@BNSF9250 bassicly certain horns were designed for certain units looks. and some horns can get away with being on units they are not assigned , do to certain paint schemes they may fit in with , or if the horns tone mirriors the strenth of the locomotive .
although they are just designed to protect trains at crossings , certain horns do fit in better with certain unit types and paint schemes. certain horns are universal and can fit well on any unit and any paint job , some only work for certain ones.
