  • I bought this Album just before I moved from LA to the hills of Tennessee ,its a wonder the locals didn't burn me to the stake

  • Look at him the king Fuckin amazing!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Your Invited ;

  • Mercyful Fate and Venom may have influenced it, but Black Metal really started with the release of Bathory's first album.

  • @NightShade1218 u r splitting hairs dude

  • hip hop is dead

  • @fitzcannon - Dead?!? When was it alive?!? (^_^)

  • Fuckin' Diamond is flawless

  • Why are people talking about PISS (KISS) on here? they blow ass!!

  • @BUMPERHUMPER21 It's funny that you call them PISS because in swedish kiss means pee haha.

  • LOL... Kiss... started with kiss... WTF dude lol, it was started by Dead u fucking idiot and if you knew anything about the black metal genre you would know that in Scandanavia they didnt get a shit about bands like Kiss. and Kings face paint isnt what Dead called Corpse Paint and MF was around before Mayhem, any way that you try to argue it KISS has nothing to do with it... fucking Kiss what a fag

  • @dembones420 I thought the corpse painted all started with Alice Cooper....

  • @kommisar

Nope it all started with Author Brown

  • @HillaryHitler Well at the very least people shouldn't be mentioning KISS.

  • TONIGHT THE CIRCLE IS BROKEN FOREVER \,,/

  • LONG LIVE SATAN!!!!!! \m/

  • all hail the king!

  • This is isn't black metal, you berk.

  • @thegriefhole

They are one of the bands that started it. With the face paint and Satanic lyrics and such.

  • @Nevadatyler13 The face paint was started by Kiss, not MF.

  • @TheMusicThrasher Actually, the Corpse Paint(that black and white face paint) started with Per Yngve Ohlin, from Mayhem, not with kiss.

  • This is some bad ass stuff, saw this tour when they opened for Motorhead.

  • top level musicians and song writers! awesome composer king is

  • KD is only like fifty something and i hope they catch the bastard that took melissa

  • danish

  • Is King Diamond still alive???

  • @respergu13

    RYmad?

  • This is NOT black metal for fuck's sake. It's brilliant, but it's metal. Stop sticking stupid labels that don't apply on it you fuckig wankers.

  • @Inquisitor6661 You're Wrong Dude, Mercyful Fate Is Black Metal. They Have Dark And Diabolic Lyrics (Black Metal Has This) They Use, Upsidedown Crosses On Their Shows (black Metal Has This Too). Black Metal Is characterized By The Lyrics And The Musicians Style, Not By The Sound of The Instruments.

  • @punk4561 First of all dude, you are way off on this. Black metal is completely characterized by it's sound. The sound of the cold, Norwegian hills at night. The necro sound of Mayhem, and Darkthrone define Black Metal. This was an inspiration to a lot of metal musicians, including those involved in the Black Metal movement. But if you knew anything at all you would know that true BM starts with Teutonic Thrash like Sodom, and Kreator, and most obviously Venom.

  • @AckbarFlakes Venom is Not Thrash. Thrash is Technical. MF Are Black Metal. And You Can Suck My Dick

  • @punk4561 I didn't say Venom was a thrash band, I said Sodom and Kreator were. I meant that Venom had the biggest influence on what was to become Black Metal, obviously they are the band that coined the term. Euronymous named his Deathlike Silence record label after a Sodom track on their debut Obsessed by Cruelty. Mercyful Fate is just plain Metal man, just because the imagery is there, doesn't mean that it's black metal. Slayer had satanic imagery as well, you wouldn't call them blackmetal

  • @AckbarFlakes slayer didnt have it to the degree that MF Had it. King was drinking blood out of goat skulls. Plus they were a HUGE influence on the Norwegian scene that would follow. Definitely first wave black metal.

  • Don't Break The Oath and Hell Awaits are the two best hard metal albums of all time no matter what label you nebulous rejects decide to make yourself feel better by agreeing with. Sorry.

  • no ghosts sounds like the album version

  • Fun Fact: The inverted cross is an old Christian symbol called the Cross of St. Peter. It was originally deemed more respectable to wear it around in public rather than the right-side-up version to pay respect to Christ. So yeah.

  • I hope the King comes to Media Ballroom in Minnesota when he gets well!!!!

  • Long Live the King

  • Hell

  • EL AMO DEL TERROR, CON UNA ROLA MÁS CHINGONA, DESDE MÉXICO EL ÚNICO BLACK MATAL

  • BLACK FUCKING METAL

  • fuck, you people dont even know what satanism is about

read the satanic bible and youll see what i mean

  • Man I think that King Diamond is a class act !!! Gee I don't know if I should laugh or cry at this video ??? Its theatrical at the worst a little cheesy (see the plastic ''simili'' wooden cross lol) but in no damn way satanic !!! Gosh a 5 year old probably wouldn't even be scared off !!! The music is awesome and King Diamond takes his ''role'' so seriously that it makes it almost hilarious and wanting to laugh your head of during all 5 mins of video !!!

  • i do care if it is satanic that is one of the reasons besides musically why i love it D

  • Awesome!

  • waw !!!

  • muiiiiitooooooooooooooooooo fodaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa /,,/

  • I own this video

  • the best song of all time. nuff said

  • Chills my spine!

  • This band is considered part of the first wave of black metal, just because it doesn't sound like Darkthrone or Emperor doesn't mean it's not black metal

  • @15Iodas93 this is not black metal, you moron, its heavy metal, stfu pls

  • @Woundheir i agree, MF are just plain classic heavy metal, but they had an overwelming influence on black metal

  • @lockupthewolves999 You're right on bro. It's actually Queen meets Kiss meets Metallica, but it did have an influence on Black Metal. Much like Venom, and they were awful.

  • @Woundheir MF sometimes play black metal! they are pioneers of the black metal but their style its heavy metal

  • @Woundheir You're right, they are heavy metal. I know that. But a lot of black metal bands use them as an influence. Just like how Celtic Frost and Venom aren't technically "black metal" my bad for the confusion

  • @15Iodas93 you dumb venom is a black metal band

  • they are pioneers of black metal! they are pioneers of metal. they are pioneers of black. mercyful fate is the ultimate. you do not like it? taste of my ass is in your mouth.

  • I wouldn't really refer to Mercyful Fate as "black metal pioneers" The sounds are just so different.

  • Satan is just another fictional character just like Jesus.. King diamond is all about image.. he still kicks ass though!!

  • simply the best, hail to you always king, 666

  • HAIL THE GODS OF BLACK METAL!!!

What a fucking Great soNg!! =D

    Thx King for existiNg!!

  • Ooohhhhh so scarrrryyyyy!!!

  • I think his satanic antics are just as rediculous as the catholic and christian churches (just plane stupid!) but as musicians there top notch!

  • I think you're wanna-be antics as a critic are as ridiculous as Roger n Ebert, but as a douche, you are top notch!!!

  • Okay, but they are pioneers..not the shit of Black-Metal-Nowadays which is stupid.

  • @TheRockin88 yeah blak metal nowadays isnt black metal because some bands use hi fidelity recordings which isnt black metal

  • i think he still rocks...

  • well today you could say thats but when they came out they were hard as hell and cool rythems and very evel i was tripped out on them but i picked millisa over ozzi back in the day and than it was on

  • He should only sing really high, cuz when he goes too low, he becomes tone deaf

  • Nah, the mixture of high and low vocals works perfectly, especially on the albums.

  • @SKITIV they aren't black metal, but they were an influence on black metal

  • i don't care if it's satanic i fucking love MERCYFUL FATE

  • @damianemorocker Satanic? That's good.

  • @IVomitOnYourGod well im not satanic but i love that kind of music, if you like this kind of music listen to urgehal youre gonna love them

  • @damianemorocker ...I LOVE MERCYFUL FATE BECAUSE THEY'RE SATANIC! SATAN FUCKING RULES!

  • best band thad is on aerd

  • when i heard the vocals at the studio version, i thought it was a joke

  • Temazo

  • guitar player on the left is Michael Denner, unmistakable tone and check the back of your record covers

  • Fuck they rule live

  • stop negging...he actually nails the falsetto with a lot of sustain. not bad for a live recording, though the sound q on the vid is sucky...what you're probably not hearing is the overdubbed harmony vocals on the studio recordings.

  • I thought it was a decent performance NOT THAN ANYONE ON MY SISTERS ACCOUNT THAT I AM CURRENTLY POSTING IN WOULD KNOW

I MEAN LOOK AT THE SHIT IN HERE, SERIOUSLY

  • Dude, the video quality is crap. These guys rock live, trust me.

  • Not Bristish metal. MF are from Denmark.

  • classic "British rock"...lol, sure bro. Just wondering what "British" band plays like Fate.

  • Venom does, and they are british =P

  • black metal???

  • no. New Wave of Britsh Heavy Metal

  • nope

  • fuck commercials

  • how come i never hear this kinda shit on the radio? FUCK!

  • cause radio is too commercial!

  • a jesi ruzan...

  • classic metal song from mid eighties...ya

  • Great F**k! - they're all over the place!

I don't think they're even keeping the same time. This has been one of my fave tracks since it was released, but this sounds as bad as when I saw them in NYC in 1996 (or so). Bummer.

  • long live to the king ! fuck yes para siempre

  • I think I have become possessed.....

  • never thought he sings as good live as he sings in the studio - I'm really impressed! just take a look at halford, he just can't do it anymore... many vocalists are horrible live!

  • Mate, Halford hit every note when I saw Priest in Belfast in February... he was on fucking fire.

Iron maiden though, talk about the second coming, eh?

  • that's weird, he didn't when I saw him. in fact, he was looking at the floor most of the time and I think he used a lot of overdubs. have you listened to AoR? they're everywhere!

I haven't heard much of iron maiden live, but yeah bruce dickinson is not all that good anymore. but with "horrible" I mean the likes of james hetfield for example.

  • Bruce Dickinson, not all that good anymore? Fuck you obviously missed out last year... I saw them in Prague and they were incredible. Seriously. Dickinson still rocks every note.

But yeah Hetfield has lost it completely, I heard him actually say Woah and Yeah during Master of Puppets last year in Germany... tragic

  • I have missed last year.

  • The best Fate song ever and so true!

  • I agree!

  • Mercyful Fate!!!! Hail!!

  • In here nobody's sensing the rain!

  • Who'll be the first to fall in a trance...

  • tonight the circle is meeting agaaaaain!!!

  • A fav MF song that I use to play over and over. Love it !

  • Love this song and the entire "Don't break the oath " album. Saw MF and Exciter live in 1984. Wow!!!!!!!

Fans of old school metal should check out VSD from 1987 on youtube. VSD- Kill Your kids, Mental breakdown, Phantasmagoria, and 2 other good metal songs.

  • this song rules! the whole album rules! first time I heard it I was higher than Lars Ulrich's hairline

  • lol

  • Since when is mercyful fate blackmetal?

  • Since King D. is from Sweden...

  • Denmark

  • Of course he now lives in Frisco Texas and records at the Dallas Sound Labs around the corner from my house.

King Diamond / Mercyful Fate forever bitches!!!!!

MAXIMUM QUALITY - ART.........WHAT CAN I SAY......WORDS ARE POOR TO MENTION THE GREATNESS. LONG LIVE THE KING / MERCYFUL FATE

  • have the Don't break the Oath picture LP..favorite song on the albumn

  • Fuck Yeah! Dude, I used to listen to Mercyful Fate way back in the day ('86, '87, '88..etc) Melissa and some other album with Mission Destroy Aliens used to spin on my turn table non-stop. Michael Denner and Hank Shermann played guitar like no other.

  • One of my favorite mercyful fate tunes. i still have my dont break the oath cassette.

  • All Hail King Diamond !

  • I did pretty good with my old band . we covered a few King Diamond tunes back in our day. type in "Steel and Stone" and take a listen to 1 of our original tunes from our title demo.

  • I can I used to cover Come To The Sabbath in a Metal Tribute Band. We played songs of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Helloween, Iced Earth, Mercyful Fate among others.

In my new band I sing Evil off Melissa.

  • YEA BABY FATE ROXXXXXXXX

  • king diamond dont play that shit .....u dont fuck with that dude.....fareal....

  • king diamond is a texan like George W bush.. has been for the last 20 years... i used to be a huge fan from the age of 8 til i was 13

  • this is my favourite Mercyful Fate song, no idea why, just from the first time I heard it, i thought is was great. Its a very evil sounding song, but really rocking as well.

  • Same for me....this or A Corpse Without Soul

  • This is also my Fav MF song and Dont Break the Oath is one of my top 10 fav metal albums of all times.

  • god fuckin damn THEY SOUND SO AMAZING LIVE!!sound exactly liek the album if not better >:)

  • his mic-stand is from a real human.. he broke in to a morgue and stole leg bones...

  • yeah im sure..

  • I heard that too, wouldn't doubt if its true!

  • KD 4ever!

  • El representante de la ironia, el cuerpo del delito para la raza de la eterna oscuridad, Gracias Padre King, destruye los conceptos estupidos de la religion con vuestra irreverencia

  • Saw the Motorhead, Mercyful Fate and Exciter show in 1984. The Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio. Great show. KD pointed at me and dedicated the song Evil.

  • Watching KING DIAMOND Taught me how to sing!!

    A TORTURED SOUL- Rick Black

  • Hey Wyld- He is a consumnate Gentleman; He gives His Guitarists all the space they need to create their magical, otherworldly solos...After Iommi, Shermann & Denner are the Riff Kings; Unequaled!

  • I love KD as he is; but, while I know it is extremely unlikely, I'd personally like to hear him do something different one day (plain rock stuff) just to hear the full range of his voice better and see what we're missing on that end. Not anytime soon, mind you, lest the "mysteriousness" die.

  • this is what old school metal is about! I would love merciful fate to play live again.

  • having never seen them live, i always wondered what Diamond was doing during the solos. Would he be doing feats of magic? Would he fly through the air? i'm sad to see that for a creative fella he wasn't particularly adept at on stage choregraphy a la Dickinson or cooper. Good thing he's got make up a distinct voice. Tricky thing about metal: you better have something to do during those solos.

  • Well KD is no better no worse than most frontmen at stage "choreography" it depends on what day/show/tour/whatever when you see him. Plus during the solo, its not his time to shine, its the lead guitarist, that's why the spotlight shifts to them.

  • You have a good point. After all,... ozzy.

  • I think even the air guitar is too much. It would be creepier if he stood still, walked slowly, or sat on his throne staring at the audience, maybe commanding things to fall from the sky like fake bats ;-P. If for some reason he isn't doing or able to do all out musical 'theatre', I think being "mysterious" is best. Mystery is what makes it interesting and more "believable".

  • yeah!!!!

  • Dude, O.G. heavy metal. O R I G I N A L. Don't like it? KILL YASELF.

  • The song "Death Kiss" is just an early demo version of A Dangerous Meeting with different lyrics. Not unusual for a band to rerecord an old song.

  • Don't Break the Oath was their best release to me. This song has it all. It's too bad King disbanded MF again though because he said he can't make a living off MF compared to his solo project. His new CD is good but I prefer Sherman and Denner behind the guitars. Oh well.

  • Yeah dude I agree, "Don't Break the Oath" is Mercyful Fate's best album, and Sherman and Denner were awesome guitarist's (Into the Coven YEAH!), but and Andy la Roque is a badass too, and Them is by far King Diamond's best album with his project. LONG LIVE METAL!

    -------King Diamond for President!-------

  • 665

  • Sherman's solos drive me crazy

  • He didn't solo in this song. It was Denner.

  • Whow, I guess Denmark rocks!!!!
