I've got a lot of connections to this river, mostly ancestral. It's funny, most of my family being from Glasgow, that you can relate and have so much affection for a river they saw everyday.

This song does even more to remind me where I am from, and the fate of the river over the years. I keep playing it over and over. It's making me work surprisingly well on my essay :O

What's the meaning of "So far from the Clyde"? Can you help me?

The song is about a ship's captain who beaches his ship in disgrace, and is relieved of command. The Clyde is a river in Scotland. The ship, after being run a'ground, is stripped and left a hollow "carcass" by a salvage crew...a very sad song. Great writing.

no i dont think this album get lucky is it i believe he will be back but it will be a little longer of a wait tunes on this one are deep may not be too long though hes been on a roll and to hear him talk hes got tunes in abundance that arent released but tweaks them until they are right and fit together like the wind instruments and violin love the storytelling keep it up mark well done

This is an incredible song. Way back when, to dismantle a ship, (I think), they used to ram them right into the shore ("ran aground"), where carpenter/welder types waited to finish the job dismantling them. Mark perfectly nails the bond between man and ship. The Clyde is either referring to the River Clyde, in Glasgow Scotland, or the ship itself, which was built in Glasgow and used to transport Indian labourers to the colonies. That's just my opinion. Incredible song, can't wait for the album.

The "Get Lucky" CD is being released in Europe 9/14 and in USA 9/15 (available for pre-order at his website). I've only heard "Get Lucky" and "So Far From the Clyde" so far here on YouTube and it looks like a definite winner. He is a treasure. I saw him in Boston last July and he nailed every song. GREAT concert! True genius!
