The thing is he is really not an extroverted person, otherwise he would totally eat it up, the girls would see that, and they would shut up. It's like reverse psychology. See, these girls think he is like other movie stars, attention seeking and self absorbed. Rob is actually a very average normal introverted guy, happy to do fans favors, but scared of them in large groups.
I think even a boy band would eventually get to doing what they came there to do. At least when you're a singer, people shut up in order to hear you sing. But Rob... well, obviously he really got himself into a situation where the fans present there are more interested in screaming at his good-looking face than listening what the person has to say. Yikes.
