is far more original and is less packaged. Further, he is a musician, playing his own keyboards and writing his own music. Tiesto is a DJ, nothing more, nothing less- still great, but very different.
