I've had a lot of people come to me and tell me to apologize for slavery. it certainly wasn't right, but im tired of black people acting like we personally did it.
I have dealt with racism because I am white and I lived in a predominately black neighborhood. There was allot of talk against my ancestors, slavery and how white people are so horrible. In the times when people owned slaves, ALL of my relatives where in Hungary and Italy, living in poverty and suffering. Just because a person is light skinned doesn't mean their family owned slaves. And even if they did, it does not make that person responsible for their ancestors decisions.
I don't think anyone should have to apologize unless they were a slave owner, and the person they are apologizing to was a slave (or close relatives to a slave). Other then that, no apologizing necessary.
Umm did anyone here know that Irish people were also traded/treated and bought as slaves? i bet not many of you did... I think i agree though. at every point in time, every race has fucked another race over or called a particular race an offensive name. Its how we are as humans. we do stupid shit. but the world (i hope) is smarter by now and i think we just need to forget what our ancestors did. We didn't do that, we didn't participate, i just don't see how it matters.

I have nothing to apologize for because I'm against slavery. I have always been highly against slavery ever since I learned what slavery was back when I was a kid. I never enslaved anyone. Also,the fact that black communities tend to generally have lower income levels in comparison to whites means it is to be expected that certain crimes would be commited more often within their communities, which would be the case for any group of people..

I have dealt with racism because I am white and I lived in a predominately black neighborhood. There was allot of talk against my ancestors, slavery and how white people are so horrible. In the times when people owned slaves, ALL of my relatives where in Hungary and Italy, living in poverty and suffering. Just because a person is light skinned doesn't mean their family owned slaves. And even if they did, it does not make that person responsible for their ancestors decisions.

Even back during the colonial times there were whites who wanted equal rights for the slaves brought here. As I said, John Brown and his family gave their lives for your people. There were white abalitionists who risked their lives to get slaves out of the south. As for modern day examples, there are modern day whites who oppose racism, whites who support racism, and whites who are too afraid of being politically incorrect to try and accomplish something.

As far as the endurance of white on black racial discrimination (and it discombobulates me to no end, the degree of individuals, black and white alike, who assert that RACISM IS NO MORE) do you want a recent example? Housing discrimination was at an all-time high in 2006. Peering into our past, it is most fascinating that surveys from the 1960s reveal that even when de jure racism was still quite real whites still somehow felt that blacks were treated fairly and had equal opportunities.

Even when it was beyond evident that they did not! “They simply weren’t taking advantage of them!” In 1960 many blacks still couldn’t vote! We hear the same claims today, that America and west is a level playing field although studies, surveys, and statistics indicate otherwise.

And though most whites will not blatantly state that they do not respect black people, they WILL NOT HESITATE TO SAY THAT THEY BELIEVE BLACKS COMPLAIN TOO MUCH. Many say that whites, as a race, are no more morally unrighteous than any other race, they simply have expressed theirs on a grander scale due to their power and alleged racial ingenuity, but I think such a claim is sort of foolish and difficult to substantiate. Genocides did not transpire in Africa, at least not before Europeans arrived.
