It is true that the majority of players will just buy a game, like CoD, play for a month then get the next CoD that was pumped out. But many players (myself included) will play really good games for a long time. Halo:CE is still my favorite game, and I played it today, still had fun with it. The games people drop are the ones with no story. Halo and EVE have a universe, so they both last.
@vlweb3d I understand why you would think console gamers would ruin the PC community by not being loyal and such to the game. But as a console and PC gamer I can reassure you it wouldn't be a problem. If they can update the game every 4 years or so people will still play, and remain loyal to the game. I am still a huge fan of cod 4 on the XBox, as are many other people. If dust 514 is unique there will be no problem with a lack of loyalty, especially with so many console gamers out there.

It is also possible that Dust514 will bring more people to EVE-Online, I used to play Eve for a few years and if its right a may come back A smart marketing strategy in my personal opinion. CCP just needs to make sure that get it right out of the box. Hands on first impressions are very important with something like this..
Does anyone know if the novel came out already? I have read The Empyrean Age Novel and it was awesome. I have not read the other one yet. I will be joining the EVE Universe soon (once I get enough money to get a PC...).

This game sounds excellent. The way they intend to integrate the PC, Xbox, and PS3 communities is impressive. Obviously though, they won't be able to integrate Live and PSN with each other, but all three networks will be part of the same world.

lol i hate these fanboy xbox 360 and PS3 arguments people spit out over any new FPS. I have a ps3 and a 360 and i've got to say as gaming consoles they're both almost exactly the same.. The graphical difference is minor (if any) and performance wise they are similiar as well. The only reason i use my PS3 more than my 360 is because it has free internet and i don't want to pay for XBL Gold.
i agree with you keldalig, and most of the time its the games that really decide the graphics. Some developers decide to use the full potential of the console, such as Assassins Creed, other don't, such as Civilization Revolution.

In a game like this, most likely the multiplayer will be cross-platform. So really it doesn't matter if you're playing on an Xbox or Playstation, you'll be playing against the same people and the quality of the game will be the same.

How is it a dated machine? The RROD is not an issue like it was when the 360 was first released. I've only had my Xbox RROD once, got it fixed for free, no big deal. How am I a sucker for buying it? None of my friends have PS3's, all 360's, and I have no need for a Blu-Ray player. Paying for XBL is not a big deal either. How much money you want to dish out to MS is up to you. Both consoles are great in their own ways and both have faults.

Hmmm, I can't see this as being a sustainable model in the long run. I hope I'm wrong, but I imagine a short surge, quick plateau then fast drop-off.
The Eve-PC crowd would be needed to sustain a degree of sustainability in the future. I hope CCPs economy chap is involved in this process.

I said the exclusives only matter if you're interested in them. I'm not saying the PS3 doesn't have some good exclusive titles, I'm just saying I don't really care for them.

@DarthEthong467 You bought yours first? Then your friends should be dumping you, and ye I am saying Playstation3 is for higher class people, who didn't need a price drop to buy the better console. Also, being that better ppl populate PSN, if there are children, their parents are involved enough in their lives that they don't allow them to use headsets. So no, you don't hear alot of kids, if any, on PSN.
Dust 514 will be great on Playstation3, there will be major problems on the rrod though.

@DarthEthong467 Buying a rrod is proof of ignorance. Knowing m$ft's plans for the gaming industry and interent in general has me taking steps to avoid handing them any money. I owned the first breakbox it was crap too, xbl lagged even for a fee, and have things changed? No. Stay on XBL, we only want smart people on PSN. For years I've said I wish there was an IQ test before people were allowed to log in, and choice of console this gen is that test. This has been an aptitude test, and you failed.

@A1R5N1P3R this ignorance is why our real world is crashing around us... Only Xbox is better for some games and Only ps3 is better for others.This darth guy is not a retard for buying one. Lets leave it at this. I study Marketing in college and you have been sub consciously brain washed (basically) into thinking the PS3 is better. Companies employ these tactics so that you buy there product regardless if its good or not. So really you are fighting for meaningless things.

M$ft makes games for those who want to play thru content without a challenge, that's not for me. On the Playstation3 and PC you find better titles, and if you can't see that, well good luck in school, lol.
