@Ceh000 No, leave alone that figure. What you get in the US is a believable real world benchmark. In Europe those numbers are ridicolously far from reality due to stupid homologation tests at constant speed on a dyno with very slow accelerations. So in US a 30 mpg car will actually do 30 mpg. In EU a 50 mpg car will struggle past 35 even with the slowest driver ever

@Mawerik024 That's not the reason, it's US Gallon vs Imperial Gallons ... So divide that number (50) by 1.2 (4.54L/3.79L) and you get 42mpg (which is 55mph highway).

@goguhu That makes no sense. I've said that an US car sold with 50 mpg will do 50 and an EU car sold with 50 mpg will not do 50. So there are no comparisons between the two cars and their fuel consumptions.. So no point talking about US gallons and UK gallons. If someone says he's 6 foot being really 6 foot tall and another guy says he's 190 cm when in reality he's 175 the first one is honest, the second one is a lier.

What is it with BMW and Halogen headlights???!! I cant stand the site of them!! They sell $30K ++ cars and they cant manage to add powered seats, a sunroof or a Xenon headlights STANDARD!!?? These have been standard options on both Lexus & Infiniti for ages and even Mercedes and Audi have chosen to make these "features" standard! I love BMW but their perception on what luxury should be is quite pathetic. Only their more expensive vehicles are worth talking about.

whether you like it or not, it's the only hatchback with rear wheel drive, it has no competition on the market. Anything that comes a bit close is the VW golf 4motion, Audi A3 quattro or Subaru impreza hatch.

There is nothing about this car that makes it look ugly to me. It has great proportions and many of the great BMW design cues you get on the most beautiful BMWs.

I really appreciate Van Hooydonk's effort to include the shark-nose design on a little hatchback. It make it look different - yes - and that's what makes it a great looking car!
