  • @PoncyTank Why why why would anyone in their right mind make head cheese?? That's just as absurd (and disgusting) as the asians who eat everything from bugs, cats and more..Ew.:)

  • @Gummobear i can only think maybe it someone was so hungry that was ll that was left. but i was surprised it wasnt bad! i though it would be terrible

  • @FoodOddities YES! We gave them to a family friend who gave us $20 (to be generous). I grew up with them. By the time we gave them away, they were incredibly old. :) Also, is head cheese similar to Terrine? When I was in France, I tried Terrine for the first time. It was described as a type of meat spread. Head cheese reminded me of it, but I'm sure they are slightly different.

  • @blacknailsrock yes! i guess head cheese is A terrine like a form of one.

  • hey it is very popular in russia...

for me it is not a big deal, i cook it myself

when i eat it i dip it in some vinegar (careful! mix vinegar with wather first!)

  • Ah, Remy... you're an accidental comedian! The way you were explaining made me laugh. ^^

Here, we call it 'Potted Heid' (potted head) and I have never tasted it! I actually have only ever seen one shop sell it... Haggis is a similar idea with sheep's entrails stuffed into its own stomach. It tastes good though. :P

  • i think potted head sounds even more gross than head cheese!! i really liked the canned haggis i tried but I've never been able to try it the right way steaming on a big plate.

  • I agree, potted heid is really gross sounding. Scots terminology is quite brash most of the time. :P

Canned haggis can be OK, but you haven't lived until you've had a proper haggis!! Its yummy. Traditionally eaten with turnips and potatoes. Or 'Haggis, neeps and tatties' as we say. ^^

  • "it's meat. meat from an animals FACE... among other things." I laughed. out loud. <3

  • haha! :) gross huh?!!

  • is this the same as hogs head cheese if so its nasty

  • yes! it's actually the same stuff but hogs head cheese is supposed to be spicier. they both have sick stuff in them!! haha kind of meat jello.

  • Meat from an animal's face LOL!!
