it's a good laptop, the radeon x1200 can play basic games too. so it's great for being on the road. depending on if you're on a budget, i have one... the one without the built-in camera, serves me well.

Yea...it will have lots of hard disk space left...factory is probably has 120gb space left, 600 songs will use about 2.5gb, so really you will have 110gb left.

i have this laptop and i think its great! brilliant webcam built in wireless and also 2hours of battrey life. Great for school work or college anyone who thinks vista lags is lying mine don't and its really good. its nice and light and it doesn't heat ur legs like most laptops do very easy and portable so if you want a simple laptop and great fraphics etc then buy this i have and i really like it

I am on the cheaper version of this laptop, and it does well for college. I have my desktop for gaming.

I will say that this laptop lags sometimes in vista; it's annoying sometimes. I think a RAM or HDD/SSD upgrade would help performance for this machine. As far as the USB is concerned, if you really are plugging in mice, flash sticks, microwaves, coffee makers(sarcasm), just get a hub.

I've never been a fan of eMachines, but being a college student on a tight budget; this fit the bill.

dont listen to most of these idots....im getting one, i've own 3 eMachines in my lifetime. went from eMachine to a killer system build. now i need a basic laptop for school, so whats the problem. obvisouly if your a huge gamer DONT BUY, be smart look at the price, you would be expecting a miracle. everyday task will be fine. im totally new to laptops thinking of upgrading video card or CPU if possible. i will be dumping vista or XP, of course!

Well you can't actually upgrade the CPU or video card in this particular model. If you want to do that the look into some barebone notebooks, such a OCZ notebook. Of course you will have to buy most of the parts such as RAM, CPU, HDD and WLAN card.

Well you could try if it is the same socket. But it may not work properly or at all. If you want to try this ,try it on an older notebook first and then on this. But still there may be some issues. Not enough power, motherboard not made for another kind of CPU.

i have an eMachines desktop and it rocks. can't upgrade the RAM past 2GB but it rock. better to build your own.

Vista manages ram better then Windows XP does, people think of Vista as inefficient at handling system components because of Windows Aero and the sidebar, which probably account for half the memory Vista uses to run. Just turn them off and you're good.

That's something you will have to do yourself, find all the drivers for XP for this laptop, if they exist., and then do an XP install. Emachines are not that bad of a computer now these days, as long as you stick with there AMD models. But this thing is slow i will admit, the ACER 3050 laptop i got almost 2 years ago has a 1.8ghz AMD Sempron chip in it lol.

Yes, I have a laptop like this. It's a HP - and I can just about play CoD on miniumum settings. My notebook costs about the same ammount, has a lightscribe disk drive, three usb ports and a bunch of other stuff. What I meant was that it's not really very much 'Bang for buck' considereing what people are going to use this for.
