  • Reminds me of something I saw once about Beethoven's music, that it told of life that could be so painful, but worth it for the joy it also held. Calls to mind also that Beatles line- 'For though they may be parted, there is still a chance that they will see'.

  • I keep returning to this beautiful piece. Such a joy to listen to and to just ponder. Even at its most challenging, life is wonderful, wondrous and filled with thingies to discover. Thank you for sharing this beautiful Folk artist.

  • just fantistic so so good

  • Nach deas í

  • Glorious!

  • Great performance with no folksy affectations ...long may she sing that way.

  • Great performance with no folksy affectations ...

  • I could listen to this song a hundred times over. I think it's indescribable, but I'll give it a try. Wonderful, Special, Magical, Fascinating, Alluring ... Just Beautiful !! Imagine we could walk in a elfin forest and listen to singing. I think her voice is the one you would hear. :-) Anyone know the name of the CD and where I can buy it? Thanks for the post!

  • Go h-Álainn ar fad..

  • I cannot get enough of this amazing woman. It's impossible to pick a favorite from all of the songs that she has done....but I believe this is the one I'll choose....at least for now.

    Such a beautiful voice.

  • Its my fave! Its slower and more beautiful than other ones I've heard. Plus her voice is beautiful, and the instrumentalists are brilliant!

  • She is definitely fun to listen to and she's not bad on the eyes either. I really could listen to this girl for hours upon hours.

  • Breathtaking song.

Just been on her website and she is mentioning the "flooding in cockermouth!" Am I the only one who finds that quite funny??

Joking aside, she has a translation to the lyrics and they are so beautiful in English as well as Gaelic! Brilliant artist. Truly amazing work. :)

  • Guth breagha alainn!!

  • One of my favorites by her.

  • Dh'ionnsaich mise an t-oran seo bhon a chlar "Back to Barra". Chaidh an clar suid a-mach airson a' togail airgid airson hospice ann am Baigh a' Chaisteal, Barraigh. Tha Julie Fowlis uabhasach math air an t-oran seo- guth bhreagha aice 's te laghach a th'innte.

  • This is the best Dubstep iv ever heard.

  • To beautiful to be true.

  • This is absolutely beautiful, whether one knows Scots-Gaelic or not, it matters not. What is it that comes from the heart transcends all languages and boundaries. That which is truly beautiful is also truly universal. Let us doff our bonnets to this bonny lass for brightening our lives with her lovely voice and personage. Tahplett! S'mise, Robert.

  • My goodness, this is a beautiful song. Thanks for posting.

  • Just the kind of tunage to put a three year old to sleep at bedtime. By golly it worked great too. Thanx

  • To tell my feelings I must sing something as beauty!

  • Can anyone confirm some of the lyrics for me? I found a site with the words to this song, but it seems Julie omits some of the verses. I think I have it mostly figured out which ones she sings, but I'm unsure of lines 3 and 4 of verse 4. I have:

    "gheibh sinn crodh as a'Mhaorainn

    agus sprèid aig na Gallaibh"

but I'm not 100% sure that's right. A little help, please?

  • You are almost right on these lines. They are:

"Gheibh sinn crodh as a'Mhaorainn Agus caoraich a Gallaibh"

    Hope that helps.

    Slainte!

  • Thanks! At first I was stuck between that and the line I had...NO clue how a lot of stuff is pronounced in Gaelic so it was hard to tell, but the more I heard the song the more I was leaning towards that line. Thanks for confirming it!

  • It's really too bad that us poor souls here in the US cannot play this dvd on any of our players.Apparently while this song is from a region free dvd,it is of the the PAL system.Does anyone know if this song is available on cd?It is REALLY GORGEOUS!

  • Transatlantic Sessions 3 is available on CD. Volume 1 and Volume 2 are sold separately. This is on the Volume 2 CD.

  • flatus69, whilst a region free PAL system DVD may not play on most US DVD players, it will play on a PC/laptop which had DVD playback software:)

  • I've noticed that most newer DVD players will play region free PAL discs, while older ones will not. I got the TS3 DVDs and was very disappointed when they would not play in one DVD player, but then I tried them in my new one and they work fine.

  • I just received this dvd from the u.k. i am here in the u.s. and this dvd plays just fine in my imac. no compatibility issues.outstanding product.
