I'm not saying ieds aren't effective I'm just saying that there is a reason why they have resorted to it... Lack of numbers and inneffective conventional tactics... The coalition forces are running into problems becuz obviously this is a unique enemy, they don't wear uniforms, they resort to any means to kill the enemy or disorientate, etc.

They have lesser resources and they cant match coalition fire power, why would they want to use conventional tactics? do you take them for morons? lack of numbers is hardly the case- any guerilla force would use similar tactics. taliban recruitment is seasonal, as are the intensity and frequency of such attacks. Not to mention the media gets to have little coverage of it because of home front issues.

Since then U.S. troops with a lot of help from the Iraqi awakening councils killed many terrorists and dramatically improved security. Sure, we haven't killed every single terrorist but we weakened them so much the Iraqi army can handle them. I don't want to call it a win because we never should've been there but how can you say we lost?
