I hate Utube, I just tried to make the point with other people that this is bloody good, no cuts, no camera shite, just you playing the bloody song, as you stated. And I was banned from stating that your version was better. How sad is that???
Gimme a few hours and I'll make it look like I've just invented the world.
It is better. much better. Don't stop bud, you are still the only version on the net I've seen that can do the whole song in one take, no bollocks.
I personally like the spin this has on things. It isn't SPOT ON (but pretty damned close), but that makes it sound less choppy at the parts where the notes are a bit slurred. All in all, what I'm saying is that it's a very nice rendition. Love it.
If you want any constructive criticism, I'd say make the spaces between those fast notes a little cleaner but... there really isn't much room for me to say anything, this was ideal stuff. Great job!!!
I sort of like this version more then Sakkis or whoevers version. 1. I just like the way this sounds better, and 2. the 'missed notes' or whatever I think make it 'stylishly different'. Its like how live bands seem to play slightly off-key compared to their studio songs and it ends up sounding cooler.
All the notes or not, do not diss Casef, lets not fall into the i'm better than you crap, he is good, okay, be stroppy, not allthe notes, but I think he's damn good, keep it up Casef, waiting for Push bud... x
No harm done, I assure you :) I'm the first one to admit my playing leaves a lot to be desired (as I state in the video info). I blame some of it on my guitar - it doesn't sound very good and feels somehow "not quite right", no matter how I try to set it up, so I don't enjoy playing it all that much, so I don't like to spend the time learning to play something really good. I need a better one. But then there's of course the laziness, general attitude and also my overall limitations as a player.
Back again bud, play this after a few beers with the boys, blows their minds, I know it's not yours, but you take this and make it sing like am orgasmic angel, don't stop, please..
Yep, there's keyboard, sort of Hammond organ sound, which plays background chords and a few guitar complementing solos (ie 1:04-1:15 bit), but it's somehow hard to hear here on YouTube. Stands out quite a lot more on the original recording, though.
Well, although I don't know about leaving out HALF of the notes or more difficult speedy passages, in comparison to the "original" by Press Play on Tape, at least (which I think I'm pretty close to, I just leave out the tapping part at 5:30 and play it differently), well...what can I say. I'm just your average self-tought guitar player who plays because he enjoys it, certainly no virtuoso, not by a long shot. Sorry.
Thanks, but again, I have to point out that it's not really my own cover, I just "recreated" the Press Play On Tape version, so the real credit goes to them.
I!m not that good for CD and besides, you can probably still get the original Press Play on Tape studio recording of this rock cover, "I'm just the man who plays the songs" ;)
As for covering Turrican, I'd love to do that, but I don't see it happening any time soon, I'd need an awful lot of time to think up the arrangements and recording all of the instruments, which I sadly do not have. Live rendering of Agent X by Tim Follin (the ZX Spectrum version) would be another one I'd like to do.
fuck yeah! awesome!

There's hope for this world yet, with ordinary people preserving culture in all its form.
People only now realize what Rob Hubbard pulled off from the SID.
