  • What you got against Dizzy? He's a fantastic creation :)

  • @cmdfarsight I can't explain it. Nothing rational. He just makes me want to punch him :D

  • @SteveBenway yes I understand irrational hatred lol I feel it for Peppa Pig.....grrrr needs to be made into bacon :D

  • What a great collection SB.. You've got systems I've never heard of so it was a real treat to watch. Rockem Sockem Robots were great!

  • Just one (1) ST game? Oh man! And Dizzy at that!! yuck!

Wish this was 15 years ago. I had about 2500 or so ST games lol. But, I guess, for most games there was a better Amiga version.

Apart from Colonial conquest version 1.1 The best!

Thanks for the video. I wish I had something similar.

  • @Trusteft hit the nail on the head there. Amiga owns atari

  • @zakkattakk89 Although I also owned an Amiga 1200 (1993), I was always more Atari ST guy than anything else. I wouldn't use the word owns for the situation back then. As I said there were games that simply did not exist on the Amiga (and the other way of course). Amiga had very few proper strategy games and wargames, for example the already mentioned Colonial Conquest, but also several others. I wish I still had both an ST and Amiga.

  • @Trusteft no war games? what about armour geddon 1 and 2? and campaign 1 and 2 to name a couple. to be honest i never had an atari, but i remember playing turrican 2 on a friends system. The atari versions music sounds like a game boy!

  • @zakkattakk89 No no no no. Not war games, wargames. It's a type of games. How do we say FPS, RPG, RTS, etc.

I just woke up so I can't think properly, so, here is a link that hopefully explains it well. Youtube doesn't allow links so just go to wikipedia and search for Wargame_(video_games)

Amiga was superior technically, but the ST could do just as well in many graphical levels, but required more work for it.For music creation the ST was far better, but that is another discussion.

  • @Trusteft yes, armour geddon is part of this sub genre you speak of and there are many many. The lemon Amiga website contains over 100 games in the sub genre strategy : war. I agree graphically they where on par, but the Amiga sound was way ahead of its time. i do not understand how the Atari was better for music creation? do you mean easier? because its plain to see the results are far better on an Amiga. I mean just compare the Turrican music, amiga is in a whole different league. Peace

  • @zakkattakk89 I am sorry but it looks like you don't get it. armour geddon was not a wargame. And I used to own both Amiga and ST. I am very well aware of the games that existed in both platforms, especially of one of my two favourite genres. Wargames on the Amiga were very very very rare.

When I was talking about music creation I meant professionally on its own. Not to create games. But music. You might want to check more place about this because I have no interest in teaching it. bye.

  • is it just me or did you speed up the intro on this? lol

  • @madcapoperator It's just you :)

  • @stevebenway wanna play sometime my PSN acct name is badvsgood what games do u have?

  • @thenesreveiwer The only thing I play online these days is Battlefield 1943, though I'm not on there that often. Feel free to add me if you like.

  • Hey, that's all changed quite a bit since we last saw it!!. Love the new bit :o)

  • how much do you want for your house?

ive got £15 and 35 pence at the mo.... is that enough?

  • @emojo1990 The house belongs to my wife, so you can't have it :P

  • @SteveBenway :( darn

  • Whats your PSN acct name sorry i miss speled

  • @thenesreveiwer It's steve_benway

    Original, huh? :)

  • I would die of sheer ecstasy Steve if I ever set foot in your house... you know my love for retro gaming and stuff like that. wow! = )

  • @OldSchoolNYCGamer We can't have that. I have a hernia and would have a terrible time dragging your lifeless corpse down the stairs ;)

  • @SteveBenway - Just throw me out the window with the rest of the trash, haha!

  • I'm surprised that you don't have more C64 software actually, bearing in mind the sheer quantity of it there is out there. Actually on the subject of the C64, any chance of doing a video for a game called "Kings Bounty"? I used to play that non-stop years ago. Keep up the good work.

  • @Cthulhu1970 I only have the games that came with the system, and that I was given. I didn't have a C64 back in the day, so never built up a big collection. I don't think I have Kings Bounty. If I'm mistaken though, I'll do a video of it at some point.

  • Steve, great vid. That Power Pack collection for the Electron, is that the same one that had Thunder Struck and Psycastria on it?

  • @LeShark75 Yes, that's the one. The tape's a bit iffy though and I can't get some stuff on it to load these days. It was never too reliable to be honest.

  • What's your pan acct Steve

  • @thenesreveiwer What's my whatnow?

  • STEVE DO YOU PLAY ANY RPG GAMES,IF YOU DO WHICH GAMES AND CONSOLE,COOL VIDEO MATE

  • @onealseebalack The only RPG I've ever played is Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, which was fun for a while. As a rule I'm not into RPGs though.

  • great video, these are always my favourite ones!

  • WOW when u said price of the jupiter ace sold on ebay i was like WTF. i just bought a new computer and its around half the price of that.

  • Thanks for the room tour. Good stuff!

  • Awesome room man!

  • Thanks everso for the tour. I feel doubly inspired.

  • Yay - I saw those 2 Jupiters on Ebay as well :) I feel like that 5 degrees of separation thing lol I'm smiling now :)

  • @cmdfarsight Quite a few people saw that. It caused quite a stir. Crazy money, but they're that rare, and the ram packs are even rarer. So to have all that, and software... even though it's insane money, it was pretty much what I'd expect it all to sell for if sold individually.

  • @SteveBenway Don't it just make you wish that you had a dozen extra ones :)

  • why do people in the uk have carpets in the toilets?

  • @rorydog02 So they don't get cold feet in the morning? I've never thought about it. We have carpet in the en suite, but not in the bathroom.

  • @SteveBenway its just something i noticed when in the uk,think about it when do we ever have perfect aim he he thats gotta build up a lotta bacteria

  • @SteveBenway think everytime you go to the toilet im sure none of us has perfect aim he he ,think how much bacteria we stand on... yummy

  • got to ask, what do you do with the original VHS when you have transfered them to DVD?

  • @revolutionactiondk They'll go into the loft. I may sell them eventually, or I may leave them to my niece. I never throw anything away if it works.

  • 13:15 ohhh, like the PAL black Sega Saturn games, much cooler than the US white labels!

  • Something I've always wondered is since you have a LCD TV, do you ever experience noticeable lag when play all those really old consoles even the later ones like PS2 and Dreamcast?

  • @OldsXCool None at all, no.

  • @SteveBenway What kind of TV do you have? I'm really wondering because right now I have a HD CRT and of course have no lag issues, but I'm worried about what is going to happen when I need to replace it. I do zero HD gaming and have played on some LCD TVs that make any SD game hell on earth to play. I would love to know what I need to look at to be able to play all my consoles lag free.

  • @OldsXCool This thing is a 32" Sanyo... about 3 years old. More than that, I don't know. Couldn't even tell you what model it is I'm afraid.

  • @SteveBenway No that's ok. I'm sure Sanyo doesn't even make that model anymore anyway. Thanks

  • Great tour there! The game room looks really nice! :)

  • @ClassicGamer82 Thanks. It's a nice room to spend a few hours :)

  • Awww...what did Dizzy ever do to you!

  • @ezelite Nothing at all. I just found them all so very "budget" and wooden, back in the day.

  • what are those gamecube games you own? I can make out shrek 2 but what are the other 2?

  • @madcapoperator Shrek, The Incredibles and Resident Evil Zero. I dunno what they're like. Haven't got round to playing them yet.

  • ah I always like room tours and this was a good one Steve. Liking it!

  • @markvergeer Thanks Mark. I figured with the new cabinets, it was worth showing it all off a bit :)

  • great video as usual man. You should look into getting some of those pastic archival boxes to put your vectrex games in, theyre fairly cheap and theyll help keep the game boxes in shape.

  • @TreasureChestReviews I haven't seen anything like that. Will have to look into it. Thanks for the tip :)

  • Would of liked to see what music CD's you had too. No doubt lots of Gary Newman :)

  • @pappachook It's all old, and yes, there's a lot of Numan, Bowie, The Fall, and NIN.

  • Hi Steve, you could get a Video capture device (usually a USB key device), where you can plugin composite and record better videos of them old consoles.

Some internal cards actually have antenna plug on the back (for recording atari, spectrum...).

    They are usually around 20-30$.

  • @MrStankoman I could do that. I have a capture device. But that makes the recording of my commentary much more complicated, as I do it live... and I just can't be bothered with the hassle.

  • Probably by the time you're done converting them all to DVD, some new fangled format will come out and you'll be converting your DVDs over to data crystals or whatever.

I'm swimming in VHS tapes. Do people still buy them on ebay and such? If I had a car I'd do a car boot sale.

  • @JimPlaysGames Blu-Ray is here already, but I don't have a writer. Pity really... I could fit several films on one disk.

I dunno if people still sell them on ebay, never looked. I don't buy vhs any more... though still pick up dvd more often than Blu-Ray, just coz they're cheaper.

  • I was watching that ebay auction on the Jupiter Ace and 4000, I had a good little laugh at that £2000+. I hope for the guy who bought it, it actually works.

  • @GamingWithStatoke I imagine they'd work. I suspect the kind of person who spends that kind of money may not even turn them on to find out. They'll be going behind glass.

  • why convert your VHS tapes? I love vhs'

  • @FuyuAkiWorld Because they take up so much space.

  • Any 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' goodies?

  • @Fawltykog Nope. I've only ever watched it once, and while I find the premise of that show amusing, the reality just irritates me.

  • cool you have an amiga 4000 as a kid i wanted one of those soooo bad never got one

  • @discopot So did I. Amazingly, I was given this one for free by a chap who was familiar with my website and just wanted it to go to a good home.

  • Great tour Steve, Nice to see the MC303 too . :D

I like the games cabinets, very neat, you have inspired me to have a tidy up at home :)

I saw that post about the Jupiter Ace on ebay the other day, and was amazed by how much it went for !! I see similar things with old synthesizers on ebay, like the Roland Jupiter 8 or SCI Prophet 5, those have fetched over £7000 on occasions when to buy in the 80's was probably no more than £1000. Its crazy what old electrical items sell for. :)

  • @zombieAndy1979 The funny thing about the Jupiter Aces selling for crazy money... back in the day, their main selling point was that they were cheap. About £89 or something.

  • Good to see your amiga,s the a4000,s fetch a lot of money now, just make sure the nicad for your clock does not leak if it does it will damage the clock or the motherboard the common thing to happen on older amiga,s .I wish i never sold my a1200 tower i had mine fitted with an expensive dual cpu phase 5 power pc card and blizzard vision graphics card .it was a 200mhz ppc cpu with an 040 at 25 mhz and 160 mb in memory .was running os 3.9 ..

  • @paulb4uk The 400o's had some kind of conversion done on it, and there's no nicad in it any more. Some little cradle with Duracels wired in there. Looks like a proper job and not a bodge.

I always wanted one of those PPC/68k cards, but could never afford one. Very impressive and hugely expensive.

  • I have a stealth computer, made of bricks and wood panelling, either that, or somehow I've managed to install Windows7 on the fire surround?. That's a nice collection of Dragon/Electron games. :)

  • @atombat So you'll be sitting there this winter watching the coals crackling in the hearth, and suddenly the whole thing will turn blue and you'll get some indeciferable software error message :)

  • Relax Steve, this month RETRO GAMER issue only comes out on March the 31th.

You know you can check next month's issue release date on every RG magazine, in a section called RETRODIARY in the early pages... the last event in every retrodiary it's the release date of the next issue.

Nice gaming room BTW... I always love to see SINCLAIRS and COMMODORES... I wish I could collect them all at once... but I have to wait for no brainer deal. This last weekend I lost a 128k +2B and I bid 100 GBP :O

  • @1UPGameOver

Is the +2b the rarest of the plus 2 spectrums it was only until recently looking around the web i realised there was a plus 2b, i have a plus 2a the grey one with the buggy roms .i do have +2a or b power supply i do not need no means to test it though .

  • @1UPGameOver Ahhh.... that's a relief. I thought I'd missed it, and I have all but two copies since issue ... 11, I think.

  • I also have a grey spectrum +2 but no power supply a friend had one and i took it recently i was going to try it till i realised the psu i had was for the newer black +2 which is based on the spectrum plus 3 motherboard the grey ones have buggy roms in them .I won a psu on ebay when it arrives i will give the +2 a test .

  • So when I magically get that work visa, I can move-in right? I'll sleep right in the middle of all those computers and absorb the good vibes. :D

I might do a room tour just to keep my subs happy, though it won't be serious in any way. I am a bit bored today.

  • @alecjahn You can sing for your supper... in the car... in the rain :)

  • @SteveBenway As long as I get window-side service. I love the rain, duh!

  • @alecjahn Sure... lol.

I always remember that vid you did sitting in your car, playing guitar. It sticks in my memory. Rain's cool, when you aren't actually getting wet :)

  • You forgot to show your alter with Naked Lunch on it.

  • @retread01 There is no Burroughs alter... though there probably should be :D

  • not many nes games then :P

love the room, a mass inspiration on how i want mine lol. Speaking of which what are you like for cleaning and polishing? do you clean and dust off reguarly?

  • @madcapoperator I wouldn't say I keep it immaculate, but you'll never find a thick layer of dust on everything. As soon as it's visible, I dust. I'm not big on polishing though. It tends to leave a sticky residue.

  • @SteveBenway Nothing worse than sticky residue.. hur hur hur...

    Sorry.. I know, I know...

  • @SteveBenway *insert cum based joke here* xD

  • Your handheld collection reminded me of this site:

    pica-pic (dot) com

You should check it out, it's like a million handheld games online.

  • @17R3W I saw that site just a couple of days ago. Can't even remember how I came to be there, but it was very cool :)

  • @SteveBenway

    I saw it on Engadget

  • @ashenclone They're great films. I can't see the sense in throwing them away just coz they're on an outdated format.

  • 0:45 It's like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none. None more black.

  • my god this room is clean for once or what the closest this room can get to clean

  • @theg00dnamesg0ne Phththththt :P

  • @SteveBenway lol

  • Given your love for Spider-man, might I suggest a Spider-man week, where you play one Spider-man game a day on each console for which you own one? There was a great little Spider-man game on the C64 and Amiga. Amazing Spider-man maybe?

  • @FlyingMcDavids You can suggest it, but I only have 3 Spider-Man games, and one of those is bloody awful :)

  • I was beginning to wonder where your Saturn collection had got to Steve until you included it at the end, much to my relief ;-) And might I add that you've got some very decent Saturn titles too! Great room tour. There was literally loads of stuff there that I had no idea about previously. An entertaining and educational video all in one ;-)

  • @TigonVLiger I very nearly forgot all that stuff on the top shelf. Was just about to compress the video when I was like "oh crap.... I forgot a whole shelf full", grabbed the camera and went back in there. Thank god for editing :D

  • Great room man!! Love the many different games you can just instanly pick up & play :)

  • @MooreGamesJay The pick up and play aspect has become vastly easier since Andrea found those 2 glass fronted cabinets for £5 on ebay. Everything was crammed into all kinda of random places just a week ago.

  • Hmm... I saw something lying on the printer with the Starwing logo on it.

    What is was that?

  • @Paikudesu It's just a notepad with some Starwing stickers on it.

  • a gamers wet dream is those two rooms !!!

miss the look of the old cassette games although i dont miss the stress that came with loading them ! .... awesome tour ! ... makes me wanna play play play. :-)

  • @mrbassman25 Cassettes are nice when it comes to stacking, if they're in the standard size cases. A bloody nuisance when they aren't though :)

  • Bible from 1830... very cool! ... and all still relevant today.

  • @TheSentinel3000 I'm very far from religious, so I won't make any claims for its relevance, but I do believe the King James version is the best English translation, and I love old books. I'm kinda scared to open it though. It's very fragile.

  • @SteveBenway That's an amazing family heirloom...and it would be tough to treat it with anything but gentle care. I find the Bible to be an amazing source of truth and encouragement whether it's King James or a more modern translation. At any rate, thanks very much for sharing your game rooms and your amazing collection. I've really enjoyed your videos and commentary.

  • Great stuff matey - ive been intregued to see a room tour of your collection for a while :)

Loving the new shelving units in the gamesroom :)

  • @XFile2708 Would you believe Andrea picked them up for a whole £5 on ebay? :D

  • @SteveBenway haha great minds think alike - im hunting Ebay locally at the moment to try and get a nice display cabinet for my gamesroom... lol

  • I darent doa room tour of my room, it'd look more like an audition for a life of grime :D

  • @LarryBundyJr Nothing wrong with a bit of clutter for that lived in ambience :)

  • Lets she the Archie in action.

  • Those speakers look pretty sweet. What brand/model are they?

  • @Gooberslot They're Edirol MA-10A monitors. They're studio equipment, as opposed to stereo speakers. Not especially loud, but their clarity and tonal range is excellent for something so small.

  • A new room tour. Bet it won't be that different from last years except more clutter with the cats resting or peeing on them. lol.

  • @wrestletube1 Try watching the video before commenting. And my cats don't pee on my stuff :/

  • @SteveBenway Looks really nice. For a change. Never thought I'd see your games room almost clutter free.

  • Nice room tour!

  • @SushiSunshine2000 Thanks :)

  • lol i bet your wife is regretting letting you use two rooms!

  • @fleetwoodsucks She's very supportive, so I don't think so. She does point out to me how lucky I am to have such a tolerant wife though, and I agree with her entirely :D

  • Awesome collection you have here :)

  • @TheAtariJunkie Thanks :)

  • One reason I don't collect - earthquakes.

Imagine all that stuff on the floor - saying that it would be on the floor even if we didn't have quakes :)

  • @Banshun I worry about the cats knocking them on the floor... but it's never happened yet. I see your point though :)

  • loving those speakers...yea i made the mistake of replacing my vhs tapes with dvd,i should of kept them but oh well....the ti99 nice :)

  • @ontheairfan I'll eventually copy them all to DVD and then stick them up in the loft. The spare shelf space will allow me to fit in a few more computers :D

  • Yay coco games :)

Funny of everything you have I focus on that one tiny aspect of it. Great collection Steve and very diverse. Love all the old computer systems. :)

  • @atarileaf Nothing wrong with sticking with what you know :)

  • "Amiga 1200 next steps" coool

nice collection of systems and games

Have you ever played Robo-Alchemic-Drive for PS2?

I saw it on TV and it looked really good

You play a guy who is remote-controlling a giant robot....

  • @slenkar I've never heard of that game. I'll have to look it up :)

  • nice room :D

  • @zerocoolacidburn Thanks :)
