@bogdannyxxx I had the same issue. It's to do with the APN which is your carrier provider details.
You need to go into your network settings to Access Point Names and then create a new one. You need to create an APN which matches your carrier. You can find the details for the APN by Googling "APN Optus "
for example. Enter those details in and save. Good luck. Sorry for the bad instructions PM if you still have issues :-)
@Desperate4changing You have to follow the instructions on the developers websites. I did have CyanogenMod installed on my Galaxy S... It was cool, but there were some things that were stuffing up... Like the external SD card couldn't be read or written. And it removes Swype and Slide to call/text... The Samsung ROM's (unlocked/rooted) are cool :)
@bogdanyxxx Either put the phone into airplane mode then back to normal, or redo the steps in the vid... Did you definitely put the "MODEM_I9000XXJVP_REV_00_CL1019177.tar.md5" file in the "Phone" section of Odin3?
You are a legend i tried for 4 hours trying to use Kies and failed!!!!! i have never ever done any of this sort of upgrading and it worked perfect it paused in the inital stages and jus followed your advise and was all sweet mate thanks
@CalebUnleashed No i DOn't have sim lock or lock code... i have root my device before, and didn't have any problem... And after this root i can't turn my device on ... It just say Confirm Password... WHAT PASS??
@Unbitable95 hi you know i had the same problem just type in anything several times and then i t will say if you put a false password again you will lose something from the sd card or smthg like that just type in what ever you like and then it will relaod automatically and torn on the phone :)
@JustinAndLLCoolJ And it worked on a Vibrant?! That's crazy! Ummm... Look for a YouTube video about installing 2.3.4 on a Vibrant and that should work.
@BlackBlueMen Howdy. Try the process again. Does it turn on at all? How much battery did you have? Pull out the battery, then turn your phone on with the [Home button], [volume down] and [power] combination. This will always put your phone into download mode. Unless of course, the phone was unplugged during the bootloader process... Then there may be issues. Let me know how you go.
@CalebUnleashed thanks man ... but when the program finishes installing in pc ... nothing happpens in mobiile ... it stayed grey to black screden for 2 min then i plugged it out and ill give to the company of samsung tomorow!
Hi I have no experience. I want to try on my Sgs1 . AT the moment my sgs1 is MIUI 2.3.3. But it has problems. I want to change it to gingerbread. Is it possible to change directly?
@redbambi23 Hey mate. What do you mean by change directly? If you want to update your phone, this guide will work no matter what firmware you've got currently installed. Just bare in mind that your device will be erased, so backup everything..
@PatrickZeroxxx Hi mate! Don't sweat it, Samsung Galaxy S's are extremely hard to brick... There's a few things you can do to diagnose this. Remove the battery, leave it out for 10 seconds, then put it back in and charge the phone, and try and turn it on. If it doesn't simply turn on, or you get the phone-!-computer icon, it's still fixable. Hold the home button, the volume down button, and the power button on. It should go into download mode. The main thing is, make sure it's charged
@Desperate4changing Yes follow the same steps, it works on all Samsung Galaxy S's independent of the installed firmware. Just bare in mind that your device will be erased, so backup everything that is on it...
@ynon Howdy! Yeah there's a 2.3.5 for the Galaxy S, and 2.3.6 for only the Nexus S at the moment. 2.3.5 has several bug fixes, and adds "Google Wallet" (which only works on devices with an NFC chip). I've heard that 2.3.5 can cause Galaxy S's to brick, so don't try upgrading your device until there's a guide out. I'm going to try and post a guide for 2.3.5 soon...

Hey what if I have already flashed my S1 to 2.3.3? Will i follow the same steps?
I didn't upgrade to 2.3.3 via Samsung as it took them ages to release!!
Cheers
